“I am very new to OS and, living in Australia (a few hours from Melbourne), attendance at some of the group sessions (e.g. new member hang) isn't straightforward timing-wise due to other early morning commitments. No concerns of course - I fully realise that that my time-zone is an odd one on an international scale. Early experience with OS so far is great though. Absolutely rapt with 1. the volume of resources and the breadth of high level expertise the team has, and 2. the super friendly and welcoming email stream from minute one that I joined. Very much looking forward to my involvement and hopefully I will get to at least a few of the live sessions and meet some like-minded people. Thanks for the great welcome and for the opportunity to be part of Open Studio. Ratings below relate to the response to my joining as I haven't initiated any other form of contact with Open Studio so far.”

“Love the tone and the inclusiveness of this group. Although I think I'm a little out of my depth in terms of the expected level of proficiency, I can still find something to light a fire and be inspired by what I hear. There's absolutely no question on the high quality of musicianship from the tutoring team and the overall presentation is beautifully done.”

“Outstanding instructors and excellent video/sound quality. I love having the workbook material easily available as well. The only suggestion I might have is to make the courses searchable by key words, such as "accompniement" or "arpeggios". The search function as it is works great, but is a little too broad in the results returned. For example, when I search "piano guitar duet" I get back every piano and guitar course, and there's really no way to discern which, if any, focus on "piano guitar duet". The Fred Hersh "Playing In Duos" showed up, and looked promising, but he doesn't cover piano/guitar, and it's to unwieldy to go through every course looking to see if one does. I know that's really a specific search term, but with as many courses as you offer it would be helpful to be able to filter them a bit more specifically.”

“I am taking the course slow as my lack of reading music is making it a challenge. However one I will conquer and in the process pick up reading music. As far as what I have learned so far I am really enjoying it and practicing the warm ups every day.”

“I have played blues and classic rock tunes on the piano for a few years and can read music, albeit slowly. The approachability of these lessons, combined with the cool way they teach you "jazzy" things to incorporate into your basic playing right out of the gate makes it fun, and leaves you wanting to practice. The instructors are awesome, and seen to genuinely love teaching!”
