Phoned my insurance company who I had breakdown cover with, as my car wouldn't start this morning. Which was strange as we just been out only a hour previously. It turns out the ignition lock key is broken so he by passed it so we could still drive it safely until we get a new part. As tomorrow we go on holiday for a week. Thanks Phil for your help

We are oaps and we have always had excellent service from the RAC. spanning 50 years but luckily for us no more than 10 times but worth every penny because that's one of the things with the RAC you don't have to worry about. In the last month we've called them twice. Once for a flat battery. The phone was answered promptly and friendly by the call centre. The Engineer turned up within 20 mins. Tried to get the car to turn over and as the RAC battery was still under guarantee replaced it with a new one. He was very PROFESSIONAL and customer friendly. The second time the car was making a horrible grating noise and I had to limp home. Again the call centre responded immediately. The PROFESSIONAL customer friendly engineer turned up within 40 minutes. Replaced some pins near the front axle. Job done. So to sum up they might be old fashioned but it's been sevice with a smile. Couldn't have asked for a better service, so informative, pleasant, nothing was a bother, I was taken to the garage who had fixed a timing belt but left bolts loose and one missing, rac explained to lad at garage what they hadn't done, excellent service from shaun the rac man, will stay with rac for the good service it provides

Called RAC out and had acknowledgment text within seconds. Then 20 mins later had text with driver allocated to me, he would be there within 30 mins. My experience of other recovery companies told me this wouldn't happen... he arrived within 15 mins! Really polite and thorough mechanic had my car diagnosed and on my way in 10 mins!

Broke down just on outskirts of Barnsley. Recovery guy Dave out to us within 10-15mins. Fantastic service and really nice guy

Thay arrived and checked why my car wouldn’t start it was the battery as I pay extra £2 a month I got a brand new battery

Had a warning light come up on my dash a week after a full service and MOT-manual states its unsafe to drive. As a key worker on the front line my car is completely essential. I was unable to get an appointment at my local vauxhall garage (frustratingly). I contacted RAC who i have breakdown cover with. They arrived an hour after i phoned, the mechanic was kind, understanding and very efficient. He found the fault quickly and sorted it immediately. I am very impressed with the service and professionalism.

RAC man by the name of Mike who covers M42 area and as Exmplerary after our breakdown. Has been with the RAC for 27 years plus. Fantastic personality and a charming person. Pankaj Vaja

My car broke down on the M1. Managed to hobble along till I was off the M1. Saved by an RAC van within 1 hour of calling. Within 10 minutes he had done a very quick repair and then called up a few local RAC trusted garages to see if anyone could do a quick fix to get me on the road again. RAC guy was great. But I was most impressed with the helpfulness of Richard, Geoff and the team at RM Services in Hathern near Loughborough who within about 10 minutes of arriving had gone out of their way to make space, put my car on a ramp, cut some sheet metal of theirs to create a simple enough part & very quick fix that could get me home. Truly truly impressed with the customer service (offered a coffee whilst waiting & clean toilets... ah, the small things). High integrity, reliability, can-do attitude. At the end of the day I'm a stranger from nowhere and they treat me like this... ah, I wished I lived closer so they could be my regular go-to garage! So my entire experience of breakdown - from the telephone answering at RAC to help when they arrived to the garage they referred me to... I'm pleasantly surprised by how well it all went. Thanks to everyone involved.

Surprised to see all these bad reviews of RAC. My last experience was very good. From first call to completion; two hours. Initial wait, diagnosis, went to get the part, repair and paperwork, all in just under two hours. This for a repair that my local dealer would have charged me £250 for. I suppose it just depends on who you get. We got super 'robo' repairman Michael, the best!

Saturday the 18th of January, my car had a slight problem, with my RAC policy I contacted the call centre to report my concern. However I received a call approximately 10 minutes later from RAC’s mechanic Gordon. He was very professional and checked my car thoroughly and I was impressed by his knowledge and understanding of my vehicle, from this he told me the problem with my vehicle and reassured me that my vehicle had no other major problem.
