Completely incompetent. I would not advise signing up. They do not care or look after their customers at all! I had a policy with them for years, and then they backtracked and wriggled out of helping me the first time I needed help after years of being a loyal customer and made me pay £175 to get help. I wouldn't trust the RAC at all!

My car was broken down in a very dangerous position on a dark, double yellow line corner. Had to wait a very long time, maybe an hour for them to answer the phone. All the operators were busy etc. Funny how operators are quickly available when you first join up and pay them money. Rotten service, just awful.

Broke down 3pm RAC turned up 3.5 hours later, only to tell me they couldn’t tow, then given ETA of recovery at 4.30 am!! Very poor service. They also didn’t call when they promised, twice, and when I called to find out what was happening I waited 35mins for RAC to even answer the phone! Nightmare service!

Terrible- left on motorway in dark and cold with 2 young kids for almost 4 hours before recovery attended. Dangerous, Useless and very distressing. Multiple calls, no callbacks despite promises to and when recovery did come- he had only been informed of job minutes before despite waiting for hours. Truly terrible.

Awful company. Fine if they turn up but usually 20 minutes or more on hold and then a wait of hours before they attend. If they attend. The standard procedure is to try to find excuses not to. Don't waste your money here.

Terrible service! Total lack of concern towards its customers! I had a 3ltr Jag insured with the RAC, plus breakdown cover. The Jag failed it's MOT so I let it go and replaced it with a 1.8ltr Rover but the RAC Insurance was higher for the Rover than for the 3ltr Jag! Obviously I went elsewhere, but I still took RAC Breakdown Cover with the new company! But the RAC are saying I must pay in full for the cover on the Jag which I was paying monthly! If I do this, it will mean I've paid DOUBLE for one year of Breakdown Cover! How can that be legal? So far I have received no word of compromise from the RAC, even though I've asked for it and offered to pay the rest of their cancellation fees, etc. :/ :p Terrible Customer Service!

If could score no stars I would. Price has gone up by £10 in 2 years despite no claims since we took cover over 14 years ago. If you do manage to actually get through to speak someone within an hour the Customer service is shocking unhelpful rude staff who cannot be bothered to speak to you because they have targets to reach and you're holding them up. Appalling company definitely wont be renewing with them

Awful experience form the beginning to the end. Broke down on M25 with engine going in limp mode unsure if safe to drive. Called RAC been promised 45 minutes waiting time for mechanic to arrive.Called back after one hour an half I was told that there are no patrols,forced to pay £167 to be rescued .Refused that because they promised an agent to arrive and sort out the issue and advise.One hour later rescued to the nearest services and left there. Called back and I was told that the job was closed ???!!! Advised that an agent would come to me in the next 3 hours??!! Overall waited about 5 hours and than decided that GOOGLE is a better adviser than these incompetent RAC employers who would do anything to overcharge you !!! Decided that My family waited enough around and took the risk of driving back home slowly. The reason I pay my membership to you RAC is because I thought YOU got me covered ,I was totally wrong !!

Called for assistance as a member Only to be told that my membership is not on the system. Had to get to a garage so ordered a tow. While confronted Rac ..they admitted mistake but refused to refund. Dealing with Melanie Harisson from Rac customer service was painful and tiring upsetting! Overall-unprofessional dishonest useless.

We were coming back from Swindon at 12:00am and suddenly the tyre popped on the M4 we were parked to the side we called RAC waited one hour and got a call back saying we don’t have a car to reach out to you and the price was also £175 then we called AA and they came 8 minutes earlier than expected and only asked for £100

My daughter broke down at approximstely 8.30 in the evening. She was told she would have to wait about 90 minutes. Waited but no one contacted her. Again rang told the rac operator that it was an unsafe area that she had broken down in. Operator not really bothered just said phone 999 if anything happened. Still waiting this was gone passed midnight. Was toldca taxie would be ordered for her to get home and to leave the car as they were very busy. A very disappointed customer I have been a member for over 20years and it was the first time I had called the rac for help. Obviously not a reliable recovery service to be with

Received my renewal, it had gone up by around £2 per month and I have never used the service ! Asked to have it reduced (much better offer from Green Flag), and customer care/ sales couldn't even be bothered to reply to my last two emails, so, Green Flag it is.

Free service user with barclays RAC rarely dissapoint RAC came to home address to look at Car went into Limp home mode 2 hour wait and kept calling to keep me updated. They managed to reset fault and provide output of codes for my garage. No issues since with car since saved a repair bill

Recavary service is just funny with this company I need to wait from 03:00 to 09:00 for recovery first I been told the Recavary will arrive between 04:00 04:30 and after 09:00 and after make me a offer some Recavary service to fix my tyre for a £60 so they can replace the tyre but can't do Recavary service.... sorry but is.....

This company does not even deserve one STAR! Angry doesn’t even cut it. We join October last year with fleet cover. We have had 2 breakdowns & on both occasions we waited over 5 hours. First woman on own & 5 hour wait. Last night over 7 hours! There is no excuse for this kind of service. I would say if you have vans that you want to cover, don’t bother!

Customer service is a joke. Asked for reports urgently via email. 6 days still no response. Not even a courtesy email to say they are looking into matter. No phone number to ring. Once again faceless corporation doesn't actually give a damn
