Please keep away from this company I've waited 7 hours on the street freezing cold please dont waste your money

I have RAC cover included with my NFU car insurance. I arrived at my mother’s today and investigated the spongey brake pedal to find a brake pipe leaking and the car clearly unsafe to drive home. I called the RAC at 11.30 and was told they could recover the vehicle between 3 and 5p.m. I also had to pay £207 excess as the recovery limit is just 20 miles! At 6.30 after making several calls, I received a call from a contractor who was looking for me in a city over 30 miles away. Told me I was out of his area. RAC then promised another contractor, again nothing and I called a couple more times, then around 7.30 that’s 8 hours after my initial call, they phone to tell me it will be tomorrow morning. So they might just make a response time in 24 hours. Will they be trumpeting that on their TV adverts?

Worst company ever ,,years of family membership,,40yrs am going too cancel as soon as this use less company arrive to my break down..6hr 16miles from Norwich

Cancelling my payment with RAC after ANOTHER awful and unjustified experience. Happy to take money but won’t ever do what they advertise. Waited 7 hours to be messed around without any help from you at all. Poor service, sign me up to AA!!! Adios!!!!!

When requesting a "Recovery" as I informed the office my vechile was un repairable. It took 5hrs for someone to arrive to confirm it was unrepairable and then to be told it would take up to another 2hrs for me to be recovered... I believe this services is totally unacceptable and poor.

Live time, breakdown on the A1 north. Pushed car onto the hard shoulder, RAC called to confirm we are in Cambridgeshire NO we are northbound past Durham service, driver is registered with disablities . Two other passenger. No means to access toilet or drinks. RAC advices 45mins, 90mins later a call to chase it up and highway england inform us it will be a further 90 mins . Disgusting service.

They have STOLEN over £146 from my card used to purchase Membership LAST FEBRUARY. I CANCELLED this years renewal OVER A MONTH BEFORE RENEEALWAS DUE. I POSTED BACK THEIR CARDS at the same time. A HIGH COURT ORDER is now being prepared for a sum of £146,000 for loss of work due to the mini stroke they caused me . DO NOT USE RAC and IF you do , CANCEL your card IMMEDIATELY AFTER and declare as STOLEN and get a New Card with New number to STOP THESE THIEVES from taking money UNAUTHORIZED in future.

RAC have STOLEN over £146 from my card WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION. THIS IS PURE THEFT. IF you pay an annual payment with a card make sure you CANCEL the Card shortly afterwards and declare it as stolen . Then these arseholes CANNOT steal any more money from your card. A High Court case is now being prepared against them with compensation for the mini stroke they have caused me and unable to work over 3 months now. STAY AWAY FROM/THESE THIEVES !!!

5.5 hour wait and still not arrived for a lone young female driver 209 miles away from home . Hardly any communication and what little was given was utter lies. 3hour wait 4hour wait they will soon be there , they kept saying..... Then was told to call the emergency services if they felt frightened,. You are beyond useless. DO NOT USE.......

I had a no fault car accident and i am actually insured with RAC. They said they will deal with all even with my injury claim because it was someone bumped to by back. After one week without a spare car from third parties lots of looses because time off work. Week later I just cancel a claim and asked them to bring my car back to my home address because it's ridiculous how long take to arrange everything. Common they taking money for being useless. This same day I phoned third party insurance from the person who hit me and they look after me very well and very professional. This same day We have a hire vehicle and they arrange garrage to collect the car for repair. RAC is not a professional company. I am going to cancel my policy because paying for being treat like a idiot it's not point. Never recommend Regards B.

I've been stranded twice in the last 3 weeks,with what has turned out to be the same problem,each time,many miles from home!. The RAC on each occasion has been brilliant,and the contracted out teams to get my car to the(same) garage and me back home ... excellent!!!!......I've been in the RAC for ever!!!, and not had any problems!! Of course,you can wait for some time,but hey, without them you could get really stuck!!!

My wife was left stranded in a retail carpark for 4 hours, the communication from them was awful and very unprofessional, she even had them hang up on her. I will be leaving them after being with them for many years as their service has deteriorated massively over the last few years.

Really slow service ! I have used other breakdown services in the past with an average call out time of about 40 mins but Rac membership was part of my insurance renewal so i though great ! Called them out today at 4.00 pm as my car had power fail due to broken alternator ! Really nice guy turned up at 7.00pm and towed me home to Norwich but 3 hours ! Really !! On a cold March evening you just want to get home wont be using Rac in the future !

Patrol 5160 Lee... He rescued me. First class service from start to finish. The wait was less than an hour which is pretty good. Two texts and a phone call saying he's on his way. My problem was a wheel nut broke as I changed a wheel and I couldn't undo it. It was a bit tricky, actually broke his socket set handle, but he percevered. Really great service, Lee was friendly yet professional. Never complained, just got on with it. From start to finish it was a top service... Highly recommended.

My car broke down at 9:50 pm. One of the wheels shared off (managed to get a photo). Called RAC and they couldn’t find my policy, I have been with them for about 20 years with the top cover that includes tow and onward journey. I do eventually find the policy number and called again.. On second call they asked me if I had an accident, if Ihit anything or another car, or if there was a path hall, then they said they can come for a call out charge plus tow charges and repairs, because it’s an insurance matter and it’s not covered by RAC. On third call they said it’s covered and they were sending someone in 90 min. Got text message at 10:50pm confirmation of the booking. After 2 hours I asked for an update (still the premium number to call and waiting 6 minutes with the music playing... this time said nothing was booked and they hang up on me! Worse service ever, in the middle of the night with 4 children in a car.

I had taken out a yearly subscription with the RAC, I changed my car insurance which included RAC cover. I cancelled my subscription to the RAC and asked for refund. I had paid £84 and it had run for 3 months, refund amounted to £21.21, I asked why it was so little, and was told there was an administration charge of £44. Excessive? So check them out yourself before you sign up!

Appalling service from this company. Having notified them we had broken down, we were subsequently left waiting for five hours. Then, on our final phone call, unbelievably, were told the RAC had given up trying to find us: this on a busy road close to Stratford upon Avon. However, even more worrying: last month I phoned to cancel our subscription. After an infuriating 40 minutes during which time an employee tried every ploy to retain my custom, they finally assured me the subscription was cancelled. Today I received a letter informing me that my subscription would be withdrawn from my bank, as usual. If I could award 0 for this appalling company, I would.

If I could give zero I would disgusting service First phone call at 5pm after explaining my son locked his keys in van, Was told yes they could sort it out have specialist equipment, If not can get a breakdown vehicle out to collect him and van. What a load of rubbish and after being told I am covered on my policy for the service £165 later as only cover 10 miles my son was told would arrive at midnight. Now just be told between 2 And 3 in the morning What service is that he is freezing disgusting there is no point paying for this service 7 hours and still waiting I do NOT recommend this company spoke to 4 different people all said different information. They do NOT care about customers at all .
