The RAC is the most useless recovery company in the UK. Please please avoid them. They took away my car for over a week now to be delivered to my garage which is less than 75 miles from where they picked it from. That was last Saturday, This is Friday now and the car hasn't been delivered. Now the game they are playing is appalling, I have been calling them all through today and they are all playing dumb at the call centre. At some points, they would tell me to hold on but then abruptly drop the phone. At other times they would tell me they could not find my details on their system meaning I do not exist. Please avoid this useless and non chalant company full of ego with no professionalism, empathy or understanding of what customers might be going through, especially during this winter period.

my car has been parked in a paid parking place for 2 days now, i called them took them 6 hours to come out even though i was in a prime RAC location being london, they came and said a tow truck would be needed as car wont go into gear or neutral, this morning after being told and promised someone will definitly be here for that time, now being told theirs no truck available, i have been without a car for 2 days and have been paying £20 a day to the parking meter because RAC couldnt give a toss about getting you back on the road as quickly as possible, unless your in the middle of oncoming traffic

Avoid them...avoidem people....on my first break down I wait for them 8 hours to be recovered...let's said is happen in the morning and road are busy and is a accident...on second breakdown what is going right now I all ready have 7 hours...still waiting...I just received a phone call 2 hours ago wend they promised me a truck will pick me up in 20 min...and another call 1 hour ago from a subcontractor what work for they and told me some one will pick me up(God now wend) and will bring me to a services were I will wait for rac to send another truck to bring me to my destination(by the way may destination is just 50 miles away)...and both of them (rac and the subcontractor) told me they need to do that because the road are very busy....:)))...if they consider road busy at midnight I wonder how they consider them on a rush hour ??? Just don't buy anything from them because I promise you will be sorry!!!

I called at 8.12 on Saturday 27th November to report our breakdown. I was told the recovery time of 45-60 minutes, bearing in mind I had a child with me and was advised to leave the car. We were left in the freezing cold on a verge side of a busy dual carriageway. I was lied to again and again when I called for an update. I was sent the central message to say they were working on the recover and would be with us soon. After over 2 hours of waiting in the freezing cold, trying to reassure my child, I was then told it could be another 3-4 hours wait. I am so angry about the lies, also that no other solution was offered, I had to ask for a taxi to get my child safe and out of the cold and was told that a taxi wouldn't come to the lay-by, is that because it's dangerous!!! Ok for a child to be left out on the icy, slippy verge. I have been disgusted by the lack of customer care and have not yet been given any truthful answers.

Disgusting service still waiting over 8 hours it now 1.40 in the morning in the cold with no heating to be told they don’t have a tow truck and just leave your keys in the car and get a taxi home . REALLY leave your keys in the car to have it stolen I’m sure insurance companies should be informed of their company policy’s unprofessional company . I finally got a tow truck at 7 this morning over 12 hours left in a storm and - freezing. DISGUSTING

Despite paying for breakdown and onwards travel cover for anywhere in the country, we were left waiting for 9 HOURS in a freezing car with no food, water or bathroom. Every member of staff I spoke to would ask for details that they then did not take down. The manager I spoke to on the phone was incredibly callous and called me patronising when i said I didn’t want to be locked in a car park overnight. I was repeatedly told ‘we are trying our best’ despite absolutely nothing having been done. She told us we would have to just stay there despite being three scared women. We had to push our car down 2 levels of a multi-storey and then wait hours for a tow to come, who then dropped us in the middle of nowhere in pitch black for over an hour because RAC hadn’t bothered to arrange another tow. THEY WILL LEAVE YOU STRANDED AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE TEAM DO NOT CARE. I will be going to the ombudsman as I don’t believe they can advertise the service they’re providing and don’t want anyone else to rely on them and feel as unsafe as I did.

Absolutely disgusting service, my car broke down on the motorway with my three young children all under ten suffering from the cold weather, took hours for the patrol to arrive. Service represnetatives on the phone are very poor and showed a complete lack of professionalism, care and competence, they reported conflicting information. The thrid party tow truck they finallly arranged decided to drop us off at further services. We once again had to wait for another non RAC truck to arrive and finally take us home. All in all in took close to 7 hours to get us home which was approximately 75miles from where we broke down. Shocking service! I would advise going with another reputable breakdown company, preferably one with its own adequate fleet.

Alternator problem, luckily we were at home when the fault occurred, the 1st patrolman that arrived was quite short and very a and not really want to or diagnose what the fault was,he told us that the vehicle would need to be recovered to the dealership that always do the work on the car but it would be the following day,the following morning another patrolman arrived and had not been told that a low loader should have been requested, upon checking back it appear`s that one had never been arranged,he said that he had the equipment on his vehicle to recover it so he loaded the car onto it and took the car away,we collected it on Friday 20th November to find that they had caused quite a considerable amount of damage to the car,I have e-mailed them several times and have suggested that they send somebody out to look at the damage but this is to much trouble, they have asked that I get the estimate and then send it to them and it will take at least 21 days to contact me,in addition they want a full rundown of what work had to be carried out to repair the car,I along with both the patrolman knew that as a mid engined car all of the repairs would need to be done from under the car,so in other word`s they`re trying to find a way of blaming the dealer, probably best to save money and don`t pay the exorbitant monthly cost and if you are unlucky call a local dealer out pay their recovery fee and put it down to bad luck, anyway the monthly fee will pay for the recovery

I broke down in a lonely country lane phoned the RAC at 4-15. I had 2 texts from the RAC on my mobile by 7-30 my mobile phone battery was flat. Luckily I had company with me as the recovery vehicle did not come until 12-15. I have complained but Customer Care Team are very unhelpful. I have escalated the complaint to the RAC CEO only to be answered by Customer Care Team again. Yet again their response is very unhelpful. The compensation is totally inadequate for an 8 hour wait in a cold cramped Landrover in a lonely country lane. As the pick was soo late the vehicle had to be taken home & the RAC recalled to take vehicle to the local garage. I have discovered RAC have classed this as 2 call outs. I now can only call out the RAC once between now and September 2022. Any more call outs will have to be paid for. I would never recommend RAC to friends after being a member since 96.

The only time I want a recovery service they refused to recover me unless I paid£100 upfront! A member of an extortionate thief company! been better to pay a local drug dealer for breakdown cover!!!!

I am not a member to start off with I am a simple driver of the road and member of the public. On my way home I was driving over the York ring roads. The road leading from Shipton Road to Great New Way at 17.58pm one of their drivers caused me to drive into the middle of the road. I was using the conversion lane for that road to get traffic off the roundabout and your driver decided to simply not let me into the main lane and cause me to drive into the middle of the road. I drive a small Citroen C1 and the fact that this driver had me nearly head on oncoming traffic is ridiculous. If the car in front of them did not pull forward quickly to let me in there would have been a rather large accident. Absolutely ridiculous for the fact that they're breakdown recovery but one of their drivers was more than happy to try and cause an accident. Honestly disgusting
