THINK HARD BEFORE BUYING A BATTERY FROM THE RAC. Unfortunately I did and with 2 years warranty remaining it won’t hold charge. Customer Services are using Warranty small print to avoid changing it. They suggested an escalation procedure that ends up being considered by the original Customer Service Operative who then refuses further escalation. This is ‘marking their own homework’. As a vulnerable 73 year old, I have been without transport now for almost 3 weeks. My advice is avoid RAC batteries like the Plague.

Been with them for a few years but wasn't happy with their service. Ive waited over 4 hours (then cancelled)for recovery cause they were busy, poor communication, had to ring them as they never called us when they were over 1 hour late. Eventually cancelled them when our local mechanic helped us out and got the car going. Another time, again waited hours for him to drive past us several times (big car, broken down in a cycle lane, couldn't miss us!). Decided to cancel cover at renewal, they took payment from my debit card so I couldn't stop payment. As payment was still pending I rang them for them to charge me £26 to cancel! Disgusted!!!

3 days 9 hours is how long it took the RAC to recover my vehicle, unacceptable. I tried to cancel my policy, but the RAC said as I had benefited from their service this wasn't an option. Totally unacceptable.

My car was broken down and had to wait over an hour then driver arrives just to tell me that he won’t toe my car unless I pay them £180. I rang rac helpline to complain why he’s asking for money when I have PREMIUM RESCUE membership? The man on the phone said that driver shouldn’t be asking you for money and toe my car to any destination I want, but still rac driver still refused to do anything as he said I don’t maintain my car lol , so I ended up paying for 13 months (£17/month) for nothing. Don’t waste your money and get scammed.

I waited 7 hours for breakdown! In the middle of the night. Was scared my phone would go dead before I even got asked where I was because they kept me on the line for so long before asking any details. They told me 23 hours at first, by the end of the call 3-4 hours. So waited and waited thinking they must be so busy at the moment, every 30 mins they sent me a automated text saying they will be with me soon- false hope! After the 4 hours I stopped even getting messages at all like they abandoned me. Then called them again, they asked if I want to leave my car (where burnt out cars seen in countryside) and get taxi, persuaded them to do more. Third party tow truck not mechanic eventually came after grumpy call, towed me home. Next day called RAC as car still not been looked at, the guy came a lot quicker, in an hour, very helpful though what he thought was the issue, 2 garages since said that was not the problem. Such an ordeal I don't trust the RAC and their automated services are clearly not working. RAC "they will leave you stranded for 7 hours"

Membership number 200110004738485. The RAC left me, an 81 year old & a lady with bipolar for 3 days without rescue because they were a little busy. Now they are chasing me for renewal, after agreeing a refund (which never appear). The RAC should be ashamed. #readilyabandonscustomers.

I waited for 3 1/2 hours at Gordano services with my 79-year-old father-in-law . The car would not start the window was down and it was freezing cold . Totally unacceptable time for someone of this age to have to wait . The recovery mechanic on the other hand was fantastic . Sort your staffing resources out totally unacceptable to have to wait this long there is no excuse as there are so few cars on the road at the moment. Gordano services was virtually empty . I’m thankful that I’m with the AA and not the RAC .

My car broke down at 11.30 within half an hour which was great but the patrol that came to attend refuse to help because i forgot my id i told him if he goes back on my history he will see that is the same car i always called for breakdown and it is register with RAC. I offer to ask my partner to sent a pic of my id he refused that he wanted to see a physical id i show the app on my phone he told "anyone could download the app" i have proof of address in my car with my name plus an oyster card from TFL with my picture on still he refused to help he just wanted to leave i could not believe. Then he said i can pay £100 for my car to be tow i asked him if i would get refunded once i provide my id he said no and before he left he me asked to make sure to have nut so thats who ever is coming to fix can use and RAC do not provide the nuts. I could not believe what i was hearing. And he left me there result of that i had to ask my partner to bring the id and i had to wait another 3 hours for someone to come for help But the second driver that came was really helpful and he provided the nuts to fix the car.

I have used RAC vehicle checks multiple times. I tend to buy the multi-check due to the frequency in which I require vehicle checks. On my latest use, I was confident I had at least one valid code left from my previous multi-check. With this confidence, I went to purchase a new vehicle for myself. After looking the vehicle over and decided to go ahead and purchase, I tried to use my remaining multi-check code. To my disappointment, it did not work. I therefore tried all of the other codes to ensure I was using the correct one. No luck. I then tried a different browser and a different device. Still no luck. I tried to contact customer service but received no reply on the phone as it was a Sunday. Not a valid excuse if the vehicle check service is advertised as 24/7. I had actually emailed 15 hours prior to attempting the check to ask which of my codes were valid but received no reply. At this point I was in a difficult situation as I needed to do a check on the vehicle prior to purchasing. I thought because the system rejected all of my codes, I must have been making a mistake and had actually use them all or they had expired. So I purchased a further multi-check, it processed, took payment and I received my check without issue. However, the following day I then received an email stating two codes from my previous multi check were in fact still valid and they had not processed when I initially tried due to a technical issue with the website. To this I replied respectfully asking the additional checks I had purchased to be refunded as they clearly were not required. Unfortunately RAC’s customer service clearly were not interested and showed zero respect to a loyal customer. They offered absolutely no support or means of remuneration. They happily took my money, despite it being essentially a duplicate purchase because of their IT failure and then essentially said it was my fault for purchasing a vehicle on a Sunday. Really disappointed with the outcome. I will not be using RAC’s vehicle check service again and I will ensure my experience is voiced to all that it would interest until I receive a refund.

If I could leave less than 1 star I would. Please do yourself a favour and avoid like the plague. I was left stranded at 11.30pm on Wednesday, told that it would take 4 hours to get to me, despite there being barely any traffic on the roads due to lockdown. The service that night and thereafter has been dreadful. When I asked for a refund of premium, as I had to use another service at my own cost on the night to avoid the wait, this was flatly declined. A truly pathetic service. Go literally anywhere else

Waited from 4pm to around 3/4 am to be recovered “we will be 90min” yeah I wish you were, told them so many times my car isn’t drivable so they sent out a van instead of a recovery vehicle like I swear they don’t take their job seriously n just wanna mess around, this isn’t the first time, last time they took 10hrs to get to me and the driver kept saying he drove passed a few times n never seen me, not once did I see a recovery vehicle drive passed, also he called me to say he was 30min away which turned into 8hrs !

RLEASE READ AND TAKE MY ADVICE - USE THE AA!!!! I was left stranded on the motorway for NINE hours. My wife who wasn't with me is with the AA so called in to report the issue as well - they told her someone would be with her in an hour (but in this instance her policy didn't cover me as she wasn't in the car too). The RAC are absolutely shameful - I have been offered £100 compensation which doesn't even cover the cost of the private tow I had to arrange, let alone the lost day of work. Customer service well help no more, nor refund my membership so I can join the AA. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED DO NOT USE RAC.

Moved to RAC from AA last year, what a mistake. Incorrectly told my 20 y/o they weren't covered and then went on to say 6-8 hours wait at night on motorway.
