Requested RAC breakdown cover at 1330 and didn’t get home until 3am! Granted we had a 3 hour journey but RAC were absolutely useless!!!! Very poor planning on RAC behalf, we had 2 links in the journey where we had to wait for up to 3 hours for one! No forward planning. Absolutely useless do not use.

Where do I start ? Having never had to call them out and test the service I have paid for I was shocked at the Terrible service. Firstly the woman I spoke to on the help line sounded like she couldn't careless about customer service. I've had more engaging conversations with a Cat ! My car broke down about half a mile from home and wasn't drivable, it was on a Sunday and i decided not to call breakdown as it wasn't far to push the car home and call them on Monday to get it towed to the garage. I called them on Monday to be told that they don't do home recovery but they would if it broke half a mile from home or more ! I was more concerned on removing an obstruction, Half a mile !! This is probably the worst excuse for getting out of something I've ever heard. Then the belligerent operative tells me that they could recover it from home but it would be an extra £120, even though I had home start cover on my policy because it wont start and needs recovering that's not included unless the breakdown occurs half a mile from home or more. I phoned an independent recovery company and had my car taken to a garage 15 miles from home for £50, I would have expected this to have been more expensive. For those in the Bedfordshire area the number of the recovery chap is 07909 777640 (Robert) Who I have to say exemplifies what this type of service should be. I always thought of the RAC as a prestigious organisation, however after reading the reviews left by others I can see the whole service appears to have gone to the dogs so to speak. Ironically I also have my car insurance with them and my annual renewal has gone up by over £80, however if I go on to a comparison site I can get it cheaper with them as a new customer ! I have been driving for over thirty years, I have a clean license and have never once claimed on my car insurance yet for being careful you are penalised or ripped off..... Needless to say I am taking all of my insurances elsewhere this year and have saved over £200 in the process.

4 to 6 hours waiting time on the road side, they don't have enough recovery vehicle to covering the customer demand. I call them 4 pm on Wednesday, its 5 hours waiting time. I don't recommend RAC to no one.

Called RAC at 16 .50 hrs regular texts to say they were busy eventually waited 3 hours then to be passed on to a trusted company because RAC waited another hour abismell service . If RAC knew they were busy why didn't they pass the recovery on straight away instead of keeping us waiting all this time

My niece's car broke down on the A458 at around 8pm last night. The police got her car to a lay by and she called the R.A.C. FIVE HOURS LATER, they called her to say they weren't coming until the following day. They've just phoned her at 8am to ask if she's still with the car. THE A.A IS ABOUT TO GET A NEW MEMBER . The RAC is about to lose one and ,I hope, a few more.

Rac what a total mess of a company this is. if you need breakdown cover pay the extra and use AA. make u wait for 10hours after advising u need recovery to then told i now need to wait for a recovery vehicle to be allocated, nothing but a complete shambles customer service are a waste of time, just telling u about procedures that in truth don't help me one bit, can't speak to managers at request so just fobbed of by telephonist who couldnt care what situation your in.

My 4 days old car broke down. I booked a service for the next week and arranged the delivery of the car. RAC booked me for a day before to take the car for the service. On the day of collection I rung RAC to ask for a time slot for collection and it was 10am-1pm. Then I called RAC few times and I was told that they do not guarantee to deliver the car on time. They actually said, that they do not guarantee anything that is going to be delivered today, tomorrow or anytime. Hugely disappointed with the company. If you have a choice avoid. It's very shame but it looks that I have to pay recovery cover with someone else although I have 3 years brake down cover with RAC for brand new car.

They have those flying helicopters and is so noisy and I can feel.the vibration and my roof ceiling in the garage fell down and damaged my car and they won't even let me claim through them. We pay so much for the house insurance. That's not good . Will never insure with RAC. They are useless company

Had taken out key replacement option with my policy, best thing I have done. My key fell apart and it was covered under the policy with CPP. Top rate service from Mr F the technician. Fitted and progammed a new key in just a few minutes. Highly recommend that you take this option, these keys can be very expensive to replace, will definately take it out again on the next renewal. The calim was handled very well by CPP full marks all round. 10/10

Well I would like to send a thumbs up for Jason at your Bristol office who guided me - very patiently - through renewing my RAC cover with my Tesco Clubcard Points. It was last Tuesday the 26th April '22, about 3.15 pm. He was patient and helpful. It took a long time to help us as we aren't computer savvy but he managed to get us sorted. SO WELL DONE JASON! Your patience and professionalism shone through.

They subcontract recovery out to incompetent “trusted partners” such as Richford Motors who have an appallingly reputation and are quite frankly untrustworthy. Avoid using.

Automated system is awful however the engineer who came to my rescue was brilliant knew exactly what was wrong , very knowledgable and offered to get me home after getting car to the garage. He was a great member of the RAC force to represent recovery

Lies lies and more lies… promises and under delivery on all services communication is good but nothing comes of what they promise you take your money and leave you stranded

Left stranded for 5 hours because the first van wasn't able to tow my car. Had to get a friend to take me home and it was 2 DAYS before RAC finally arranged collection of my vehicle. Disgraceful.
