“We have had a fully cancelled flight. Total 24 hours delay. As Air Advisor did not read my explanation they only claimed 1,5 hours compensation. Have reminded them several times of this but no action whatsoever. Disappointed in the service. They only go for standard cases.”

Dear Arthur Feenstra, The flight in question was disrupted due to Operational reasons (KLM ground handling strike) which caused a cancellation. As per EC Regulation 261/2004, this is a situation where there is an entitlement to compensation of 200 EUR per person. The compensation amount in this case has been reduced by 50% in accordance with article 7.2 of the regulation. This reduction applies when the arrival time at the final destination is not exceeded by 2 hours in respect of all flights of 1500 KM or less, 3 hours in respect of all intra-Community flights of more than 1500 KM and all other flights between 1500 and 3500 KM, or 4 hours for all other cases. This reduction applies because the arrival at Amsterdam (AMS) was 24 hours earlier and the total length of the journey from Helsinki (HEL) to Amsterdam (AMS) is 1525 km. “I am not technically astute as I m in my late 77's. I finally managed to complete the steps to conclude the claim process but it was frustrating for me. I had no idea that I would have flight cancelation issues n lacked needed info. When I spoke to AirAd person, she was kind n courteous n I appreciate her trying to help me.”
