The best way to get to the airport!

As a long standing customer of the former airporter service I am extremely disappointed to have to leave a complaint of this nature. I was on the 00:35 service from Belfast international to Derry in the morning of 22nd April. There was a change of driver. One apparently finishing his shift (driver 1) and one taking over (driver 2). Driver 1 seemed to have a Belfast accent if that helps identify him. The bus was very quiet. Perhaps 6/7 customers, with what looked like 50 empty seats. The airport itself was very quiet given the time of the morning. A young lady came to board but her name was not on the itinerary. Her phone was broke and she was unable to show her ticket. Driver 1 (who was not the driver on the seat but seemed to want to hang around anyway) made a point of forcefully telling her that she will not be travelling without showing a ticket. She was able to say when she booked and how much her ticket was but she was unable to show it. Possibly because it was on an earlier service. Notwithstanding that she offered to buy a second ticket but (as her phone was broke) she could only pay by chip and pin, whereas the aircoach only had contactless facilities. She therefore couldn't pay. When she asked the driver 1 who had finished his shift how she was supposed to get home he told her to get off the bus and work it out by the time the next bus comes along (2am). The girl was incredibly distressed and in tears. At this point he told her to 'turn off the waterworks' and again to get off the bus, which, clearly in shock, she did. This was an incredibly difficult thing to watch given that the 6/7 passengers that were on the bus had sat towards the front and could see and hear everything. If anything, it was almost as if this driver was trying to put on a show and demonstrate his power over this young girl. He was degrading and patronising and seemed to take an unusual amount of pleasure out of the interaction. There is a way to deal with these scenarios, and this was the complete wrong way. At this point I had come forward and offered to pay for the girls ticket. The driver again chimed in by telling her she had to transfer me money for the ticket which I told him was none of his business. Immediately the tone of his voice to me (a male) was different to that of the young female. Far less confrontational. I would like to lodge a very strong complaint against this driver. The level of customer service that he displayed to this young lady and in front of other passengers was unbelievably poor. His approach in general (even before this lady arrived) was below par. However, what I witnessed was nothing short of bullying. Moreover, there was no humanity to his approach. No willingness to help find a solution so the girl could travel. There is a duty of care that we all have to each other (especially to young woman very late at night) to take reasonable steps to look after each other. Ticket or no ticket, there was an empty bus going to Derry and a vulnerable girl who would have been left on her own at a quiet airport late at night had this driver got his way. Conversely, I would like to commend the driver who had taken over and made the onward journey to Derry. Before the bus took off, he came to apologise to everyone for what had happened and to reassure the girl that she was ok. By the end of the journey, where the girl was still visibly upset, he stayed for 20/25 minutes with the girl until she was able to call home (From his phone as hers was broken) and for her mum to come and collect her while explaining to the girls mum what happened. This was at 2am when I am sure he wanted to get home himself. Thankfully this man had showed some compassion and common sense. I would be happy to provide further details on this encounter if needed but I would also be grateful to know what action has been taken to ensure that other young people are not subject to the same abuse.

Absolutely disgusting!!! It was clear that the bus - especially the toilet - haven’t been cleaned for days, the smell was unbearable, one of my friends got literally sick from it, there were no windows or anything that could make the smell go away! Definitely not paying again to have the worst trip of my life.

Absolutely terrible 3 hour journey from Dublin To Cork. The toilet was stinking so bad, even if it was opened and the whole smell would be in the bus up till the front. Clearly no one had cleaned it for ages. It was a gas chamber. Worst travel experience.

Got the air coach from Derry to Belfast to realise after leaving I dropped my phone on the bus and called immediately and was able to follow the path onward to Dublin…the phone was never recovered and whilst some staff were helpful but most were dismissive and kept passing the buck which I believe ultimately resulted in the phone being missing/stolen from the bus…these issues were never arose on previous trips with airporter so I’ll not be using your service again

Waiting 30 min at Leeson st upper at 3 a.m. and no bus arrived! I had to take a taxi at 3.30 to catch my flight. Unacceptable, you could remove these times from your timetable if you cannot service!

Planned to 8am aircoach from Clayton Hotel leopardstown to airport. Coach arrived 15mins late and driver then took 15min coffee break. Left Clayton at 8 30, arrived at airport at 10 am and we missed our flight to Instanbul. We are having to spent 6 hours at airport. Disgraceful. Seldom use this service and will definitely think twice goin forward.

Booked an 8am ticket from Clayton to airport (700). Bus arrived 15 minutes late. Driver then disappeared for another 15minutes for a coffee break. Apparently he decided to cancel 8:00 and move it to 8:30. No explanation, nothing. When I asked, he just ignored my question. Unacceptable when people have flights to catch.
