Last week I bought my usual groceries. I bought grapes, two different melons, raspberries and strawberries, plus veg. The only fruit I was able to eat was the honeydew melon. The rest had all gone off within two days of buying it even though the use by dates were for three days after I had thrown them away

Ok. So what's up then. Well I'll tell you. Firstly, it is blatantly obvious that someone, possibly more, from within Aldi, are putting reviews on here themselves. This is done after any negative review. Never mind. At least we can see through it. Let's get on then. I agree with some previous reviews about their shocking checkout system, their BB dates, their bad quality food items and some checkout staff rudeness and false smiles. It seems that most of them work there because it is a job. They pay more but believe me it is a bad company to work for. (Inside info). I also agree about shopping at Waitrose. Their food may very well be a bit more expensive but at least one gets quality. Aldi's plants in the summer? Does anyone actually water them? Asda do the same. At least Morrisons water their plants. They may not do much else but they do that okay. Look folks....cheap food really cannot be good quality. It makes sense really doesn't it. I stay well away from Aldi mostly and only go there for one non food specific item about once every two months.

Just started going to Aldi this past mouth at Rustington, normally shop at Waitrose in Worthing, even those I have to drive a few mile its worth the effort, the quality of the produce & value is great & the staff are exceptional, I normally hate food shopping & now it's a joy. Thank you

Dreadful company with terrible quality and awful checkouts. Be careful of the best before dates on some items, as other reviewers have stated. Cheap, when it comes to food, means every single time not up to scratch quality. It really does. I think for every bad review on this site for Aldi, someone within the company submits a perfect one. Not too complicated but disguised to look like customer feedback. Come on Aldi, we can see through it. Oh, here's the legal stuff re BB dates. Enjoy. "Under European law, best-before (BB) dates show when food is at its premium quality, while use-by (UB) dates show when food must be eaten by before becoming a potential health hazard. 'It's up to the consumer if they want to eat food past its BB date,' says a spokesman for the Food Standards Agency (FSA). 'It only indicates that the food will not be at its best. 'However, UB dates are useful. The manufacturer will have placed this information on the label to show when a food could cause food poisoning if eaten, especially important for children, the elderly and pregnant women.' There we are then. Not as fresh. Then why is it not marked down? I don't wish to buy something not as fresh as the day before.

Great prices on food and wine. Good quality vegetables and fruit and good selection of cheeses.

Terrible quality goods, long queues and ridiculous checkout system. Staff under serious pressure to check out a set amount of items and a checkout designed to annoy and upset. Pity the elderly struggling to cope. It is an utter disgrace. Don't be fooled into thinking their goods are better quality than elsewhere. With food you really do get what you pay for. Oh, and I agree with another review concerning the lack of BBE dates etc on lots of fresh food especially. Do look online, as the reviewer says, and write down their codes for dating items. You will be surprised.

I agree with that last review in full. Everything I wanted to say. Didn't know about the checkout staff having to know prices of everything in the past but do believe it. Typical of a shoddy company. I think most supermarkets are gradually getting worse with their quality of fresh things and in the case of Aldi with everything. Come on people, they are cheap for a reason. It's called quality. Prices simply cannot be kept so low without compromising quality. They are there to get rich, not to make you rich by saving money on good quality items.

Terrible store in Dover, but from what I am told it is the same in most of them. Ok, so their items are cheaper than most, but then so is the quality bad. In fact one saves very little in reality. I think people have it in their head that good deals abound in Aldi. They pop in, buy stuff, and are convinced it is not only cheaper but also better quality. Not true, unless one has taste bud problems. Fresh produce, not all of it though, can be fair quality, but do look out for the lack of best before and sell by dates. They are there but in a code form which mostly it is only staff who know. You can find them online. Write them down and be surprised how much you no longer buy. However, the worse thing about Aldi is the disgraceful attitude of checkout staff and the ludicrous way the checkouts are designed, for high speed. Don't be afraid to rearrange your trolley after they have put it right for you, which is wrong. The best angle for the trolley is the way you want it. You are under no obligation to pack at the packing bars so don't be intimidated. See beyond the smiles to the sarcasm underneath and do it your way. There was a time when Aldi checkout staff had to memorise the price of every single item in stock, in the Netherlands anyway. They only stopped when forced to do so. Health and safety for staff in Aldi stores? Non existent. Well it is there but staff simply cannot comply because of pressure to fill those shelves up. This from a staff member. Never mind. I just wanted to say my piece about a shoddy company.

Their low prices make me happy, although I've noticed the total shop cost is creeping up.

Product was delivered promptly and as expected. Unfortunately the quality of the flat drill bits was below the good value I'd hoped for so I will be returning. I always new this would be a risk as Aldi specialbuys vary is quality though are usually fit for purpose in my experience. In this case, the price was simply too low to allow higher standards.

Aldi in Forfar is without a doubt the best, cheapest and friendliest supermarket. They have everything you need and then some. The staff is very serviceminded aspecially the girl that handles the specials. Thank you for a pleasant shopping.

I loved Aldi initially because of their amazing quality at incredibly low prices, but more recently I have become impressed with their ethical credentials too - they have more local and organic fruit and veg than most of its larger competitors and, unlike some of the UK's biggest supermarkets, use sustainable palm oil across its food range. Excellent work and keep it up!
