Booking ref KXJ70 Tour Ref 5272/1 - Our 1st coach holiday Positives - Coach driver Ian was brilliant very informative friendly and loved telling jokes even though some we had heard before, We would give Ian top marks Negatives - Room allocated 104 which was located in the DUNGEON below ground level no natural light and damp. Furniture in Bar & Restaurant was worn and uncomfortable, seats in restaurant were very low, I had to ask for a cushion to sit on as to reach the table, food was of a low standard and ration sized portions, boiled potatoes every night ! does the chef not know a potato is a very versatile vegetable and can be chipped, baked, roasted, mashed and can be presented in many ways. Other regular Alfa guests commented to us that we had probably picked the worse hotel that Alfa sells for our 1st coach holiday.

We booked the hydro hotel at Llandudno. Departed on Sunday 7th August Coach transfer 1 hour wait at bowburn services. Long journey down just wanted to get to hotel but driver decided to stop at Colwyn bay were we only had one hour.chewed on arrival. The trips although could have been good but we were not given enough time to enjoy definitely needed better planning. We had booked 2 rooms with sea view which we had paid £80 per couple my room had scaffolding up Infront of window plus was we were refunded. The other couple had also paid the same but did not get a sea view so then had the hassle of moving room's. The food was appalling luke warm and in some cases ineadable Some of the menu choices had to be pre orders. Although why I don't know. Has what they labeled beef casserole on Tuesday was then served on Thursday has steak pie they just added a pie crust. On one night I orderd lasagne and it was served with the veg that everyone else had horrible. On the plus side the staff were lovely . Expected more from our alha coach holiday has it was recommended.

Just arrived home from a 3 night stay at the New Beach Hotel Great Yarmouth the hotel was very spacious our triple bedroom was lovely the entertainment was very good every night we was there the reason I have given only 2 stars is because the driver of our tour coach was the most ignorant man you could wish to meet, his name was Carl every time we asked any questions he was very sarcastic we do not expect this from a driver nearly half our age, we went on 2 organized what was supposed to have been half day trips, leaving the hotel at 9.45am arriving at Cromer at 11 am to be told to be back at the coach for 1pm WOW Never knew that was a half day the other trip was worse we only had an 1 hour could have done with roller skates. Now back the hotel meals and service started out out fine until an. extra coach arrived one evening so the next morning at breakfast our coach was totally forgotten, we sat waiting for or our food until thy had served the other coach the whole dinning room was in uproar so disgusting tried to speak to the Manager but he was too busy too see us The next evening, my 48 year old Daughter who has problems with swollowing and eating had been given a soft diet ie jacket potato, etc when asking the waitress for this they promptly told us they did not have any, we asked for the Manager again this time we managed to see him who said they have 2 sacks of potatoes, who is telling porkys now!!!! Asked to have all our meals together it was Fish and Chips for my friend and myself it took nearly an hour to bring our meals and ours were so disgusting they had been reheated, we sent all the meals back and went out for food Please do not use Alfa Travel if you want a good holiday you will certainly not get one here

Travelled to Blackpool from Manchester with Alfa . Hotel Was ok food ok but the travelling was a nightmare. On the way there after leaving Burtonwood we was taken to a garden centre for 2 hours as we could not book into hotel until 3 pm . On the return journey we was picked up from hotel at 10am and the dropped at Southport for 2 and a half hours before being taken to Burtonwood to get on coac for our return to Manchester . It was turned 5pm when we got back to Middleton a journey that took over 7 hours for a journey that is less than 1 hour by car. This is the second alfa trip that we have been in in less than 4 months the other being to Eastbourne in august and the journey took less time than than the return from Blackpool . Sorry Alfa this will be the last trip we take with Alfa not acceptable.

Coach company Grayway contracted by Alfa Travel for Torquay holiday, Hotel Metropole, September 2021 with extremely rude and disrespectful driver Geoff! Geoff left early on one of the included day trips leaving us behind and when telephoned by the hotel reception, refused to turn back to collect us even though he’d only been gone a few minutes saying he was on a duel carriageway which was later disproved by the couch tachograph. When we approached Geoff and asked why he’d left early and not returned he became extremely petulant, was rude and aggressive in manner showing no concern whatsoever regarding our spoiled day and even laughed saying we owed him an apology before walking away. Alfa passed our complaint on to Grayways Management who took no action saying that their braver was a jovial character and refused to take the complaint seriously and offered no apology saying only they considered it out of character. Alfa eventually offered us £10.00 each, total £20.00, in compensation for the missed trip saying they will monitor the driver Geoff in future. We are appalled at the apathetic attitude by the Grayway management to our complaint and their protective stance toward their driver which we find totally inconsiderate as well as unprofessional. We are in our 70s and 80s and found this very upsetting and distressful on what should have been a relaxing and carefree holiday and feel that the driver Geoff let’s the side down against Alfa’s own, employee drivers who have always been pleasant, courteous and helpful. Truly. Mr Stephen Taylor. Southport.

Just returned from Tenby, journey far too long, hotel old, shabby, full of dust and cobwebs, , dinning room chaotic, food poor, staff rushed off feet, half of them not in masks, queuing for meals, unacceptable, in the end we ate out at night! On plus side we had a very comfy bed and lovely sea view. We won’t be using Alfa again.

Food good ,service in restaurant and bar very good. The room we were allocated was tatty, window opened with a block of wood supporting the frame Unfortunately we were in the unrefurbished part but paid the same price as others in better rooms.lt just didn't seem fair .We were told we'd paid standard price. We have already booked for new year at great yarmouth so we hope to be in a nice room like everyone else or we won't book again with Alfa ..

Alfa travel never ever again. Went to the royal hotel in weymouth. Picked up at 8.30 locally arrived at 6.15 pm. went past where we live before ending up at Burtonwood. Given 10 minutes at Burtonwood to go to the loo after almost 4 hours of travel to catch the coach to Weymouth. Arrived at the hotel at 6.15 pm on arrival we were told to take your own luggage to your rooms, you had to book your evening meals there and then no choice stuck with 7.00 pm every night. Rooms were very dusty and not particularly clean. Breakfasts were ok but evening meals well apart from the fact that most of the time we were told sorry we dont have those items on the menu we were always second choice. Staff were lovely about the only plus point. Departure day well nightmare had to take cases down to reception myself at 6.45 am. Breakfast was 7.15 arrived back at 5.30 pm the comfort breaks were a nightmare it was you get 10 minutes some travellers were more feeble and this was very difficult. Would i travel with alfa again no never it was like a proper ordeal and the fact that face masks were not being worn on the coach despite the driver Rob adamantly requesting that passengers do so. This was not a cheap holiday in price but cheap in every other respect.

Stayed in the Cavendish Hotel in Exmouth. The hotel was very drab, dated and is in need of a total refurbishment. The furniture was old and basic. The wallpaper was discoloured and ripped with mould on windows. The bedding was stained with brown marks and some appeared to be spots of dried blood. Pillow smelt musty like sweaty socks. Twin room had two small single beds both with lamps positioned directly over our pillows so we constantly kept banging our heads. The rooms were very noisy and overlooked the bins and laundry. We were told that we would of had to pay extra for a seaview. Housekeeping service was very poor, rooms weren't cleaned but just restocked minimal tea, coffee and milk. We were told they were short staffed and it definately shows! Night time entertainment of a singer and bingo was good but no daytime entertainment for poor weather. TV and Wifi had very poor reception and picture kept breaking up. The meals were satisfactory although they did run out of yorkshire puds with our roasts and the roast potatoes were the new potatoes which we had on previous meals that were roasted. Cabbage was replaced with sprouts without notice. (Sprouts with fish?) Ran out of fresh juice at breakfast then appeared to be watered down. Can't critise the waiters as they were always busy and hardworking, polite and apologetic about any complaints. The excursions were disappointing and no information on the sites and attractions. The coach driver wasn't very sociable and only spoke to inform us when to return to coach. Dropped us off at an Abbey in Darthmouth for two hours. Nowt all to see except spend money in cafe. Same as the other trips, no information given, no direction, just wonder around aimlessly, which was difficult as we had to push a wheelchair around because we weren't allowed to bring his electric scooter, even though it folded quite small. In the end he didn't want to come out on excursions because it was becoming a burden rather than an enjoyable experience. Teighmouth pier was closed off. Is that all Devon/Dartmoor have to offer? So glad to be home and will not be travelling with Alfa Travel in the future. It was our first and our last!

My sister and I have just returned from a "Kew Garden and Windsor Castle" holiday. No problem with visiting Kew Gardens or Windsor Castle in themselves as sites. The Ramada North Hotel was not a 4* hotel. It felt that it needed an update in different areas such as the bathroom; landing carpet on two floors had a hotel in it. The hotel, I think, usually caters for an overnight stay for contractors working on different sites around London, lorry drivers maybe or others passing through. The catering facilities on some meal times, one breakfast and two or three evening meals were very slow and the food often arrived tepid or lukewarm. The dining room was too small and those outside our party had to sit outside in the reception area. On the breakfast side, some food ran out i.e. bacon. We do commend though the staff on reception and the Restaurant Manager, who were very hardworking in trying to accommodate people's requests. Our sympathies with the Restaurant Manager who was trying to run a restaurant with very few staff. This was the same in the morning. The upper eschelons of the Ramada hotel chain need to be looking after their customers and staff more. One of our complaints to Alpha is that you did not state specifically that Windsor Castle needed to be booked well in advance. Not only did the tour give the wrong information concerning the day we were supposed to visit Kew and Windsor (the days had to be swapped over as Kew was closed on the Wednesday) but neither did we know about booking well in advance. The tour guide who came on the bus and showed us around London was very knowledgeable about the history of London and its famous sites but again, if we had known this our expectations would have taken this into account. As it is we expected to have time to go for a boat ride down the Thames instead of wandering round Covent Garden, which as it was crowded was not very pleasant. Gary the driver of the coach was very pleasant and experienced in his handling of the coach, however it seemed to me that because of the mix-up about the days to visit Kew and Windsor there was little communication between him and Alfa staff. The crossover too from the feeder coach to the main coach to London was chaotic, again with very little information from the staff based there except that we were continually told to "stay behind the barriers". This was true before our journey and on our return. Alfa you need to step up regarding information and communication not only in your advertising but with your clients (the passengers) and your own staff.

Just returned from a 5 day holiday in London stayed at. The Ramada North just off the M1 hotel is in the middle of a car park so you could not safely walk around outside after dinner. Rooms were basic but clean staff helpful and always happy to help manager of hotel very obliging. First problem was you carried your own suitcase to your rooms ok if your young I am 76 as were most of us in our coach some a little younger 2 Meals were served late 7.45 but we're changed to 6.45 but only at the insistence of our driver Gary who was Very helpful and cheerful all the time. 3 nothing to do with the hotel went to Windsor for for 5 hours couldn't get into the castle as you have to pre-book the day before all slots were full. Apparently the hotel we should of gone in was changed because if complaints but the Ramada was really for lorry drivers and coach drivers and people going to the airport using this hotel as a stop over which is ok but not for a coach load of pensioners on a 5 day jolly. Sorry Alfa you let us down would of been better to have cancelled till you found a more suitable hotel. This was my first Alfa holiday & probably my last.

Went to Criccieth in Wales. Room awful paid extra for view, we got scaffolding outside the window, hotel under refurbishment which we were not aware off. No heating room really cold had to have a remote radiator on all day, also extra quilt. Food awful, the chef is only a cook could not even cook roast potatoes. The waitress was fantastic, could not fault her. When we complained to the manager he said it’s not his fault complain to Alfa, which we did on return. The tours also were fantastic could not complain about them either, which we really enjoyed. Thank you. We have traveled with Alfa before and have always had a very nice holiday. When returning from Wales, we went out of our way to drop a guy off who was on the same holiday as us, due to this we got to the services only 20mins before we had to get on our feeder coaches. My sister does not live near me so no time for goodbyes just loo and buy something to eat, which was very sad.

1 Week stay at the George IV hotel Criccieth 29th August 2020. The room we stayed in (202) was cold and damp there were damp stains on the wall and wallpaper was hanging off, the windows were covered in black mould and draughty and had a cracked glass, aslo the net curtains had mould on them, the fire door did not fit and let light in all around the frame. Room 202 is right next to the fire escape and from the window you could see the escape route, it as well lit but overgrown with brambles, would not like to tackle that in an emergency. The bathroom, paint peeling off, heated towel rail removed and not replaced, shaver light replaced and left undecorated, the shower sprayed more water out of the hose than the head, bath had a horrible stain, and once again mouldy windows plus rusty light fitting. Overall this room needs gutted and refurbished. The food was OK but basic, on two nights the chefs specials were bangers and mash, and chicken curry with chips, not my idea of hotel food. We have stayed previous at the Cumberland Hotel Scarborugh in Febuarythis year and had much the same experience, although the room was somewhat better if basic the hotel was tired. Having now learned from experience We will not be using Alfa travel again

We waited nearly 2 hours at victoria for our feeder mini bus.we were then squashed as he had to collect another 5 people ... at reading we had 5 mins to have a pee and get food .... (we had left home at 7.45). when we arrived at bognor our friend was given a room that had damp beds .. the manager gave the impression like it or lump it... After threats he found a different room. First time with Alfa After all that we had a very good holiday.. wonderful staff food entertainment.

We have just returned from The Metrepole Torquay. We had expected an Alpha coach but travelled in Stanley coach a new coach but with very little leg room and since returning I have had to have tests for suspected d.v.t.The hotel is very run down.We paid for an upgrade but found electric sockets hanging off the wall. The shower also not fixed to wall securely and very temperamental. We had entertainment on only two of four nights. The food was fine and staff very helpful and apologetic.

Highland & Islands I thought this tour would offer the chance to take in the stunning views and wildlife of Scotland take photo's marvel at the sights enjoy the scenery first hand. However all we did was see the sights from the coach window as we passed all the splendure no stopping for photo's no stopping to admire the wildlife all passed by as we sped past on the coach . The only time we did stop was to go round round some gift shops. This is not my idea of a tour and I am very disappointed and feel I wasted my money. I would love to say I enjoyed my trip but unfortunately I did not all the photo opportunities were missed. So if you would like to see Scotland in a flash then this is the tour for you.

just returned from a trip to "Derbyshire Dales" staying at the Jury's Inn Sheffield. beautiful hotel exceptionally clean well decorated with good sized rooms. The two stars reflect a number of things, Poor facilities at Bowburn interchange (nothing new). In my opinion dreadful food at the hotel. Ate out after the first night. Some staff were very nice some rude and unpleasant, This hotel is clearly not geared up for the coaching trade. Alfa try to cram too much into each day visiting two places when one has enough to pass the time available. On the last day we spent more time on the coach than at the places visited. Their own Leisureplex hotels seem to cater better to the coaching trade but are not up to the same decorative standard as the Jury's Inn.

Booking Ref BKL64 Departure date 23/06/19 We have just returned from 7days at the Cliffe Norton tenby in the brochure it states it has just been recently refurbished on arrival we where allocated rooms 5+6 one single and one double both with sea views to get to the rooms we took the lift to floor 2 but had to walk down the stairwell to get to the rooms, this stairwell also doubled as a fire escape if a fire had started at the bottom of it god knows what would have happened on entry to the room we noticed the lack of space it was very tight for two people to move about. the room it self did not appear to have been refurbished the radiator was rusting. paint was peeling and ceiling was stained. the bathroom? well to get in you opened the door stood at the side of toilet then shut the door to gain access to the wash basin which was hidden behind the door .the bath had big piece of enamel chipped off the wash basin w as not fully sealed (sealant missing). very hard to regulate shower one minute ok the next boiling hot readjust then to cold readjust again start all over then give up. the reception and bar area well used but basic faults spotted like no toilets on the ground floor ladies up the stairs towards the restraint via step (1 toilet only ). gents up 9 steps ( 1 urinal 1 toilet ) not very good for people with walking difficulties ( a lot of your clients) that's the bad news over good news lovely views ,nice food, nice bar area, great staff who you cannot fault. I only hope my next holiday with alfa which is already booked for Great Yarmouth proves to be better are it could be the last booked with you. a reply would be most grateful. thank you Linda and Jimmy Miller 30/06 2019
