Customer service is appalling and the company actively condone fraud against customers by their employees and those employed by them. If you believe they have not acted correctly with you obtain a Subject Data Access Request ( details on web ) that will show you exactly how they have treated you and the service is free. Documents I obtained show that they only authorise the minimum work required to re-instate the property and ignore damage even more serious if not reported by you. New for old replacement is made on a like for like basis which is much lower than the claims made in policy documents. If they use Cunningham Lindsey beware because they actively participate in fraud to reduce the impact of claims to the insurers and in my experience manipulate survey results to achieve the desired outcome, in short both companies are nothing more than crooks.

Very disappointing service from Aviva - involved in an accident and Aviva spent 6 weeks saying they were unable to get hold of the 3rd party insurer for them to claim liability. I was then told that they were contacting the wrong insurance company all this time. The 3rd party liability was confirmed 6 weeks after the accident as soon as they contacted the correct insurance company. This error meant I had no access to a courtesy car and Aviva couldn't have been less interested. Now Aviva are trying to argue that the engine damage is not related to the accident, which is a complete joke, as it is clear that the impact had compromised the coolant pump and engine pump, which both failed within hours of the accident. Wish I had opted for and insurer that would have had my back after this unfortunate accident. Pay more and get proper insurance cover, is my advice.

Great company at promising they'll always be there for you. In practice their simple garbage. Avoid at all costs, there's better out there. 29 year customer!

Unbelievable been with them for years! They increased my policy and i called up to ask why and they litteraly had no reason. i said and proved i had better quotes from similar insurance companies and they wouldn't even match. So disapointing that a company is not willing to keep loyal customers who have never claimed. I will not be using them again!

An Aviva customer has reversed into my car and damaged it. I have chased and chased politely as has my insurance company and tomorrow it will be 8 weeks to the day since the incident has happened. They still haven't agreed the work to be done and i am still without my car, through no fault of my own. Frustrated beyond belief.

Being pestered with mailboxes and red tape after taking out a car policy . Problem with being made to contact my previous insurer to obtain a letter confirming my no claim period despite sending them the renewal notice showing it.Took them almost 5 weeks to say it was not sufficient.Once upon a time insurance companies used to communicate with each other. Now you are expected to TRY and contact them by telephone holding on for ever at a premium rate. Then speaking to a person with poor diction. Aviva are not alone.A better company when they were Norwich 'Onion'.

I claimed a third party accident. aviva was least concerned to contact third party. instead they kept telling me i should get the car repaired as claim against policy. I had to run around myself and contacted third party who agreed to do the repairs. worst experience with this insurance company. not recommended.

Are you thinking to get a car insurance from Aviva? Think twice if you will pay it monthly as they will treat it as “unsecured loan” rather than insurance and THIS will give you really bad effects on your Credit Score. It happen to me! Even you pay it off in two months, that label “unsecured loan” will stay months in your record. Especially when you are thinking to get mortgage etc, Be careful with their product!!

Tried to access my online pension details - after an hour of trying I was told to call in to get them, except no-one is available until Tuesday 6th April even though I have 5 other pensions with various insurers- ALL of who had online portals I could access to gain the information on my policies and even arrange transfers, take money etc. ALL ONLINE. I posted a poor review and their social media team get in touch with me to "help" - The help was telling me to call in tomorrows someone "should" be available. They give you a push into using their online pages and then you find they don't put that information on it so its absolutely useless for the purpose it should have been designed for

I lost my husband last year and was awarded the pension, I was informed there was some dispute, and since then there has been 0 contact, no emails, no calls. Cannot reach them as apparently they've received a high volume of calls for apparently a year now. It's bad enough to loose someone, then to expect to be made whole, then to be left in the cold with 0 ways to contact. I don't know what else to do. How is this an acceptable way to handle people who rely on your professionalism in such a difficult time? Shame on you.

Avoid Aviva car insurance at any cost! I have been with Aviva for nearly five years. My policy was renewed on Feb 21. I received an email yesterday that my policy is cancelled due to the late payment. I called Aviva’s customer service today to figure out what is going. I was told today that Aviva was not able to process the payment in March, and they decided to cancel my policy with a day's notice. I was told that a letter was sent on Mar 4. I didn’t receive the letter. Aviva offered me a new policy for £168, twice the price that I was paying in Feb. I am shocked and terrified that Aviva decided to cancel my policy without prior notice. I was driving my car yesterday uninsured … I am shaking right now, imagining what could have happened If I had an accident while driving an uninsured vehicle. I work for health organisations supporting COVID programmes, working 16-18 hours a day. My day is disrupted. I am panicking. I don’t have time to look for a new policy. I am in tears and shaking. … Please avoid Aviva.. Only if I had an accident, unknowingly driving an uninsured car.

My mother paid £5000 into her sunlife and then change to aviva funeral policy, she paid in every month, 2 weeks ago the day before her 94th birthday she died, We contacted aviva to get the payment for her funeral, only to here ‘ oh we contacted your mother in 2018 to tell her she needed to update her policy, if she didn’t on her death she will only receive £699,’ my poor mother had by then started suffering from dementia, she had no idea what the letter meant and left it in the drawer, so Aviva I told us they would only pay out £669, this is a awful treatment and a terrible way to make money from an old lady, who had paid into Sun life and then aviva for years, they should not be allowed to get away with this, now my mother will have to have a paupers funeral, I hope aviva is proud of itself, do not be fooled by Aviva

One year into a Pandemic they still say they can’t answer the phones. Never less than a 20 min wait identified to you when you call. How is this acceptable on a month to month basis? You call is totally unimportant to them! They they say on the recorded message that they are “sorry to keep you”. I want to access my pension so I guess they prefer to keep the money by making impossible to use their app for this type of transaction.

Impossible to get through to? All I want is to renew my policy! After 45min on the phone I was put through to sales and they hung up on me. Another hour later still haven’t gotten through. It’s an absolute joke

Not settled nearly FOUR years since my… Not settled nearly FOUR years since my car was stolen. Three complaints to the Financial Ombudsman Service. Aviva now have to pay the balance. They admitted there were “unnecessary delays” and offered compensation that was less than 1% of the claim (that they have never paid this anyway and not subsequently re-offered) Still awaiting the balance but the claims handler isn’t sure how Aviva will pay, even though they have my bank details. As the policy didn’t offer any courtesy car or Aviva had no costs building, they used every excuse to play for time. I would never insure with Aviva again

They repair my bumper and refuse to fix the rear camera. It was the result of the car being hit from the rear that the camera did work, it's so logical. I received your response and it was like I had commit fraud by telling you lies!

Do not place your Buildings Insurance with Aviva - AVOID AT ALL COSTS. ZERO STARS DESERVED. In October 2019 my neighbours flooded my property leaving my bathroom with significant damage and unusable. The handling of my claim from Day 1 by Aviva has been appalling. Firstly they lost my claim and did nothing; in the meantime the ceiling collapsed causing more damage. The Loss Adjustor assigned, and the surveyor they employed, mis-surveyed the property then proceeded to keep me in an unsafe property until I ended up moving myself out due to severe asthma attacks caused by the damp and dust. The treatment by the Loss Adjustor has been disgusting, gaslighting springs to mind, not to mention all of the mistakes they have made and games they have played due to their penny pinching and prime focus to achieve their bonuses. The building company assigned uses cheap materials and labour that can only be described as jack of all trades and cowboys. 15 months on I still do not have a bathroom and it is unsafe. The work that has been done is defective and needs ripping out and starting again and 50% of the works are not complete despite both of Aviva's subcontractors claiming it is. Then there is the damage caused to other rooms in my property by the subcontractors; carpets not covered up and now ruined, items broken, scruffs and dints out of my walls requiring redecoration. There is over £5,000 worth of damage and that's before you calculate the costs of putting the bathroom back to the way it was pre-flood. I have sent Aviva pages and pages of complaints and numerous photos but they still don't believe me and just send me back to their incompetent subcontractors. My complaints are pretty much ignored by Aviva, no apologies, nothing addressed, questions ignored, nothing done to put anything right. E-mails are ignored, call are ignored, voicemails not returned, investigations and responses to formal complaints in my opinion do not meet the guidelines set out by the Financial Ombudsman and Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). I sent a separate complaint re the latter and someone from Aviva called and said they agreed with me; then the CEO's office got involved and then suddenly my complaint is once again not acknowledged and nothing is done. There seems to be a tactic of dragging out responses to complaints, it is now 5 months since my original formal written complaint which took Aviva 2 months to provide a formal response to, and then pointing people to the Financial Ombudsman in the hope people will go there and stop contacting Aviva. Great tactic Aviva as you know the wait time is around 4 months and people can't live a normal life in a property without a bathroom. I am now over 12 months living in a property without a safe and fully working bathroom. Nothing has been done in over 9 months. Aviva my contract is with you, you are responsible for the subcontractors so stop hiding behind this and either sort out the issues with alternative subcontractors or pay me a settlement so I can bring my own contractors in to do the work. Do not subject me to another 15 months of hell which has damaged both my mental and physical health. Having read multiple reviews for Aviva I am horrified by how Aviva treat their customers and the impact this is having on people - stress, depression, heart attacks, financial hardship. It is utter hell dealing with this company. I have sent a letter directly to the CEO of Aviva UK and await a response. I will provide updates through this channel on progress, or lack of.
