We visited local store in ashford kent today. Nathan on the timber saw on the building department was 5 stars all the way I wish his colleagues were half as good. We asked about a product check from someone else on another department, after a few minutes I could see the lady had just gone back to stacking shelves and completely ignored we were still waiting... Another staff member shouted over the aisle a few minutes later"are you the one who wants to know if we have any of these in stock?... No... I dont think we've got any". Not great customer service.

B&Q and Valspar paint partnership. I’m currently decorating my new house and used valspar paint (partnered with B&Q) from B&Q because I wanted to mix paint. Having used their dulux mix many times in the past I thought it was a good idea. They now only stock a limited amount of colours from dulux and other companies so I bought a regular valspar paint and a valspar wood paint too. It was appalling. It’s much more expensive than the other paints they sell and has terrible results. I had to put 6 coats on 1 of the walls as it was being painted over a darker colour. It comes off with the roller as you paint it on and dries streaky. The wood paint took 3 coats over the white I was painting over, which had yellowed. To put it in perspective I painted other rooms with dulux. It went on beautifully and even when painting a pale heather cover over dark red paint it only took 2 coats. Dulux wood paint only took one coat. I used 5 litres Of Valspar on our tiny spare room And less than 5 litres on our enormous bedroom which is 19x20 feet. Valspar is expensive and of terrible quality and yet B&Q have had an awful lot of publicity for the “transformative” new relationship they have. I can only assume that B&Q make more money on valspar than they do on competitor paints. From now on I’ll be buying other brands from somewhere where they stock a variety of brands. I’ve been using dulux and Annie Sloane wall paint (which still worked out cheaper despite the high price tag because as with dulux you need very little) and those rooms look amazing. I’ll be painting over the valspar paint as soon as I’ve finished the other rooms I’ve got a lot of experience in decorating (I used to renovate houses) and I’ve never used paint as poor quality as this. If B&Q want to keep customers they really should consider partnering with a brand that achieves decent results.

I Bought 2 lengths of kitchen unit plinths, cost £12.00 each. After I cut them to length (the longest 1 meter) I noticed that it has started to curve (bow) along its length. While it's still useable it is unsightly. I am VERY disappointed. My advice is not to buy this product and buy the more expensive plinths.

I ordered a new saw on Saturday and received an email saying they'd deliver on Monday (this company promises next day delivery). Monday came and went and no saw. So I rechecked the email and noticed it said Monday the week after! So basically I'm going to have to wait a full week for something they promised would be here next day (which I needed for a job). I called customer services and after waiting ages, the woman I talked to (while polite) was completed useless and couldn't change my order to be delivered sooner. Over all I'm extremely irritated, nothing should take over a week to be delivered from a UK company in this day and age, especially when they promise next day! Oh and they refused to cancel the order. I certainly won't be ordering from them again.

Took about 6 hours of phone calls to B&Q to get an item transferred from one branch to another. First I called my local branch then was advised to call headquarters. The chap I spoke to first on the HQ number said there was no such thing & fobbed me off telling me to phone Screwfix - after an hour of prevaricating. I did this pointless call & then phoned B&Q back. The second chap immediately said I needed an 'Iinterbranch transfer' & then it took 2 further long calls to the branches to get it sorted. Calls took a long time as 'managers' had to be located etc.& I was told to call the wrong branch first to arrange the transfer.

Much Too Expensive First I must say you can't fault the staff, but many of their prices are way too expensive e.g. unibond clear silicon bathroom sealer was a few pence short of £10. Where as I have since seen similar product elsewhere for £3+. Well the old adaged, one caught twice shy, will apply for me when shopping at B&Q in future. Also, as a senior citizen I have already seen them take away our 10% discount for so called better pricing - who are they kidding - And, as for their own brand dial products, many are below par, in particular, don't waste your money on their white spirits because it's useless.

My new kitchen is lovely, however a 10 day delay re delivery and 3 weeks with no kitchen does not seem to be that important to B n Q. Changing your ranges needs to be something you tell the customer at point of sale, not 1 day before delivery is due.

This is the second time I have been into your Halifax store in the last 6 months to get some Valspar paint mix ( I needed a litre for touching up ) only to be told again that you had run out of ‘Base A’ so again I had to buy 2.5 litres a size which I didn’t really need . Is this a ploy to upscale sales ? Also your Trade Point card is useless to the small tradesperson , no discount unless spending thousands . Wickes have got it right , 10% off anything with no minimum spend . Not happy with B&Q

Beware! B&Q kitchen furniture is NOT waterproof. After 2 years a couple of doors on our £16000 kitchen had swollen. We claimed on the product warranty in December 2018. After much chasing, the so-called "aftercare" team announced after five months that the damage was not covered by the warranty.

We haven't even had our delivery yet and things aren't boding well. 2 weeks to wait for a standard item. Absolutely no choice in delivery options and we will only be told the two hour time slot the night before the delivery is due so no time to rearrange meetings at work. Very unhelpful and inflexible.

I used to work for B&Q and they have definitely gone down hill. I do still occasionally go in there, but I use Wicks as well. B&Q talk about Customer Service, but it is often awful, although some staff are very good. The complaints about Kitchen's & Bathrooms, I know they are all true. People probably don't know that staff are now recruited based on whether they can answer 18 'situational' questions, they refuse to hire anyone, even someone who has years of proven very good customer service in a B&Q store, if they don't answer those questions 'correctly'. From the reviews I have read about appalling customer service in many stores, this approach has clearly backfired on them, but they absolutely refuse to change it. The Diamond Card changes have alienated many older people, now only Seasonal items are discounted on Wednesdays. I have often found a lot of decorating items cheaper in the Range, Wicks and Wilko. I was told by a Tradesman who worked in a Nickle Plating Company, that the plating in B&Q lighting, bathroom items etc.. was so poor it would tarnish or rust very quickly, and this did appear to be the case. I bought a Cooke & Lewis mixer tap, it lasted 8 months, and I had to buy another one from a Store recommended by a plumber. The plumber refused to have a B&Q Trade Card, he would not use their products. It is also true, that writing to the CEO or any other Senior Officer will not be acknowledged or replied to. I did that months ago, & it was totally ignored, because they do not care about employees, ex-employees or Customers if you dare to criticise B&Q.

Bought Jaz outdoor furniture. Unpacked and found top cushion filthy - instructed wife to clean it rather that try and get everything back in the box ! Nice design, looks great but I cannot understand how mass produced elements cannot fit ! Assembled a chair and table fine. Second chair had to be 'pursuaded' to fit together but worked fine. However I did not notice before assembly that the back of the settee was 5mm short of the space for it to fit into. You don't expect that, right, so you soldier on and tighten the bolts. Too late, it distorted one of the uprights. Will B&Q replace it, yes, of course they will, but doubtless only all of it, dissassembled and back in the scientifically packed box. If they would just replace the settee I would be happy but, can I be bothered with the hassle of all of it - no. It will just be a settee with character and hopefully others will heed this review.

Made us wait for over 30 minutes only to be told that they cannot do a servic (cutting materials) (Paul who was apparently on a long break and was rude). Why are the other staff not trained to troubleshoot and help customers rather than wasting time, one would only be left wondering!

What on earth are you doing at B&q Peterborough - the refit is chaos, why not start in one area at a time, complete it and then the next or close the store completely it’s just a shambles. Time a chief exec presiding over these shambles went before they destroy a useful company. We didn’t want a refit, some new ranges yes but not the carnage. Just go straight to wicks now.

This review isn’t directly at B&Q but a joint between them and Be Modern. We purchased the Be Modern Beauport Fire Suite in Cashmere for the downlight LED effect. First of all cashmere to Be Modern looks grey in the home. It might look Ivory/off white in the store with all of the artificial lights but it certainly looks grey at home. The LED lights have to be installed and a plug fitted by yourself. There isn’t a switch for the lights so if you are hoping for a all wire hidden fire suite then think again. You will have to unplug the lights to turn them off. There are 3 switches on the fire, surely one of these could have operated the lights. The customer service of Be Modern was awful. They deliver when and on,y when it suits them. I was told that if I can’t be home for the delivery then a neighbour would have to take it. It’s an assembled fire suite. It’s huge and very heavy. Who would be able to accept that and then how are you meant to move it when it takes 2 delivery men to drop off!?

Went to Stevenage store after 3 months of aggro trying to get a refund for rubbish bi fold doors, was met by a woman who, quite frankly needs lessons in customer service. She acted like she couldnt be bothered? I asked to see the building manager and was told hes at lunch and thats it, so asked I asked to see the store manager and she reluctantly called him. After ten mins still waiting so I asked her to find out whats happening. No help at all. Be a long time before I buy from there again, would rather travel to Biggleswade and shop in Homebase.

Do the words ‘customer service’ exist in this company? In Belfast I asked for help with a Xmas tree, a grunt was received from one staff member, not sure what she actually said. God forbid everyone eye contact should be met ! After 10 mins and another enquiry a nice gentleman came to help B & Q, get your act together and train your staff properly or else get new staff!!!

Called in today to get 3x sheets of 9mm ply only to be told they had sold a full pallet load that morning and they had none left (which I find very hard to believe at 11:30), I was then advised to go to Selco, staff couldn't even be bothered to check if another store had it, so I've now signed up to Selco and they were more than helpful, think I'll be going there from now on (thanks for the tip)
