Boatsmart was good. The customer service is GREAT and I got a good bit of knowledge but when completing the exam, there were questions which weren't addressed during the course.

I thought the content was acceptable but the course execution was poor. The fact that you must completely re-watch an entire failed module rather than just redo the quiz is ridiculous. The entire course took far too long to complete. I would not recommend this course. I would suggest getting your licence at your local boat show instead - waaaay faster.

I think that the person taking the course should have the option of watching all of the videos before taking the test. I read the whole book beforehand so the three hours of videos were not needed in my case. However, the information is important for everyone to know.

The course was very very long and tries to cover all it's basis with one course. For boaters who will ever boat on a lake this was overkill. I felt as though the testing tried to trick you for a fair bit of it rather than test your knowledge...by using or confusing words to trick you. Way too long but I think the final test was fair...although the module tests 80% too high.

It's good but then penalty for getting a 70 is awful. I got 3 wrong on the 2nd module and it wasted 2 hours of my time.

There should be an option to skip the lengthy audio/video. If somebody wants to watch/listen so be it, but I prefer to read, which I did and than I got bored waiting for the program to finish the audio/video presentation. I needed to read and learn, I did not needed a nanny to shove down my throat how should I do that Otherwise, information was good, learned a lot and, most important, passed the final test. The reason I went with Boatsmart after reading reviews like mine ? I'm a cheap guy and I got it at a promotional 50% off

I Think the course would be more useful and time sensitive if you were able to customize according to the boat you own. We are purchasing a pontoon boat and I found a lot of the information to be overload. Also it is my understanding that there are similar courses that are a lot shorter than the Boatsmart one.

There should be levels of this course based on the type of navigation one plans on doing. If you are a pleasure craft owner and have a cottage on a lake and never need to navigate major waterways or large bodies of water, a 6 to 7 hour course is a bit much. Also, considering that most people who already have a licence did little but pay $50 for it, you might consider a time limit. These may be comments for Government but you are in the best position to make the case including the comments you ask us to exclude which are huge frustrations.

Frequently videos did not open up, frustrating to have to frequently go to a YouTube tab and then back to the program. Videos could have been more informative perhaps showing real examples of bouys or flares or people backing up their trailer. This would have held my attention better and actually provided tangible information. I understand that the government sets the time for the course but after the video has played and there are 30 sec left I am left just staring at the timer until i can watch the next slide. Other slides the timer is up way before the content is read. Perhaps this can be balanced. Overall pretty average course.

TOO LONG! There are 30-40 lessons per module! The information was often repetitive and not applicable to most boaters, unless you are on the ocean.

Time required of each module isn't the same as the actual module. One video in lesson 7 (I think) I had to watch more than 2 times before I could continue.

Course went along well but an all day affair. WOW! I did learn a lot but way too much information for me who just bought a small boat to do a little fishing around home.

The timing needs to go away. When your done reading it. The timer keeps going until the end you should not need to wait for the time to expire to go to the next step. It takes to long to wait.

Quite engaging and informative considering the topic matter can seem monotonous. The website was glitching slightly where it would logout or repeat lessons. Not sure if that’s anti bot and being done purposefully but quite enraging at points. Overall useful website and well put together.

please use easier words for younger people or people who don't have English as a first language. explanation on the video was very understandable but questions were very hard to understand on the exam. i prefer to you to use similar vocabulary/words in the video and exam.

Some of the content was over and above but I know it's hard to figure out what to put in a course. During the module section it would be nice to know the right answers to questions you got wrong.

Test questions should be about what do you need know to safely drive a boat. Who cares what legislative organization wrote the rule. You should also break the modules down into smaller sections. If you fail one module it means you need to spend another hour going through it. Smaller sections would shorten that time. It is also a very long time to complete this, I feel it could be shorter. I also suggest having different levels of licencing like you do for automobiles ie. normal car licence the you can get M for motorcycle or transport truck licence.

Thought the course was pretty good. Wish there was a course that cut some of the basic stuff. Have been around boats my whole life. Needed the lessons on buoys, signals, lights, proper right away and required safety requirements but some of it was too basic. Was hard to keep mind on real beginner stuff for so long.
