You should have different tests for people who want to go fishing with their kids in a land locked province who will never operate a larger vessel at sea

Module 2 is a pain in the ass, if they could split it into two and have 8 modules in total, it would be a bit more bearable

The time gated lessons are a real pain, I would finish reading each one in about half the minimum time.

Thanks for taking time to leave feedback William! We understand the test can take a while for some students, but the time requirements and quizzes are required by Transport Canada and NASBLA to ensure students of all reading levels are able to fully understand all content. The timed requirements are the same across all course providers, and we find many students prefer the convenience of completing the course from the comfort of home, rather than in a classroom setting. Thanks for sticking with it and safe boating!

I did not like the fact that if I would have failed a test I would need to take the entire module over again Their should be an option to view the course to review it but it’s unfair to take over an entire module! Also it would be helpful to show which answers we got wrong and show us the correct ones so we can learn from our mistakes. I also don’t like the fact that you need to pay extra for going back to a course after you completed it. Atleast give a short few days to go back and review for free before charging. Other than that I enjoyed the video presentation as it clearly spelled out more items in detail. I also tried applying some coupons to the order and not even one worked. Overall would say it’s an acceptable course with a few trick questions but it did the job

You should express the amount of time it takes to take the course

There were some instances where spelling errors were present. In one review, a question was asked and the content to the question was not covered until three modules later (re: Type A alpha dive flag). The set time per page requirement is frustrating. For faster readers, having to spend that amount of time per lesson is maddening.

The program was good, I actually learned quite a bit but some questions on the final test were not covered. Also, when doing the modal quizzes, you aren't given the correct answers to the ones you get wrong so you dont learn anything and likely carry those wrong answers over to the final. And lastly, the time allowed for each lesson is way too long, I finished reading and then sat there for upto minutes each lesson waiting to move on. What a waste of my time.

I learned a lot from the videos and book, I wish however that I could have seen what questions I got wrong and their answers so I could learn from my mistakes.

Hi Catherine - thanks for the feedback. Since there are a finite number of test questions and the test is open book and unsupervised - Transport Canada and NASBLA regulate that the answers not be shown. This is one of the check and balances put into place to maintain the integrity of online testing. As boaters too, we understand the feedback and are working with regulators to try and improve the process within the confines of online testing. Thanks for sticking with it and safe boating!

You need to tell people what they did I wrong on the exam so they know what they did wrong and how they can imprive. That lack of knowledge could save or lose someone’s life.

That was WAY too long and labour intensive. Wanted to quit several times during the process! I have a little fishing boat on a small lake. Dear god did I have to know all that information!

My only complaint was that I was not able to be told which questions I answered wrong on the quizzes, so that I could go back and review the material in order to learn from my mistakes. I didn't need to be told the correct answer, but to know which questions were answered wrong would have been useful. Some of the material in the online course seemed to be presented in a slightly different manner from the book. As I did the main test, I was unable to find exact answers in the book, to match the question being asked. A complete re-write of the book and the online course so that they are both congruent would be my suggestion.

Content is extremely informative and helpful but the 30 second video design hinders interest and focus. I would advise making a lecture one module long.

Way too long and drawn out, i could fully read most sections and then listen to it and still have considerable time left before next lesson option became available to me. Sometimes also i the timer would run out on a lesson but the next lesson link would not appear instead it would sit at 00:00 and do nothing causing me to refresh the page which also reset the timer, as if this wasnt drawn out enough....the only reason i would recommend this to a friend is because its MANDATORY smh...

I was disappointed that when taking a quiz, you could not review the answers that were wrong. I feel that this should be changed - very frustrating!

Alot of information is repetitive. A couple of the quiz questions were poorly worded as well. Also took more like 6 hours vs 3.

It was just very long to do! The exam wasn’t bad but didn’t like that I could see a timer count down the time left.

Boatsmart was good. The customer service is GREAT and I got a good bit of knowledge but when completing the exam, there were questions which weren't addressed during the course.

I thought the content was acceptable but the course execution was poor. The fact that you must completely re-watch an entire failed module rather than just redo the quiz is ridiculous. The entire course took far too long to complete. I would not recommend this course. I would suggest getting your licence at your local boat show instead - waaaay faster.

I think that the person taking the course should have the option of watching all of the videos before taking the test. I read the whole book beforehand so the three hours of videos were not needed in my case. However, the information is important for everyone to know.
