“Long test but helpfull”

“it didn't I found the course to be to difficult especially for older generation, and if fail a module one don't know what questions one had wrong and have to watch the whole thing over again, and unlike final exam module test questions are not in line with important parts of the module.”

“I find you can review the content in most lessons much, much quicker than the the time they allocate to it which makes the course take a lot longer than it needs to be since you can't move on before the timer's up. You spend a lot of time just watching a timer waiting for it to expire so you can move on. Set aside some time for this... it's definitely not quick.”

“Great program. I was more than disappointed to read the book for a week straight only to find out I had to spend 5 hours doing the program online with out the option to just write the exam.”

“Self-directed layout. Multiple media options to choose from. The time requirements were a bit frustrating in that some pages required you to stay well beyond the video/audio were done, let alone being able to read the text much faster than the allotted time. I get the need to use the timing so people don't click right through, but it shouldn't be longer than the provided media for each section.”

“The content and how it was presented in videos was very easy to understand. The state-specific information was interspersed at the right time. However, every new lesson, I had to scroll down to get the whole video on my screen (using a MacBook Pro 15" screen and Chrome ). Also, the timing of the video did not coincide with the timing of letting you go to the next lesson, so the video would start repeating itself and I waiting until I was able to move to the next lesson. Finally, the questions weren't always the best. For example, if you teach that navigation rules can be broken to avoid danger, then make sure you don't have a question that says, "Why must navigation rules always be followed?" with no choice indicating they can be broken to avoid danger. (Perhaps that example wasn't on the quizzes/test, but it servers as a proper example of what I experienced on a couple questions).”

“It was nice to be able to study the material at home and I thought that the quizzes at the end of each module were good. Being able to write the final exam in front of my computer was a good and relaxed way to do it. However, I found the study sessions were much too lengthy and believe that I would have been better off to have the book while doing the online course. I will be purchasing the Boatsmart book and keep it on my boat for reference.”

“Lots of good information but at the same time a bit redundant some modules tell you about the same things as others do. Most of it is common sense and if you don't have that then you probably shouldn't be driving. I would recommended boat smart to a friend only because you have to have it to drive a boat (government money grab) the only usefull thing is the navigational and right of way modules in this course, to spend a few minutes teaching ppl to use soap and water to clean a life jacket is a waste of time, maybe clean up your guy's videos course and delete the stupid redundant stuff that wastes time”

“After having BOATsmart switch me to the English version, I was ok. I was very disappointed that there was no way for us as users to switch the language of the lessons and tests, especially since I did a large portion of the work at night when you were offline. Also, the French has MANY spelling and grammar mistakes. It is hard to understand sometimes and the questions in the tests were very challenging compared to the English ones, to understand. “Prepared me for the exam. I hate the mandatory time required to read each module. I can read fast but had to wait for the countdown. Would be much better if one could just read the manual at their own pace and then write the exam.”
