Hi Catherine - thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We definitely understand that the course timers can be frustrating, but they are mandated by Transport Canada and NASBLA because the testing is online and unsupervised. The course timers are a requirement for all course providers. Glad you stuck with it and safe boating!

Hi Cindy - thanks for the feedback. Since there are a finite number of test questions and the test is open book and unsupervised - Transport Canada and NASBLA regulate that the answers not be shown. This is one of the check and balances put into place to maintain the integrity of online testing. As boaters too, we understand the feedback and are working with regulators to try and improve the process within the confines of online testing. Thanks for sticking with it and safe boating!

“I found the process of going through the modules on line before writing the exam, time consuming and a little tedious. I had already read the book and will keep it on board for reference purposes. Granted, I only got 92% on the exam but would have found it helpful to know what questions I got wrong so that I could review that section. I had problems using my code from the pre purchased exam and had to have a representative from Boat Smart email me a new password to get into the programme. There was also an error in printing off my licence and also had to call to have the temp. licence emailed to me. That being said, both representatives were very help full and corrected the problems within minutes.”

Thanks for taking time to leave feedback Ana. We understand the test can take a while for some students, but the time requirements and quizzes are required by Transport Canada and NASBLA to ensure students of all reading levels are able to fully understand all content. The timed requirements are the same across all course providers, and we find many students prefer the convenience of completing the course from the comfort of home, rather than in a classroom setting.
