Dont buy the book. The course just reads it to you word for word and tou cant skip anything. Takes way to long. Smart serve was a shorter course.

Nothing about doing this course made me happy. It was painful. We had the book and had studied that but had to go through each module on this site before we could take the test. While understand Why that was the case, it made it very time consuming and frankly painful. The video is not synced with the timing, it would freeze up periodically and we found it a complete time sucker.

Very long wait time on lessons almost every time I would have to wait over a minute on each page. I also hit the back button several times and had to wait again on the previous page.

Questions didn't reflect the modules and the different use of words was hard to fallow.

It didn't say you couldn't do it together. Didn't see the per-paid Code.

I was very disappointed with the French Version of your site. There was no videos or narration on the french version. You did not mention this during signup. Paying someone to narrate the french text is not something expensive or complicated.

Hi Jeremy - thanks for taking the time to provide feedback! We understand the test can take awhile for some students, but the time requirements and content is required by Transport Canada or NASBLA to ensure all students are able to fully understand all content. The requirements are the same across all course providers, and we find many students prefer the convenience of completing the course from the comfort of home, rather than in a classroom setting. Thanks for sticking with it, and safe boating!

I bought the book and online card for the online test. I found out after reading the joon the card was also the online book. I spent 8 hours on the online book because the quizzes don't tell you what you got wrong so you can't learn from your mistakes. Once I finished the online book I did the online exam and I wasn't happy. In the exam there are things that weren't taught in either book that were expected to be known. Had they been either taught or not used on the exam I would've scored much better.

I was mislead by sales folks at a recent show. I was told that if I purchased the pre-paid access card I could take the test on line. I was also pushed in to buying the guide. I studied the guide and then found out I had to sit through 3 hours of my life studying the same materials as found in the guide to take the on line test. Absolute bull.

Hi Robert, Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review. Looks like there may have been some miscommunication with our team at the boat show. Sorry the Transport Canada guidelines weren't clearly presented when you purchased, but glad to have you aboard as a certified Smart boater!

Not a very friendly way for those who have limited internet access...wish we knew about all the videos reference before hand. 😕

The book & course are fairly easy. BUT the exam questions are twisted, confusing & not user friendly & don't always reflect the contents of the book. EXAMPLE: One shouldn't have to search 4 different sections of the book to find the answers on Fire Extinguishers.

There were several problems with both the course materials and the test. - not enough time dedicated to bouys and navigation -meanwhile fire extinguisherswhere covered in three places Not enough time dedicated to rules of the road and descriptions were vague. "As the give way vessel you can pass the stand to vessel to either side but preferably to starboard". Whose starboard? Theirs or mine? - safety items should have been grouped together instead of spread out over multiple sections -info about flares was inconsistent in the instructional material If I didn't have prior experience I would not have passed.

The material moved at a glacial pace and was mostly repetitive and trivial. The final exam had questions about material that wasn't even covered in the course. Obviously written by a separate agency.

I have been boating all my life and still learned things from the course...however, because my computer is slow...it took me almost 8 hrs to complete the course...and this is not as advertised...in fact at no time was it clearly stated that the online course was mandatory. I had spent 3 evenings studying the book preparing to take the test. I then spent 2 more evenings doing the course and test. I don't own a boat. I did this to take my elderly parents out in their boat.
