In-store, I find Calumet helpful and comprehensively stocked, with an extensive selection of competitively priced own brand products. They don't have as many stores as in the past. Online, their product descriptions are often vague and the pricing is not to competitive They have a very tight review policy on their website so there are almost no client reviews. I've had problems with two of their products, which failed, and the reviews were not published. I think this is a silly policy. Overall, I would recommend them, but for key studio components that have to take heavy loads, go into a store and check them out first.

I like to use Calumet as you are a professional suppler. From an educational point where management's decision is normally lead by price alone; generally they go for the cheapest option which is not necessarily the best. Coming from a professional background I do not mind spending slightly more for the products when you have good customer support and back up. Knowing there is a structure in place to deliver products or services within a couple of hours if necessary is reassuring and the fact that orders can be made over the phone with out time wasting paperwork.

I bought an Epson printer and spare sets of inks at one of Calumet's open days. The printer arrived very quickly with no problems. I knew when I ordered them that the spare ink set was out of stock, so I was happy to wait. But in the end I had to chase Calumet. The first person I spoke to did not get back to me as promised, so I had to chase again and it got sorted. There seemed to be some internal paperwork problem which the company needs to address.

I must say the Calumet experience has improved no end in the last 5 years. As a professional, my experience of Calumet was always, "we haven't got it in stock", "its at our branch in Bognor" , "we can have it sent down",or "thanks for your order, unfortunately we've run out....". To complete disinterest....this angered me considering that most pros spend A LOT on equipment, and purchases have to work on a daily basis, not just look good around your neck ! I recently purchased a Nikon D800, and my purchase, straight through from my initial phone call, to pick up was handled with great efficiency and professionalism.

Equipment purchase from Calumet Euston has been fine this year with the only niggle being the wait for attention in the shop when busy.

Been a customer since early 1980's in Manchester, then Edinburgh and now Bristol. - still good service but just get used to one member of staff and they go, so not a lot of consistency (except good ol' Andy Johnson). Still very helpful and knowledgable at the Bristol branch. Just do something about that bloody awful door chime! Dr.Andrew Stevens Andy Stevens Photography. Bristol

Always pleasure to shop at Calumet... I just hoped that Calumet could by pass sometime Nikon or Canon offers so to help more photographer buying camera and other equipment. That's like interest free period also for buying a Nikon camera too, Hope there could be a forum one day , a technical forum where Calumet pro customers could directly be linked or heard by Nikon or Canon head quarters whom could listen and make improvements on cameras according to pro needs and where possible...

The camera and the service was excellent. Unfortunately Calumet reduced the price by £50 the day after I purchased it, so I was not pleased at that!

The day I went was my Ist. time there and not very long was my Ist. time to hear about columet, and all because I am new to photography, which I disvcover and I love passion. That particular day columet was offering the free cleaning of lenses and cameras which every body took advange off, so it was absolute caose, but well organized. I likked the cup cakes, I had quite a few of those but I could not find any coffee, althought i saw quite a few cups about all looking the same, so it gave the impresion that Calumet had as well taken the time to organize coffee as well, well done Calumet. On that day, the poor sales men were so bussy that they really did not have time to advise properly, all they were interested was in getting the order and go, althought they were very polite but the pessure on them was there to put you to the till. On this kind of event what advise can I give?. Perhaps calumet could bring in more staff and offer and make the coffee a little more visible to the customers. and if calumet needs more staff, they can employ me, as I am at this moment in time looking for a job, but calumet will have to train me. Hope to hearing from you soon, and i will love to visit the shop soon as i looking for a new camera. Olga

Good service for online sales however I font it very frustrating that the hire section does not fully supply the items that the shop supplies as sales . Also get frustrated at the time it takes to get served when buying from Drummond street , it's a much faster service online . Do notice that the prices are not competitive on shop sales forcing people to buy bigger items from other suppliers . Hope this helps .

Very good support but a bit expensive. It seems like no (price) competition between the major UK photographic stores. It seems like they made a cartel... :(
