“Wonderful, George in the Manchester branch could not have been more helpful while I tried out the Canon Macro lenses. I only ever shop at Calumet Manchester now.”

“The initial issue I had with my Manfrotto LED bank of lights was quite good after some frustrating calls, Calumet made good their position by sending a motorbike and collecting exchanging the lights. The repeat issue has been somewhat protracted to sort, to avoid issues I paid to parcel and send the lights back as I could see a situation arising where Calumet would call to collect and we would be out. This second return has been somewhat protracted, I do have mails on file apologizing and fortunately I have not needed the lights so the pressure has been off, that said, tomorrow, 17th June I do have an outside evening shoot and would like the lights at hand but as I write, I still don't have them.... Disappointing... Can you find out where they and advise please. Clive Martin, 07714134985”

“Having done some research online for an upgrade to my old DSLR, I was confused by the many options in a modern camera. Calumet to the rescue ! After a short visit, I received loads of advice, without any pressure to purchase, and the opportunity to get hands on with the items I was considering was a great bonus. Very knowledgeable and patient staff, with a great attitude towards customer service. Now that I have my new camera, I can't wait to pop back for advice on what to add next.”

“I was not impressed with the service at your Euston store recently. I was sold the wrong model of softbox despite discussing the model I wanted with the assistant. This meant I had to track half way across London due to your fault to exchange it for the correct model. Not easy as I have a serious spine injury making travel difficult and painful. On top of this, I sent and re-sent my complaint in an email to your 'customer service' main contact address, asking for a reply, and several weeks later I have still not had a reply. Hence my score of poor, which I would not expect from a company that advertises itself on 'expert' 'professional' standards.”

“I bought the canon 100mm macro lens by making a phone call and paying in full and was waiting for the delivery. When I phoned the day before the delivery, been told that I will not be getting it next day due to some delay and been told to call next day. When phoned next day, i.e. the day that I should have had my lens, been told that the price they quoted on the internet was wrong and my options are either to pay more i.e about 150quid or get a refund. I know that I have the right to fight as I have received a valid bill over e-mail, a sale is a sale. But accepted the refund as i am disgusted by the way they do their business and you know what, I could not take the lens to my planned university course which i spent £20k. I will never buy anything from them or will not recommend to anyone.”

“The two guys I dealt with were very nice, particularly the one when I made the first purchase. I also dealt with a customer service rep online. The website is still crappy and searches are still difficult though- even for your own staff members. I wanted a cord for a pocket wizard to a flash and that was not going to happen.”

“My first time as a Calumet customers. Sent a lens for repair and after two days you sent back to me instead Nikon repair center. After this first issue, as the repair takes too long, I needed to buy a lens (nikon 50mm 1.4G) to use as backup of the lens I sent in repair: you did not want to sell it to me because was my first purchase and you wanted some proof (bills etc). After spending the afternoon at the phone speaking with different people, finally you sold me the lens. Honestly, I don't think I will buy anything from you also if I like your stores and your prices. I am a professional photographer and the first thing i need is reliability.”

“My experience with Calumet (W1) branch, was very good. When I came into the shop and asked for a particular new Canon prime lens, the man behind the counter knew what it was. He also asked if required a filter which was nice. Overall, left a happy bunny with the new purchase and will comeback to Wardour Street outlet.”

“I recently ordered the Canon 70-200mm II USM under a interest free 2yr deal. The whole process was very easy and staff were so helpful I felt at total ease ordering such a pricey item. The lens arrived quickly, well packaged and is excellent. All round brilliant experience thank you Calumet”

“The website and ordering process were very good, but the delivery was not. First I was emailed asking for proof of photo ID and a utility bill. Surely we don't need this in the days of secure websites. I disputed it in an email and was told it wasn't required; that it was the dispatching company making a mistake. Then when the package arrived to my work address, instead of the name 'Samuel Smith' on it, it had 'Salutation M Smith'. This meant that the recptionist had no idea who it was for. Luckily I was expecting it that day and happened to see a box which looked the correct size and realised it was mine. Not brilliant if Im honest.”
