My husband found a beautiful 2009 Chevy 2500 HD , 4door, 110,786 miles power everything, box cover, 4x4, Auto, Diesel pickup truck at auction and wanted to bid. The truck was awesome and even had new tires! We started it and it purred but auction rules would not let us test drive. We bought the unlimited car fax and ran the VIN number to find the truck had 5 owners, a total insurance loss from a wreck in another state (a state that did not issue salvage titles). Someone else bought the truck and a big headache for 22,350. Thank you Car Fax for saving us from a disastrous mistake. Debbie Jones

I bought a 2005 Chrysler Town and country touring van. I registered as the new owner and within days I received a post card telling me about the recall. Subsequently I received a letter regarding a different recall. for both things I took the van in for service on two different ocasions and both times the problems were fixed to my full satisfaction free of charge the head lightssand on the same day. one was for a light sensor wherethe headlights would go off one at atime and not turn on again. Fixed!. the other one was or the ac line, Fixed!. the only downfall was they did not refill with gas, but that was it. overall, very satisfied. Happy with my van!

Carfax helped us NOT buy a lemon. We had made plans to drive 3 hours to get my dream car and at the last minute I coughed up the money for a Carfax. What I found was that the car had been in several accidents, had more owners than we were told, and actually had 80,000 miles more than the owner claimed and odometer showed. Obviously, something wasn?t quite right, so we dodged a bullet, thanks to Carfax.

My father passed away a few months ago, and all my mother had to buy a used automobile was a small amount of insurance money and the cash she got for his old truck. Total, about $10,000. She had never purchased a car before. Dad was the car guy in the family. So when she asked me to help find and determine a good buy, I knew I?d be looking at a lot of cars, so I immediately purchased the unlimited CARFAX package. I wouldn?t even consider a dealer?s vehicle, if they didn?t provide a CARFAX for free. By my experience, most of them use CARFAX or other similar services, so if they don?t offer it willingly, I walk away. We found an amazing deal on a late model Camry with low miles from a private owner ? almost too good to be true. But I checked CARFAX and found a long, up-to-date history of excellent maintenance on the vehicle and Mom couldn?t be happier. She?s never had such a nice ride and I am secure in knowing that my Mother is safe and comfortable in a reliable vehicle.

People want to see proof that the car they?re buying was cared for properly. In fact, after we gave one customer a Carfax Report that showed the vehicle was well-maintained with regular oil changes, it literally sealed the deal for him. That well-maintained badge gives people more confidence that they?re making the right buying decision. Al Fast UCM

Great information I was able to receive from CARFAX. One instance thinking the vehicle had only 150k miles when CARFAX was able to show two years prior the vehicle had a smog check with 199k miles. Another experience thinking I found a 1997 diesel vehicle which would be smog exempt, when it was a 1999 model year vehicle a non-exempt year.

I was looking for a used Miata. I had one a few years ago and had to sell it. I thought I would buy the Car Fax application for use in my search. I had an owner in Binghamton, NY, who was selling a 1999. The car looked like it was in great shape. There were minor scratches, the top was in great shape, and it was priced to sell. Before I took the 85 mile trip, I ran the vin number, and low and behold, the car had been totaled in November 2012 from a front end collision. I addressed the facts with the current owner, and of course, He knew nothing about it. He said that there was nothing on the title about it being totaled. Being a woman, I know he tied his best to give me a song and a dance of him not knowing anything about it. I told him you must think I stupid. The paint job has be to so new that you could still smell it. I told him that practice is called title washing, and as soon as I register the car in the state of PA, it will be labled as a R title. NO THANK YOU. Thank You Car Fax. You saved me a big headache, i'VE ATTACHED THE CAR FAX HISTORY REPORT FOR MY PROOF

I haven?t bought a pre-owned car in years without first checking out the Carfax and several years ago it saved my wife and I from a really bad deal. We found a used Honda CR-V at a dealership that was priced right for our budget so we went out to drive it. It drove ok and we were in the process of talking ?numbers? with the dealership when we asked to see Carfax. And in reviewing it we discovered the car had FRAME DAMAGE that we had no knowledge of. In fact, the dealer tried to play stupid and say they did not know about the damage either but I don?t believe them for a minute. Thanks to Carfax? excellent service we were saved buying a wrecked car.

I was looking at a 1999 GMC truck that had only 68,718 miles on it's odometer. That was really low mileage for a vehicle of that age. So I was concerned if it was true! The owner said, the person who he bought it from really wanted a bigger truck so he bought vehicle. So, I check around with people in the car business trying to get a idea of how to check it out. They all said it looked OK. But, something still bothered me. To many years and to few miles. So I decided to invest in Car Fax. A relative small amount of money for my peace of mind and this is what I found out with the Car Fax. The vehicle was bought(10/1998) new near my home town by a female who keep it for a little over 5 years(12,000 miles) and sold it to owner #2 who lived in the next county and he drove the vehicle for 8 years(56,000 miles). Selling it to owner #3 only keep the truck 1 month and sold it to owner #4 the person that I was dealing with. I was glad to find out that the vehicle stayed in my region of the country. All this information I receive from my Car fax. After a certain number of years the mileage is not required information on the vehicle title.

I used Carfax and saved $1400 off the window price of $12,900 for a used 2007 Honda Accord. I found a Honda Accord listed in the paper for $12,900 along with a VIN# so I used the VIN# to look up the car in Carfax and found out that the car had been previously damaged. The Carfax recommended the car be sold for a $1,000 less and I just mentioned using Carfax to the dealer and he knocked off $1,400. The little amount that I spent for 5 Carfaxes was well worth it! Thanks Carfax!

I have had plenty of experience grading and then negotiating for vehicles to purchase. Since CARFAX has been around I have used them on a regular basis. My experience with CARFAX has always ended with checking for unseen problems which has been a real relief for me because you can get caught up in deal making and forget doing the proper research. This is the reason I will always use CARFAX in the future to identify problems I would have never been able to see when negotiating. I give CARFAX a five star score rating and thank them for their help to avoid making a bad car deal and ending up having to fix a flawed vehicle which I would have lost money on.

I was looking for a used car for two reasons, my family now has four drivers,( the kids grow up so fast), and my minivan is pushing the 200,000 mile mark and I am not sure how much longer it will last. I decided to purchase the car from an auto auction, and in the process teach my kids a life lesson. Prior to attending the auction I purchased a five report package from CarFax and we studied the auction list carefully for models and years we might be interested in. My two teenagers got the book values for those cars and we got to the auction early to inspect the cars. After weeding out the list we were down to four vehicles that we would bid on. That's when we completed the most important part of our homework. We got the CarFax for those vehicles. While all of the vehicles had fairly good reports one stood out and had a +$1400 rating over the book value of the car. We decided to concentrate on that car first and were astonished that we were able to get that car with a bid of $1800 less than the book value, knowing full well that the vehicle only had one previous owner and a +$1400 rating from CarFax. We walked out of there with a new car for our family and the children learned how to inspect used cars,(we inspected over 30 cars that day), find a good price for each vehicle and get the background needed to make a smart purchase of a used car by getting the CarFax.

After my car got totaled at work I was looking for something to zip around town in. I found several cars but was leary because I?m a girl and I know nothing about cars. Thank Goodness for Car Fax. Many of the cars I thought were a great deal turned out to be salvaged. When I finally found my new to me, preowned car I ran it through Car Fax and it showed me the owner, no accidents, all maintenance records, the millage and the high & low value of this car. Awsome! I then took it to my mechanic who gave it a clean bill of health & said I bought a Fabulous car! THANK YOU CAR FAX!

My husband and I were looking to buy a clean small used car with low miles, but just couldn't be sure about the history the ones we shortlisted. So we bought an unlimited CARFAX package and ran as many cars as we wanted through the process. All we needed for a report was the license plate number, and there were 5 VIN-report options too; so it was breezy. Before getting CARFAX, we had almost made up our mind on a neat-looking Toyota Camry which turned out to be reported as a total-loss, a fact that the owner conveniently kept back from us! Needless to say, we went on to check other cars after that. We finally chose one of two almost identical Honda Accords that we test drove, the CARFAX becoming the ultimate deciding factor again. The one we ended up buying showed regular servicing with all scheduled maintenance performed timely and no major repairs, while the other had practically no information. So thanks to CARFAX, we are now the proud owners of a 'good, clean' car.

My Step Son Alex who is 18 had enough $$$ for a used car. Alex is one to get burned. Once he bought a hoop dee from some guy on Craig's List. Never checked it out, His money, he insisted on buying it without anyone looking at for him. You guessed it, Tranny was about shot. Motor ready to blow. A total waste of his money. He was again on Craig's List looking. Would not listen to reason, again. Then there was a nice Christian Lady selling a Mercury Cougar near-by where we live. He kept stopping by and looking at it. He even asked my to look at it with him. After hearing that, Amazing request from him, I looked at it with him. I met the lady and told her how Alex was burned and lied to in the past. I wanted her to please expose any and everything that she my know about the car that was ready to go haywire. She was so honest, showed me all of the service records, and just said to me, "remember it is a used car." I agreed with her and told her every time I ever bought a used car, I had a Car Fax Report. So I went home and purchased the unlimited package and ran the vehicle. It came back perfect. No history of salvage. All good info. I gave Alex the green light and now the car is his thanks to Car Fax. Car Fax saved the day!!! I will continue to use Car Fax for all of my used car investigations.
