Carfax reports helped to identify many aspects that dealers wouldn't tell and prevented me from buying cars which had problems, improper maintenance or heavy usage. Carfax email notification has made me aware of the new cars on sale even before dealers had them listed on the web. Finally I've got my 2008 Mazda 5 based on one of these notifications. Minus one star for hiding the truth abouth unlimited reports (its by plate only, you still get only 5 VIN reports).

Appreciate the existence of carfax. Without it, I would not have realize a car I thought was a great deal had a odometer rollover of more than 100k in mileage. Without it , I also would not have bought my current car with a peace of mind. Thanks!

I used car fax to sell a used Toyota that was purchased new. I ran the add and described the vehicle's condition and mileage. The calls came quickly the car had low miles and was garaged. Every caller asked if there were any issues with the vehicle. I answered no, none at all and I have a car fax on hand. The first person came and bought the car while another couple waited ready to buy if the first person decided not to buy. PS. Both parties asked to see the car fax.

I was looking to buy a topkick, deal sounded really too good to be true, I ran the carfax and found it had more miles than was listed. however it wasn't off by much was still interested in buying until they wanted me to wire money to London, which I would have done if I was sitting in the vehicle with my laptop, however they would not let me come to Florida and see the vehicle in person.

It's good idea to check your car history before you paid

we were looking for a land rover discovery. not many on the market. looking at carfax, we saw that many had accidents soon after being bought but not after the 1 year mark. we finally found one that looked as good as it was priced. we checked carfax to verify it's history and are now proud owners of a used discovery. too bad the carfax doesn't have a line on what the dealers are like that are selling them!! that would have saved a lot of time and grief. also, we have used carfax to look at our own cars histories before we sell them, one we bought before carfax was available. We knew what the prospective buyers would be considering and it helped diagnose problems also. Thanks, carfax!!

The best thing that ever happend to me when I'm shoping for a car. It saved me time and all the hidden scams. I was sure tha the car u bough was clean before I paid for it and it did prevent me also from buying a car that I fall in love with but it had a bad record history .....

I have used Carfax before to buy a used car. This time, however, I paid for unlimited searches only to find out after I paid that I was actually limited to only four VIN searches, but unlimited license plate number searches which were worthless. I will not be using Carfax again.

Having a CARFAX subscription definitely saved me from buying a bad car with a bad history. During my search, there were more than one incidents, where the seller would either feign ignorance about the history of the car, or refuse to share the details. I usually backed off whenever I did not get info on the car's history, but there were a few occasions where I really liked the car so much that I did not want to let it go just because the seller had no info on it's history. On those occasions, I went to CARFAX for more details, and I am glad that I did. I came across reports that had accidents involving the front end of the car, or an odometer inconsistency, or a bad title, that would make me put my foot on the break pedal in that deal. I would recommend that if someone is serious about buying a used car, then CARFAX is a must, as it serves as a preliminary check on the history of the car and could save thousands in the long run. One can also negotiate the deal based on the history of the car. There is just one drawback that I wish could be overcome in the future. I wish that the CARFAX report shows more details on the accidents that could help the subscriber determine the extent of the damage caused by an accident. But even without that, it serves as a great pointer on the value of the car.

Carfax really helped me make a decision. I browsed through the history of all the options I had and made sure I was informed of complete history of the cars. The report was also offered much ground for bargaining.

Found what appeared to be a great deal on a 2002 Silverado. Owner said only 160,000 miles. Test drove it did not seem to drive like a 160,000 mile truck. Subscribed to and ran the CARFAX, it revealed the last reported mileage was 255,000. Confronted the owner with the descrepency, and that I was not interested in the vehicle. He change the ad to unknown mileage!

Thank you Carfax for showing me the details and history of Honda Pilot 2004. The checklist and value range helped in the verification and negotiation of the car price respectively.

I was interested in buying a car that appeared to be in good shape but after running the CarFax I found out it had more troubles than could be seen at a 'meet and greet' session. I am very happy I ran the CarFax report, it has saved me some headaches. Thanks!

My wife and I were looking at a 2004 Cadillac CTS we saw on Craigslist. I called the gentleman to inquire about the vehicle and he told me he and his wife had purchased it new in 2004. He told me it had only been involved in one minor fender bender. We made arraignments to test drive the car. My wife and I test drove the car on a major highway. When my wife started to slow down for a traffic light the front end started shaking. I told my wife we needed to walk away. When we brought the car back and advised the owner of the shaking he got defensive. Later that night my wife wanted to have our mechanic look at the car because she really liked how it looked. I agreed with the mechanic but also I be allowed to run a CARFAX on it. The owner wanted $8,500.00 for the car, When the report came back it showed that the gentleman was actually the 4th owner and had purchased the car in June of last year and put the car in a ditch that December. The insurance company had totaled it. Thank you CARFAX for saving me from a disastrous purchase
