Unless your happy to chase your order and spend time and money in order to receive lies and poor excuses I wouldn't recommend shopping at Debenhams. Even gestures of goodwill are below adequate and satisfaction

I was in East Kilbride store to buy a lamp. The one I wanted was sold out apart from one on display. The assistant Linda quickly offered to check the stock room without any hesitation where there was one available and got it for me fresh in a box! Excellent customer care on a busy sale day!

I had no idea when I purchased the 60" plasma TV from Debenhams Plus until it was deemed uneconomical to repair 6 months latter by LG the manufacturer, I had in fact purchased from there "sister" company buyitdirect as all the documentation I had was from Debenhams Plus. Its now 2 months from issuing the manufacturers authorization for a refund and after many PREMIUM RATE calls still awaiting the refund.... Absolutely appalling returns department service. DO NOT USE DEBENHAMS PLUS DEBENHAMS DO NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE SERVICE THEY OFFER!!

My partner ordered a long sleeve shirt online, when it arrive it was short sleeve, he ordered it again and the same thing happened, got in contact with the store and they dispatched a long sleeve shirt out to him and told him to free return the first two shirts and he got a refund for one of them. When the dispatched one arrived it was also short sleeve. He got in contact with them again and they refused to refund the shirt and advised him to order again. He refused and asked for it to be sorted, they supposedly escalated his issue and said they would call him back the next day. This didn't happen and my partner called them, and this happened many times and it has been a month since the original problem and it has not been resolved. He still has not received a refund for one shirt and has since spent £50 on calling them as they refused to call him back when they said they would and wouldn't give them the number that wouldn't cost him! Awful customer service, definitely not worth spending your money with them.

Recently bought furniture from the Oxford Bedroom range from Debenhams online. The bedroom storage chest was faulty and needed to be replaced or repaired. I have been passed from Head Office to Customer Services to the Furniture Team to the Quality Assurance Team. None of the departments respond in a timely manner, and only respond after I have complained about their non response. I have now written to the CEO of Debenhams and finally I have a company coming out to inspect the furniture and attempt a repair. I will never buy furniture from Debenhams again. Their customer service is the worst I have experienced.

i brought some joggers from Debenhams which were described as 100% cotton. when i got they they were shoddy quality and 57% polyester. when i contacted customer service, they really seemed as if they could care less, and did not seem to appreciate that they had breached advertising standards and just told me if i don't like it return it, without any apology for misleading advertising or the hassle it caused me, to have to go through the return process for a mistake i did not make. when i left a review on their website saying that the item was not as described and saying how unimpressed i was with their customer service, they simply deleted my review. this is how unscrupulous Debenhams are!!!! i would advice caution to anyone wanting to buy any product or item from Debenhams. thank you

What a sham of a service. I have never had such a bad response/service in the 30 years of ordering home appliances. I ordered an Indesit dryer which was out of the box a day then made noises and smelt of burning. No time to register guarantee. Was told an engineer would have to visit from Hotpoint to clarify this. Appointment made cancelled by Hotpoint unable to do following week as working. Could not get through to either to rearrange appointment as either Debenhams+ or Hotpoint had call options gallore or engaged tone or calls dropped. Emailed both (December 2016) this all started and still to date no replies and it is now February and I have a broken dryer sitting there with no customer service whatsoever!! I am appalled at the service by both and will NEVER order on line to these companies again. Do yourselves a favour avoid them like the Plague!!!

Terrible service! An utter shambles! No proper concern for customers and no quick resolution. I asked Debenhamplus to provide me a receipt with the IMEI number on it for my Sony mobile phone and they told me they do not keep those numbers on their systems. For those who do not know an IMEI number is a phone's specific serial number. How can I have a warranty when my receipt does not provide my my phone's identity number! I bought my phone on the 16th of January and after going back and forth with Debenhamplus and Sony (Manufacturer) for 2 weeks they said they could type up a receipt but they need me to provide the information as they did not store it. After providing the information they required as well as the IMEI number, they provided me with the same old invoice without the IMEI number on it. What was the point! That's was what I required. Every second day I phoned them regarding this issue as I did not get an confirmation of things being moved forward. Sometimes I would be on the phone for an hour and they would tell me they had no record of the issue in the first place!! I received my full detailed receipt on the 1st of February by a staff member called Atif Iqbal (returns/complaints manager) I told him I wanted to complain and wanted compensation for all the stress and inconvenience I received but also for the charges on my phone bill due to calling a 0800 number. He advised me to double check the receipt and make sure I was happy with it. Of course I would be I had explain to them what exactly was needed on the receipt. I have emailed Atif Iqbal to complain and compensation as he said he would deal with it but I have had no reply for the last 7 days. Debenhamplus staff are terrible and not properly trained to deal with after sale enquiries as well as customers. I HIGHLY REGRET BUYING FROM DEBENHAMPLUS AND WARN OTHERS NOT TO BUY ANY PHONES, TVs OR LAPTOPS FROM DEBENHAMPLUS AS YOU WILL BE CHEATED AS A CUSTOMER!! This review is only for Debenhamplus and not for Debenham stores as they are very kind and easy to deal with. TO ALL THE CUSTOMERS OUT THERE LOOKING TO BUY FROM DEBENHAMPLUS PLEASE DONT!! YOU ARE THROWING MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN!!

My husband was bought a £50 jumper as a Xmas present from a relative. This relative lives in Malaysia and was visiting for the Xmas period returning home shortly afterwards. The jumper was too small and was returned to the store. Although we did not have the receipt (it was a gift, who gives receipts?) we did expect to be able to change the jumper for a bigger size but was informed, as we did not have proof of purchase, they could only offer an exchange to the value of £16. Where in Debenhams would you get a jumper for £16? Plus why would a garment purchased from Debenhams lose its value in such a short time? I contacted the complaints department to be told that as I did not have proof of purchase the desicion by that store, Debenhams in Meadowhall stands. Compare their policies to any other store in town who are prepared to allow an exchange to the value of goods bought. Please be aware of this situation. I for one will not be patronising this store again

Just don't bother! Following two failed delivery dates, glass hob arrived smashed. Rang Debenhams Plus only to be advised that there would be a delay of another week until they could deliver due to 'stock delays'. Requested an immediate refund. Ordered same model from John Lewis next day delivery at additional cost to ourselves but well worth it to avoid any further delays plus JLs offer 2 years warranty.

Used twice. 1ST order only half of order was despatched as other item supposedly out of stock. A real pain to get refund. 2nd order was some Chanel perfume for my wife for Christmas (not cheap). When opened it was clearly off so very old stock I would think. Refused to exchange as bottle opened! Will now not be using Debenhams online again and won't step inside their store. Suggest John Lewis is a better bet.

I went to the shop in Henry Street - Dublin, to buy perfume kit that was on sale on the website. When I got there I found a similar perfume kit on the entrance of the shop, but not the one I was looking for. I went to one assistant and asked her if she had the perfume kit I wanted, she showed me only the single perfume ( not the kit) and said that everything they had was out in the shop and she was sure that wasn't any last, even when i asked her please to double check, she said whatever was left in the front of the shop was all they had. ( As it was my job to check in front of the shop). Not a good attitude. I felt disappointed and decide to get the perfume only and not the kit . When I went to the till the assistant (Bernie) that was there just said that they have the kit for that perfume, and she would double check for me and ask another assistant to help and double check with her. Bernie was very helpful and polite, and because of her excellent attitude she found the kit that I was looking for. I left there very happy and delight for Bernie's attitude.

I ordered six pairs of earrings as gifts for my bridesmaids. Every single pair arrived damaged as they had been sent in a plastic envelope with no packaging to protect it. I called their customer service helpline and was informed replacements would be sent out. Over a week later and I have not received anything. Called their helpline again, only to be told the replacement order had not been processed and it needed to be 'looked into' and they would call me back. I'm not wasting my time and money with them again after this is (eventually) resolved.

Ordered a cooker to be delivered to work - paid £10 to have this delivered next day (Thursday) as i needed to have it fit at the weekend. They drove past an old building of ours and assumed this was our address - despite this not being the delivery address we specified on the ordered. Took a pic of the old building and said they could not deliver as the address is abandoned. I called them and explained that this was not the address we had asked them to deliver to. They said they now would have to wait for them to deliver the item back to the depot before arranging delivery. Therefore I would not receive my order on the consecutive day - i would have to wait another 48 hours even if it was their mistake. This means that my next day delivery would now be delivered on Monday - 5 days after I ordered it. Better to cancel the whole order and order with someone else who will actually deliver the item to the correct address.

I placed an order with Debenhams Plus on 1/1/16 and requested a delivery on 13/1/16, I paid with PayPal and the money was transferred immediately on 1/1/16. I received a confirmation email acknowledging payment and confirming delivery would be 13/1/16. Expecting them to keep their promise I took a day off work to receive the item, around midday I received an email saying that delivery would be on 14/1/16. Attempting to contact them was like trying to break into Fort Knox but when I did finally get through the service was unhelpful to say the least. The woman dealing with me at first stated that no delivery date was quoted on my order. I refuted this as I had in front of me copies of my original order and their confirmation both of which stated 13/1/16 as the delivery date. She then said there must have been a problem with the payment. I said I had used PayPal and the money was transferred to them on 1/1/16. She couldn't think of any more excuses and I sensed a telephonic shrug of the shoulders and the words 'tough' forming on her lips. She said it was out of Debenhams hands and if I wanted to pursue it any further I should contact the delivery company. Yes Debenham Plus are good price wise' but if you do order from them expect hassle, and don't expect your goods to arrive on time.
