“They are training the staff to drop calls where they may lose money. They gave a fake meter reading to my old supplier and refuse to rectify it, cost me over £10,000, for 23 days electric.
I've spent nearly 6 hours today trying to speak to them.”
“I have been left five days without gas .I had a smart meter put in and didn't like it I've now had the old meter put in but hasn't gone over to ols meter so can't top up .they asked me to go down to a shop half hour away from me to get card witch would have 50 pounds on it and I'm disabled witch I can't walk far and when I fot home no money on card . Called them bck said they was sending me a card out in post with 50 pounds on it still waiting that was Friday it is now Monday I have a newborn child aswell no customer care I've spoken to over 200 different agents no managers are getting thank leanne cox 29 ling rd e164ap”
“EDF are atrocious Company who supply only the minimal amount of Customer service ... on a good day!! As a single male with limited energy needs, they have been plucking figures out of thin air for months and since December 2023 have deducted over£1400 from my bank account over and above the energy price cap. They ignore e-mails and in the past said they had no record of me as a Customer at all! They certainly have a record of all of my personal bank details to extort excessive payments from myself every month.

“I've had a smart meter for five months. It hasn't worked. There have been two visits by the installation team. one to replace the first meter. Then they knocked out my storage heaters. They keep promising to get it sorted but never do. My bills are enormous because they're all estimates - and wild estimates for someone like me living in a one-bedroom flat. “I’m 56 I inherited EDF energy at my new flat for 6 months they only billed me me for gas(2020) it was always paid or little to pay they quickly during pandemic put me on pay as you go for no reason . During a local blackout I discovered they supplied my electricity aswell same year but they didn’t know it ,I’ve not used there gas since August 2022 but cus I’m on the books of these thieves I have to pay a standing charge £520 my last electric bill £1600 cus there incompetence wouldn’t let me pay the bill on auto EDF for 4 months keep away from these French cowboys . I’ve never written a review in my life before but the endless pestering and threats from this company and there thugs (past due) I’m just glad I can afford it and will be leaving these bandits asap”
“I've always paid my bill on time without issues. They told me they were struggling to connect to my smart meter and have had issues non stop since. I have continued to pay my usual amount as I was ensured my bill would be revised and amended so thought better to pay what I usually do than not. They've since removed all my bills from the last 4 months on my account and given me a new one stating I've used over £700 in just electric for this period. Stating this is the accurate usage charges. I still have emails stating my previous bills were ready followed by emails that they were paid. The customer service agents have been rude and extremely unhelpful, I told them I would approach the ombudsman and they had no care what so ever. They even told me maybe I should seek professional help if I am that stressed about the bill. They are an awful company and you should completely avoid them at all costs. Prices are going down and they're trying to rob us blind to keep their profits up.”
“Absolute liars who have kept my £197 owed to me since February 2024. Customer services lie, managers don’t return calls, if anyone owed them would they be waiting nearly 2 months I don’t think so. Was promised cheque by 2 April got nothing. Called them allegedly they sent to my old address. Got mail from old address nothing. Called again. Today to be told no cheque has ever been raised. What is going on? Send my money now!!!”
“They're bullies, they are paid by the government to push me into having a smart meter but it'll cost money me to remove a large double floor to ceiling cupboard and get it put back to original condition if I have one. I don't want a smart meter so they want to up my tariff even though I pay them each month on time but have stopped my direct debit as when I was in £500+ credit they didn't want to give me my money back. Now they've decided to issue me with a new bill apart from the April one I have only just had but they have added £149.84 to my bill for reasons best known to themselves. The reading is the same as the previous bill. I read my meter daily and have spreadsheets going back years as I do not trust these electrical suppliers. EDF are incompetent bullies but no different to any of the other suppliers I have used. I wish there was a decent company among them.”
“Hands down the worst company I've ever had to deal with. What should have been a routine "smart" meter installation has turned into a month long headache. The paypoint machines seem to close at Four. Their top up phone-line offices close at SIX and the EDF app and website won't let me top up. Despite topping up my electric at five, it's now been two hours and the money has yet to leave my bank account. I am left without electric or gas. And they tried to stiff me for a gas bill that was ELEVEN TIMES what it should have been.
And most of not all of their customer services have been outsourced to other countries who have no idea what they're doing.
If I could rate this company lower I would.”

“AVOID AT ALL COSTS terrible customer service, they changed my gas to smart meter, but the engineer said he didn't have the time to do my electric, left no information about paying and that they will rebook for electric, that was 6 months ago, I've now had electric changed over. Still can't top up gas and have received a massive bill. They cut of my gas last Wednesday even after me paying the bill they sent me, someone was ment to come out yesterday and never showed up, now unable to get hold of anyone, so have no gas still with a young child in the house. Absolutely disgusting service”

“I have two problems with EDF. The company has been persecuting customers for about three years to install smart meters even though it knows that many are faulty. Also the company treats British customers differently to their own French customers. Specifically last year they cancelled British customers accounts including historic bills detailing usage (with no formal notice) and created new account numbers AND insisted on monthly payments even for customers who paid quarterly. They are an inflexible unsympathetic organisation who seem happy to exploit British customers.d”
“Worst service that you can get from any energy provider in the UK. This energy supplier and their customer support team is the worst that I have ever come across with. I decided to move on with another supplier as I was extremely dissatisfied with their service. I was a pay as you go customer and when I closed my contract they gave me a huge bill to settle, which doesn’t make any sense for a pay as you go account. Never recommend this supplier to anyone.”

“I’ve have taken over a premises that was supplied by EDF and which was on a very high rate . They are making it very difficult for me even as a non customer to move energy companies . This has already taken several weeks and costing me a fortune. Apparently they’re is no one to talk to over the phone about this and can only correspond via email”
