Bought a used Ford Focus from them and they've lied about everything with the car! firstly i was told full service history and that it would be serviced before delivery, first thing i checked when the car came was fluids and i'm gobsmacked...window wash had a tiny bit of water in they couldn't even be bothered to use proper screen wash in freezing nights, oil was mucky and below minimum, coolant was below minimum. Checked my "full service history" and its last service was 42k miles and the car is now on 74k miles, yep 30k miles since its last service! The cheap alloy paint they throw on just came off with a wash, interior had previous owner junk under seats etc and the car turned up as if they had it parked under a tree for 6 months. After not even a day of ownership the automatic gearbox started slipping until completely losing drive on a dual carriageway! they had my car almost a full month and also carried out other work on the car i didn't authorise like parts to do with steering, car left with lovely steering i could turn corners with one finger, got it back and needed both arms to turn a corner! turns out they didn't even do the job right but before admitting it was an issue they tried to tell me its how a Ford Focus steering is meant to be! Now owned the car for three months, horn just packed up, had to replace all three wipers as they smudged screen, both headlight bulbs needed replacing as they gave off about as much light as a candle, gearbox is starting to pack up again after they only fixed it 3 months ago. Do not buy a car from these people! they do not check anything and only rely on previous owners to tell the truth, they dont clean the cars or test drive them and will happily send a delivery guy down to you to hand you the keys to a broken car!

Avoid. Read this. My daughter bought a car from them between Xmas and new year. Salesmen assured her it’s been fully checked out with their comprehensive used car checks etc so she handed over her 14k and was told she would get delivery in a few days. Those few days passed and we heard nothing. Tried calling and emailing to find out what was happening but got no replies for about a week when we were told a warning light came on in the dash and they want to check it out. Another week passes and we hear nothing despite continually chasing them up. They have my daughters money stashed away and we are getting increasingly concerned. After almost a month of trying to get delivery of the car we were told they discovered it needed so much work done that it wouldn’t be worth them selling it so they are just going to auction it!! So clearly just lied about it having been thoroughly checked over prior to selling. What a joke. No help in finding another similar car on their database. They realised they weren’t getting a sale of this car and dropped my daughter like a hot potato. Totally uninterested. Then despite her transferring her money to them immediately when she bought the car she was told it will take three days for them to return her money. Sadly the salesmen at this evans halshaw give all car salesmen a bad name. It was like dealing with second hand car salesmen from way back in the 70s. Absolutely shockingly bad service. I would not trust this company one bit

Sold me a car with a broken gearbox, had me book it in a local garage for 6 days just for them not to authorise work, said never mind we’ll send a driver to drive it 120 mile back to Blackpool Evans Halshaw and yes “drive” just for me to check my gps data and my car was clearly being used as a run around to fish shops and super markets while in their hands for 2 weeks….car went with half a tank of fuel and came back with not even 5 mile to empty yet I was dumb enough to fill hire car up for driver to go back in….never ever trust a Evans Halshaw garage, also the parts they used to fix my gearbox were off a scrap car. Don’t bother

Purchased my Hyundai Fastback at the end of September 2020 as a preregistered car with 56 miles on the clock. It was just under a 1 year old when purchased, being registered in September 2019. Prior to having the car a year I had the car serviced on 17th September, within 2 years . 2 years from the car being registered the battery started failing. I spoke to Hyundai Evans Halshaw Leeds on 22nd October to say the battery was failing and the age of the car. They stated that It probably was something else and needed a diagnostic. I had with the help of a retired auto electrician decided that it would be the battery, but they said they wouldn’t replace it without a diagnostic. They did NOT say that the battery was not covered under the 5 year warranty or that they wouldn’t cover it just 2/ 3 weeks outside the warranty. As a result I struggled for 2 weeks, charging the battery until they could fit me in for a diagnostic. Come the diagnostic, yes the battery has failed! Had the garage advised that the battery would not be covered I would have purchased a battery, not wasted 2 weeks of having to jump start the car and not been charged £126 for a diagnostic which told me what I already knew! To add insult to injury they wanted to charge and additional £320. For a Hyundai battery which again only had a 2 year warranty. I have since purchased a Bosch battery for £120 with a 5 year warranty. Despite complaining and putting in a formal complaint they have not responded. I was treated with total disrespect and am appalled with their service / attitude. DO NOT USE HYUNDAI EVANS HALSHAW LEEDS. CAN RECOMMEND CARS2 HYUNDAI BRADFORD WHERE MY GRANDAD HAS HIS CAR SERVICED.

Bought my Car online in good faith and was given a delivery of 3 days later. 3 days came and went and no phone calls . After numerus calls and emails I am still left without a car or my money back 12 days later. The customer service has been beyond shocking and although there has been one nice gentleman trying to get my £ back, all in all the worse service i have ever encountered.

Evans Halshaw, Bretton, do not go even by invitation, a total disgrace to the Ford brand. Be very careful to all female drivers of large immaculate low mileage vans out there, they are as jealous as hell. Mine returned with a small scratch, which though I told them about they did nothing. Fortunately I got someone to do it and he did a beautiful job at mated rates, but as these (very sorry everybody) racist bastards did nothing I have since reported them to trading standards. Don’t ever take a vehicle to the main dealers for servicing unless it is VW, take it to your small friendly garage. The service man by the name of Paul, a small odious little man with no regard for non fee paying jobs. He sat there and gloated at the prospect of someone bringing a van in just out of warranty to have a lock fixed. If it’s not too late don’t take it there, it’s cheaper to go to harrards and buy a fleece rather than get rinsed there Seriously don’t take your beloved Ford there, they are scum.

I bought a used car from Evans Halshaw and the service book had been stamped to say the car was in good working order, when in actual fact a service had NOT be carried out. On receiving the vehicle the AC was not working and there was a slow leak with the coolant tank. After a barrage of emails between myself and the company spanning over 10 months, Evans Halshaw finally agreed to rectify the coolant leak (a known problem with the Ford Focus) The coolant tank was replaced and had apparently been ‘road tested’ when we collected it. On driving my car home on the M4, the engine light came on and a we lost all power to the car having to making an emergency stop on the hard shoulder. Luckily I am covered by the AA roadside assistance who came and when they completed an under bonnet inspection could see that the hose to the coolant had NOT be reattached and that the car had no coolant in it. The engine was a write off. Evans Halshaw eventually agreed for myself to bring the car back and replace the vehicle with a new engine a their expense. My car was in their garage for 108 days. Finally when it was ready, an MOT and service had been carried out as these had both expired whilst the car as with them, and the service book had stamped once again. I was reassured that everything was in excellent working order and that the car was safe to drive having just passed it’s service etc the previous day. Leaving the forecourt and driving home (approx a 6 mile journey) I checked under the bonnet. To my disbelief the coolant level was showing well below minimum again! If my journey had been any longer than it was, history would have repeated itself and Evans Halshaw would be replacing another engine for a second time. I have since contact Newport Evans Halshaw again today to let them know that they have provided me with a car that was not in a drivable condition, and a staff member there then suggested that I drive the car back to them! My car is not safe to drive in it’s current condition and on my refusal to make that journey to them they have just had someone drop off a bottle of coolant to my home address. I have topped up the coolant and will make a small journey to see if it drops again, which would indicate there is still a problem with the coolant tank after it being replaced. The customer service is forever below average with all staff members who work at Newport Evans Halshaw, who do not appear interested in the disruption and annoyance that this has caused myself. A lack of communication between its staff and mechanics has caused me huge frustration over the 108 days whilst waiting for my car, with many promising that the car would be ready sooner rather than later and that all safety checks had been carried out when it is my belief that these checks have not been carried out. I have never had such poor customer service from such a well known company, who from day one has made me feel that I am the one inconveniencing them, all the while it is their severe lack of competence and poor work ethic that I have been put in potentially dangerous situations time and time again.

Evans halshaw shiremoor- Hands down the Worst car I’ve had in my care to date. Went to look at bmw 4 series with allegedly 1 owner… was reasonably happy with car and asked as part of the deal that chips in paintwork on bonnet were fixed and dents in doors to be pulled out, which was all fine and good. Went to collect car following day… this had not been done, asked if I could take the car to Gateshead branch to have body work done which I was told would be fine… went down to Gateshead branch to organise a date the following day… Gateshead branch had no idea about the arrangement, got told to drive home and shiremoor would collect car from my home. Car got collected to have bodywork dealt with… but only the dints one side of the door as apparently paint man wasn’t in to deal with bonnet… wasn’t very impressed at all. So anyhow cracked on drove car 1 mile and drive train error came up on dash rang garage who agreed to pick car up following day to look at it, so baring in mind this car had 1 owner APPARENTLY I went to find service history of vehicle in glove compartment and found a sold receipt from 2020 so that of course makes 2 previous owners not the apparent 1 so I then called the previous owner as of course there was a phone number there… who advised me that the car was a death hazard and they didn’t trust the car and apologised that the vehicle fell into my hands. Called shiremoor and asked once again how many owners this car had which I was told again just the one… at this point all trust was lost I knew they either didn’t have a clue or are complete liars… but not only this I found sensitive documentation about someones drivers liscence details alongside address etc who had test drove the car the week prior in the glove compartment. Now we are in the middle of a global pandemic so the fact I’m finding all this firstly screams out this car hadn’t been cleaned at all and had put my 4 month old baby at risk. The Car ended up being rejected back to the garage within 3 days. I simply wouldn’t purchase a vehicle again from evans. Ended up being unable to get any credit after this episode. Luckily my partner managed to purchase a car on my behalf from a main BMW garage. Do yourself a favour always take yourself to a main dealer. Don’t buy from evans they don’t know what they are selling you they fell deeply below standards. I Wasted £80 on a tank of fuel, £50 insurance admin fees and a lot of my time. Absolutely disgusting And just to add I had to change my babies nappy on bathroom floor in the car garage as there was no changing facilities. Which wasn’t too pleasant either so please sort this out for other customers.

evans hallshaw gateshead, grab your money for a brand new car, then when it needs repairing under warranty, they give you the run around, talk to you like you're an idiot, 16 weeks and told it will take another 8 weeks before they can repair. i would not believe it, if it was not happening to me.

We bought a used Toyota Yaris less than 3 years old in the middle of June. My partner complained of it being noisy but just thought they were noisy cars. However it was necessary for me to drive it a couple of weeks ago Immediately I knew there was a wheel bearing gone on it. She had only done 1100 miles in the car. It was 2 weeks outside the 3 months warranty but it was obvious this had been gone for a long time. We took it back to Evans Halshaw at Burnley who weren’t interested but said they would have a look at it. They contacted us to collect it and said they weren’t prepared to do anything We also asked them about the brakes that were grinding. They said they put new disc pads on before she got it. We were disgusted and took it to a reputable garage. They found that the wheel bearing was on the point of collapse and this couldn’t have happened in 1100 miles. Also the brake pads were down to the metal and were the original pads fitted when the vehicle was manufactured three years ago. Why did they lie and say they had fitted new ones. I would not buy a nut and bolt off them. Do not expect any after sales backup if you buy from them. I am keeping all the parts in case anyone would like to see them and a reminder never to buy off Evans Halshaw again. No wonder they only have 2 stars they don’t deserve that

Do not buy a car from Evans Halshaw! i got drawn into buying a Ford Focus that looked decent on photos that not only do they just polish up the car etc and use quick repair alloy paint but they seem to even photoshop and edit photos so you cant see scratches and dents. They falsely advertise that vehicles come with service history and will be serviced before sale, now lets get onto my experience. Bought a Focus 14 plate with 62k miles, claimed full service history yet its had two services both low miles so its had two services in 7 years? they told me the car would be checked and serviced before delivered and was it? nope...car turned up with no coolant, oil just on minimum, water for washer fluid etc and brakes were shot to bits! They sold me the car with faults, horn not working, parcel shelf broke, no matts, cig lighter not working, gearbox juddering which amazes me that they had the cheek not to just sell me the car with a gearbox broken but to happily drive it 120 miles to me for delivery and hand me the keys!! took them twenty something days to fix my gearbox and sent someone to fetch it and drive it back to Blackpool 120 miles with a broken gearbox..the logic! Its clear to me now that they do zero checks, they rely simply on the previous owner to of looked after the vehicle and do nothing they are simply just there selling as many cars as possible regardless of the state of them! i also realised a few days in that my cars boot lines dont line up equal so the previous owner either took a rear end or reversed into something but either way its not recorded. Sold me a doctored up car and didn't care, they covered up things so about time warranty ran out and i was hit with failing parts and they didn't care! previous owner clearly wanted rid so just threw it at these lot to sell it someone else so its their problem. - Never serviced my car but promised 3 times - Sold/delivered with broke gearbox and other faults - Sold with below minimum for fluids - Wrongfully stamped the book when brakes etc wasn't checked - Took their time fixing my car like i didn't need it! - Delivery was a man who left wrappers on my seats and a coffee in my door and just had me sign and ran off!

People seem happy with their purchases but its all very well until you encounter an issue. 1 star is generous for the complete lack of any service and response to my emails to their so called customer service line (4 emails sent by me and the warranty company Pendragon has lodged 3 formal complaints also and zero response) The service Dept no longer respond to my direct emails of which there has been well over 20 emails where none of the promises have been kept, preferring to brush this matter under the carpet, constantly i was given excuses, saying they would get me an answer the following day, but then time and time again it is completely ignored or forgotten with no resolution. I bought a second hand car that was delivered to me with a fault, which left my rear tyres heavily worn on the inside and a loud humming noise from the rear of the car. I was told to take it to a dealer to get checked, which isolated the issue through their diagnostic tools. I followed all of the instructions from Evans Halshaw fully and have been noting but patient, but now they have completely stopped responding to my communications leaving me without any solution or information and i am stuck with a 120000 pound car i feel uneasy about using now (this has now been going on for over 3 months) All i want is for someone to communicate and let me know what can be done about it. I am not asking for the moon here.

My experience would take far too long to fully explain. I went to the Evans Halshaw in Milton Keynes. I do not know the salesman name in question because he never introduced himself. He couldn’t have been less interested if he tried. He was so incredibly unfriendly and so unhelpful. When inspecting my car for a part exchange, which is six years old, with a dent in the side & some scratches,he screwed his face up & criticised my car! I’ve never felt so uncomfortable, ever. I had to leave. It felt like my small budget was no interest to him. I went to another garage that day & was treated with respect & I’ve reserved a car. I’ve submitted a complaint to head office.

Back in THE START June 2021I bought a car after being sent a personal video of the car, i called and spoke to Jamie the car salesman who described the car and assured me any issues would be rectified before it left to be delivered. Now this car cost almost £20k and i knew of recalls which were present on this type of car, again i was assured they'd all be done prior to delivery... so i bought it. So delivery day comes, the car had the exact issues with iot that were supposed to had been checked (and as the salesman said) double checked BEFORE it was delivered.I wont go into it and bore you all but its taken me ALMOST 3 months to get the car sorted by a DS dealer and only today i got everything done , its now 20th AUGUST! I had to open a case against them using resolver and finally the manager agreed to pay for the issues but would not compensate me for the 4 round trips at 80 miles each, the time i had to take off work and the stress of having to use hire cars while all this was done. sorry to say i definitely do not recommend this company.

Bought a 2017 blue bmw 335d three weeks ago, newcastle for £19500 and had delivered supposed to be excellent condition, but on car coming  of transporter I saw a couple of scratches on door, and the front bumper headlights windscreen covered in stone chips. I immediately phoned them back, to be told what do you expect from a car 4 yr old. Because car  was a hugh spec and inside was stunning, I priced up a bumper respray which was £400 and asked whether they would go half's. They replied immediately they have want car back, which let to my suspicion why the car was wanted back. I paid a specialist BMW garage to check car and found it was accident smashed and not recorded. Lift bonnet and it was the left suspension turrent with diabolical sealant around new repair and the sticker still showing on new inner wing. I got my money back after 5 days but was out of pocket as had sold my car so no vehicle and asked whether they could help with hire car, I'd paid insurance and then cancelled it with a fee for doing so. The manager told me where to go? Surprise surprise car is for sale again today in same garage for £500 quid less, and no mention of accident damage. Be ware of evans halshaw.
