Quoted me over £520 for the same insurance that my local independent company offered me for £375, and I get personal treatment with them being a shop in my own town. Churchill is a rob dog!

Their customer service is none existent. A customer of theirs drove into me and was completely at fault. When approached for my excess back as they are liable to pay it, they’ve ignored my letters, messages and emails for 3 weeks. I’m in my early 20’s and just bought a house and it put me in the position where I had to take a loan out to cover this unexpected cost which isn’t even my fault and they don’t even have the decency to respond to me. Avoid

Absolutely disgraceful company at handling claims.. Was hit by a drink driver in a hit and run, they arent authorising repairs as they believe it wasnt caused by the accident (the accident was in the middle of the night, which nobody saw and the man was drunk!! how can they determine this!!) Engineer was rude in expressing his concerns, basically calling me a liar. Handled badly from start to finish, no communication have to constantly ring them for answers!! DO NOT USE !!!

Their computer systems are so rubbishy they automatically renewed the policy. My cancellation was not taken seriously, now they want £29.12 cancellation fee,. PS . Only payment method is by phone, what about the hard of hearing.

Abysmal outfit. My renewal quote was 20% higher, so I cancelled and went with Direct Line. Their computer systems are so rubbishy they automatically renewed the policy! My cancellation was not taken seriously !

I would not recommend dealing with this company. No wonder the dog looks guilty at times. I have been with Churchill on and off over the years for car insurance. Recently I received a renewal premium (maximum no claims) with a price hike that was frankly ludicrous and an annual cost grossly non-competitive against a range of other reputable insurance underwriters. The company appears to operate its strategy on a presumption that I am sufficiently gullible not to run a few online checks. Winston Wolfe and Direct Line turn out to be rather more believable than an over-indulged, sneaky-eyed mutt called Churchill!

I have been with them several years, and with maximum NCB. This year, the renewal premium was increased by over 20%. Why? They obviously do nor want me as a customer, so I have left, and joined Direct Line, at a significantly lower premium for the same policy. Alas, they were not prepared to negotiate, customer loyalty is unimportant to them.

Awful! You pay a premium for a reason but they make you do it all yourself and lie to you! A drunken driver drove into our driveway destroying 2 walls and damaging 2 cars and writing another 1 off (also with Churchill) clear case with the police even baffled as to why 7 months on our excess still not returned nor our walls rebuilt!! Stay away!!

I used emergency home cover and called at 8.am as I have a leak. They said someone would be with me shortly and I’m still waiting. Called to check on progress they said they were unable to contact their supplier and suggested I made my own arrangements which they would pay for. Outrageous and not fit for purpose. I will now not renew my home buildings car and breakdown cover when the current policies end.

Terrible! Trying to change my vehicle on policy from a high spec SUV ( ABI Grp 47 ) to a standard hatchback, apparently the new premium is too expensive and they can't insure the new vehicle - so a household brandname insurance company cannot cover an ordinary vehicle! Asked for an explanation of why premium would be so high, this isn't provided to call centre staff and underwriters are not a customer facing team! As a chartered underwriter myself, I find this whole situation disgraceful and not customer focussed! Only option available is to cancel policy ( paying any admin fees ) and move elsewhere as an insurance company will not take on a reduced risk! Absolute joke

Worst company ever! Was involved in a car accident and was hit from the back! Accident caused damage to my air suspension and hand brake. Churchill’s mechanics autotech in slough advised them to pay me out as the costs are to high. Churchill’s engineer has then responded back to me with ‘these are common faults’ ‘your accident wasn’t that big’ ‘these cars are designed to go off road’ after numerous phone calls and disputes he then sent it off to Land Rover to do diagnostics which basically just picked up the problems that had occurred(basically wasted more time) he then told me he is willing to pay me for the back bumper ? I completely disagreed and didn’t accept any type of offer they have offered me so my claim is still in dispute. Mean while what the engineer has now down is cancelled my hire vehicle so now I have no vehicle at all. It seems to me that he has cancelled my hire contract in hope that I will accept any type of offer he throws at me which is not the case. Overall this company has played me around it took over 2 weeks for solicitors to contact me regarding my injury claim (which till this day I’ve not been seen by anyone). If you enjoy arguments this company is for you ! Literally a bunch of cowboys! Avoid.

Took my many years no claims, then wrote it off, claiming it was just honouring it and mirroring it. They said it was all above board, but basically they were trying to lock me in. I am now down to 1 YNC without making any claims.

Posted a one star review of home insurance 3 days ago and surprise, surprise, it wasn't there the next day which proves that someone at Churchills read them. Because this happened I sent in a review to Trust pilot. The very next day I got a phone call from Churchill informing me of how I misinterpreted what they told me. As a result a £198 plumbers bill will now be paid to me (as a goodwill gesture), and the cost of renovation to my water damaged walls and ceiling which they estimated at £1,300 pounds and for which my lowest estimate was £1,900. It would seem now that was something else I misunderstood, as I instructed tradesman Churchill would not accept. So I compromised and accepted a repair job for the £1,300 they were prepared to pay. Now they tell me on the phone they would have accepted £1,900!! Too late, the repair is underway. No mention of recompense for outright lies. I repeat, do not trust this company. I will be cancelling car insurance now since all trust has gone. It will be interesting to see if this review goes the same way as the previous one. Will let you know.

The worse car insurance out there. Emma Uren ignored an email for 2 months and has now cost me my insurance. They have cancelled the insurance without warning because my previous provider doesn't have a fancy logo printed on their no claims information. That is enough for me to be told my insurance expired yesterday!

Took out car insurance. Made a claim as it was not my fault (third party was an 18 year old who had a license for about 3 months) however as it was a mini roundabout they said it had to be 50-50 fault wise. Said they would chase up third party after 21 days, I even had to find the council contact details for the CCTV which I gave them. This would have cleared my claim to a no fault claim however long story short they didn't contact them; the council deleted the footage after 31 days. If you want an insurer that doesn't do what they are getting paid to do, go right ahead. Definitely has taught me a lesson.

Despite my informing Churchill (on 13th February, spoke to Diane who assured me she'd made the change on their system) that I did not want to renew with them (prior to my policy expiration 11 March) I got a letter saying they'd autorenewed on 15th March - four days after expiration. I phoned on 15th, spoke to Kirsty who assured me absolutely that it was cancelled and that they would definitely not take payment. Today, 19th March, I see that they've taken a random amount £204.96 from my account. This is outrageous - I have only just enough in my account to prevent this making it overdrawn. Do not deal with these people - even if you record dates and names they will still take your money. They can only be just this side of legal behaviour.

Disgusting treatment my vehicle was damaged by a Churchill customer and went in for repairs and was return to me with a broken front spring. My vehicle was in perfect working ordered and have proved this via pre work checks yet neither the body shop or Churchill are willing to pay for the work as they it’s wear and tear! So I’m £120 out of pocket for something that’s not my fault. What shocks me more is they deem this acceptable! Avoid at all costs
