Should be no stars... between MCD and Premuim Direct they couldn't organise.... themselves. No incentives for completing bike courses, fitting a tracking system to my bike or an alarm system to my garage. Then making payments the response was oh I don't know how that didn't work... I tried their website, their app, their automated payment system and I called in?? Dire.

I had my bike stolen and made a claim, it was from this point that hidden charges became apparent. To call them you need to ring a number that costs 7p per minute. The final straw was they took a payment from my credit card as a final balance payment. This was taken under there TERMS and CONDITIONS and without my authority. I was under the impression that card details could not be retained by companies for long period of time??? I will never recommend or use them again. Why do they not offer a transparent service instead of hiding details. Therefore the online portal is not a true reflection of your insurance premium, they appear to be competitive until you come to claim.

I was informed by customer services that they had attempted to call me to discus an over payment they had made for a credit ( balance of cover payment -£50 of course) and that these phone call attempts represent correspondence. I then get an email saying I had a policy cancelled 'on me' which may have serious financial consequences while seeking future cover. Over all, had they simply emailed me a couple sentences based on the facts requesting the return of the overpayment all would have been simple and stress free.

ITS A SCAM!!! They sell your policy to a credit company! (you cannot cancel this) After my bike got stolen and had to pay £85 to cancel and they refused to give my £55 deposit back. I then received a letter from a credit company (Premium Credit) fining me £30 and demanding the rest of policy money for the whole year (£410) It also took THREE phone calls and TWO-THREE hours on the phone to Motorcycle Direct Customer Services just to request ONE email proving proof they have wiped this. They would not provide written evidence this whole time after making promises of it. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

AVOID Their business model ( regretably like many brokers) is to attempt to generate as much additional income as possible from their range of extra fees eg cancellation I specifically requested at the time of taking out a policy ( I actually had to call back afterreceipt of policy to do this would not do it at the time of initial payment) that it was not to be automatically renewed. They completely ignored this instruction and the renewal notice arrived stating funds would be taken from the card originally used 5 days before the policy expired.

3 months into a £90 policy I sold my bike. Called to cancel. Told me I was entitled to £47 back, but there was a £50 cancellation fee, so I owed them £3! which the agent offered to waiver. So after 3 months of a 12 month policy I get nothing back (in fact officially, I owed them £3). Shocking attitude and they were not bothered. Will be writing to ombudsman. As a bonus each complaint to the ombudsman costs them c.£500. From reading the reviews on here, a few more people need to be reporting Motorcycle Direct to the ombudsman for their extortion.

I insured my bike and cancelled policy a month later when they would not insure my son as an additional rider because of his occupation - he is a records clerk in a hospital ! He would not be using bike to work. I lost a full years premium - then they made it sound like they were doing me a favour as they hadn't charged the full administration fee. Avoid !!!

I had no idea that you had to declare any incident you had in a car. I had a bicycle run into my car then ride away. I had damage which my car insurance company paid to have repaired. Not my fault. Nothing to do with me riding a scooter for 30 plus years with no incident or accident. Had a scathing letter from Motorcycle Direct warning me that they would cancel my bike insurance as I had not declared this incident. They then charged me an admin fee for the letter warning me about the failure to declare. Their website needs to say that ALL incidents in any vehicle need to be declared. I have never had any problem with any other insurance company. Warning to all riders - don't insure with Motorcycle Direct.

Changed to a different bike and rang up to transfer the insurance. Was told no change in the premium but the excess was doubled. I was the informed that there would be a £50 "administration fee". I said that I thought this was excessive (more than half the premium) and the woman I spoke to said, "This has been our policy for five years." As if that was in some way justifying it! A rip-off - I'll go elsewhere next time.

I took out my insurance on 19/03/17 for £125 for the year. In April my scooter fell into disrepair so I declared it off road on the last day of the month. When I called to tell my insurance company, they said I only had 7 days to find a new bike, otherwise I would have to cancel my insurance completely, receive no refund and get charged £60 for cancelling. I was with them for only just over a month! So I will now have to pay for my insurance twice plus the cancellation fee. They were very rude on the phone and said if I didn't pay the £60 they would take it from my account anyway. Absolute day light robbery. Do not touch this company with a barge poll!!

Every year they automatically renew my insurance (usually by about 80%)unless I contact them .after having written to them not to do this they have subsequently done it again and refused to give me a full refund. I presently have two bikes insured with them but won't be using them again too much aggravation .

As stated above, a simple change on the policy resulted in a £50.00 admin fee, which is EXTORTIONATE! I heard the representative key in the changes at the other end (all 30 seconds worth) - daylight robbery. Also hate the fact they close their support lines at 17:30. Not good if you are working all day and need to contact them. Shall not be renewing.
