Do not use the Goldcar rentals. I had a 13 day reservation for a vehicle at Jerez Cadiz Airport at a cost of 446 euros. Due to an airline weather cancellation that delayed our family vacation for 24 hours, Goldcar did not provide me the vehicle or provide a refund or voucher for a future rental. The Goldcar representative said it was in the contract for no car or refund if not picked up on time. They were not concerned that me and the family did not have a way to move in a foreign country. Please do not use this service or you will end up in the same predicament.

Lucky to get one star. I caught Covid whilst on holiday and Goldcar saw this as an opportunity to make big bucks off me. I contacted them to extend the contract and they charged me £270 for two days hire of a Fiat 500. Then they said I hadn’t contacted them and kept my £176 deposit. They refuse to reply to my emails so it’s now down to a claim through my credit card. Please do not deal with this company as it always ends badly….

I got a car that had been in an accident (which I noticed on inspecting it upon receipt). Upon mentioning this, I got the remark back that it was fixed and I'm fully insured anyway. Half way during our trip, the brakes start making very weird noises. The road assistance was reasonably quick (1.5 hours to pickup), but then the fact that we needed a taxi of 1.5hours to Thessaloniki, and then wait another 1.5 hours there for them to arrange another car is a Huge waste of a vacation day. Long story short, i do NOT recommend Gold car anymore. Find another car rental company if you read this. P.s. prices are definitely not low, so I was expecting a lot more.

We booked a car in advance at Barcelona airport without insurance. The lady (staff) at the Goldcar desk tried to deceive us multiple ways. Here is how it went: First she tried to push us to buy insurance (roughtly 1.5x the price of the car rental) and to pay for some additional tax which she said was not included in the booking price. We said no. Then, because we have had only debit card, she told us there is a deposit roughly €1500 (this is correct and we did know that in advance) to cover damage etc. charged form the debit card. And then... she said there is 12% nonrefundable fee from that (it would be €180) which the bank will charge for the tansaction. She also said, that is the reason, why is better to buy insurance. She gave me business card with customer service number and said I can verify that. I pulled out phone to call them. She probably did not expect that and said that customer service is rented call center and that they know much less then them at the desk. At customer service line they said there is no such a fee (also, the transaction fee was not charged to my debit card later). So again, we said we will proceed without insurance. She gave us a paper and said to sign it at the bottom, that the rest of it is NOT IMPORTANT. We have read the paper and there were checkboxes "with insurance", "without insurance". Neither one was marked, so I bet, she would check whatever she would want (only my assumption). So I marked "without insurance" and signed at the bottom. At the end she asked us to sign the contract electronically on touchpad. We said we want to see the contract before signing it. She said ENOUGH and tore the already signed papers in parts. She said they will give us back rental price and deposit (fortunatelly this really happened later) and that they cancel the contract. We were left at the airport without car in the middle of the summer season, when the prices are high. Fortunatelly the competing car rental company know them and after hearing this story, they gave us a great discount (cheapest around, even it was 3x higher than original booking at Goldcar).

Flight arrived earlier and couldn’t take the car. Terms and conditions wrong. They don’t say that for your petrol deposit you need credit card Made me paid 300 euros extra for their own errors.

After paying £209.34 and then an extra £76.56 for full insurance with Ryanair (No hidden extras!!) prior to leaving the UK to hire a Renault Clio at Fuerteventura airport with Goldcar for 12 days, Goldcar have then charged us an extra £328.66 to hire the car. This isn't the fault of Ryanair, but just a scam by Goldcar, reflected by hundreds of negative comments on the Facebook page and the @avoid_goldcar Twitter account, Which, amongst other places reviewing their service. I'm not holding my breath, but they still need to refund me another £225.03. I'll be happy to re-review them if that happens.

Original car-hire was for 5 days at a cost of £111.86 On arrival at Faro Airport to collect the car staff were extremely unhelpful, with some untrained 16-year old youth showing us our car! You will be asked for extra insurance cost, advance payment for motorway activation box in car and extortionate fuel allowance, when you are then presented with credit-type cards - these do not work when presented at the garage! On our return we were told that their was no rear luggage tray, which had not been in the car on collection, but the following day we received an invoice from Goldcar for 100 euros to cover the cost. Have lodged a formal complaint, but don't hold out much hope! Total cost of car-hire was £434.06 Extortionate rip-off!!!

Total Conmen I returned the car and there were no checks due to covid. Next thing I see a 350 euro charge on my credit card. First call, I was told the car was damaged asked for evidence, Second call, I was told the tyre was damaged asked for evidence. Third call, told the wheel was damaged. Finally got a photo of a random wheel with all meta data removed from the photo. I had a video of the car showing no damage to anything on return. Charge refunded by the credit card company as they are well aware of Goldcar scams. Still waiting for Fuel refund. Avoid Goldcar Malaga Airport at all costs.

This is possibly the worst company I have ever given my business to. When we arrived a day late to collect our pre-booked and pre-purchased car due to sandstorms (the Calima) on Tenerife, they told us that the car we had paid for was not available and that they would give us a different car. On returning to the UK, I noticed an extra charge for nearly £90 on my credit card from Goldcar. Despite raising this with the company, they told me that I agreed to this at the pickup desk in Tenerife, which I did not. I have tried all routes to get a refund of this fee and have been unsuccessful. In addition to this, the hire car was purchased through a cash back site and the company have not honoured the cash back, despite all of their merchant terms being met. Goldcar use underhanded tactics to essentially steal money from you. A real cowboy company, stay well clear.

DONT BE FOOLED !!!!!!!!!! Hired car from Las Palmas airport. 2 days after return saw eur200 charge on my credit card. They say it was damage to bumper. Took date stamped photos on collection and return to prove damage was in placed when collected. No one there to check the car upon return just a note in the car park to take keys to airport desk. Sent date stamped photos for counter claim. Guess What? month later no response .ignored. Have asked credit card to charge back. THEY ALWAYS COME OUT AS THE CHEAPEST. but they make their money not on the rental but on the extras and claim damage. I say damage my situation was more a mark on the bumper I didnt do. TERRIBLE AVOID AT ALL COSTS, IF NOT REMEMBER THIS POST WHEN YOU PROBLEMS ARRIVE.

Terms and conditions said they accepted debit cards. They didn't and the rent ended up being 303 pounds more expensive than expected. The company (carjet) never gave me a good explanation as to why Goldcar did no accept my debit and said it was too late because I had signed the agreement. Would never recommend!

My son got charged with a €1,100 bail because he is under 24 years old. Though he returned the car without any damage (AND EVEN CLEANER than when he received the car) during MORE THAN 2 MONTHS THEY DIDN'T GIVE HIS (my) MONEY BACK, with dozens of unbeliveable excuse: the dog ate the homework, the money is on way. Apart from that, the car was filthy.

Booked a car with Goldcar in January 2020 fully insured around £450, for September 2020. Meanwhile due to Covid 19 pandemic i was not able to travel. Goldcar just kept the money, not showing any goodwill at all to give any vouchers or something similar, always arguing no cancellations where accepted in my booking. Just end up with the feeling i ve been robbed.

I'm giving 1 star because you can't give zero. I had exactly the same experience in Fuerteventura Airport. Booked via Ryanair which had a very competitive voucher (60 € per 1 week rental). In the Ryanair voucher the company INTER-RENT was indicated. When we got to the INTERRENT office in the terminal, it was closed (obviously), even though we were on perfect time, about 7.30 pm. There was a paper taped on the glass advising to go to GOLDCAR in case the office was closed. So we went, even though Goldcar was never mentioned in our papers until that moment (this is why Ryanair is a cheecky company, not only for its own policies but also for the companies it chooses to collaborate with...) The queue was far slower than any other (CICAR, SIXT, BUDGET-AVIS, EUROPCAR were serving customers about 3 times quicker..), and when it was our turn we realised why: the lady at the desk was initially gentle, but when she tried to sell us the full insurance and we refused, she became very rude all of a sudden and started some sort of psychological terrorism stating the roads in Fuerteventura are dangerous, that there are many car thieves, people drive crazy and only 40% of roads have asphalt....which is ALL not true, in reality. She said that they needed to take €1.220 as deposit for damages and fuel. Very expensive but we had not many choices, so we did it (and after 4 hours flight, 1+ h of queue and empty stomach you don't want to throw away your voucher and start a new queue for another car at a manybe higher price..) The papers said the car had no damage, we checked it and saw nothing particular, also because it was already dark when we collected it. During our holiday we casually heard about terrible reviews on Goldcar, and thank God for that!!! We felt as we were going to end up in their trap as well, so when we returned it we made DOZENS of pictures of the car. When we went to the box office, initially there was no one (how strange!!!) but eventually two guys with Goldcar shirts turned up. I asked them if I could have a paper stating the car was returned in good conditions but they refused to do so, insisting on the fact that "there is no paper" and that I would have received an email. When I said that this paper is normal practice of every rental company, they got annoyed and aggressive, shouting that "there is no paper", and "you will receive an email", refusing once more to check the car. I left saying "fine, but be aware that I made A LOT of pictures" my deposit was returned a few days ago, so that's a great relief...but I feel I was just lucky that no scam happened, because everything seemed going in that direction...if we were a bit more distracted and trustful we would have certainly been scammed, as everything seemed like a set-up of the same old trick they did to many many customers all across Europe over the years. so, ultimately, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! If you can't avoid: - insist on every possible paperwork - take many pictures when you pick up the car and when you return it (including the tank indicator, tyres, car instrumentation panel....everything!) - if you feel suspicious, trust your instinct and go with someone else...trust me, you'll save money and hassle I wonder, reading other reviews and knowing that the Antitrust has fined them many times, how come companies like these can exist in a civilized world...probably the money they make by literally robbing costumers is enough to pay lawyers, politicians or whoever.
