Avoid Goldcar in Malaga, they will trick you and add hundreds of pounds extras without telling you one word. Complaining is totally useless. Shameless company. Avoid Avoid Avoid

After having a driver damage my rental car while I was sitting in it, and deny having done so, I called Goldcar to ask what I should do. I had to go to the police and file a complaint, including the number plate of the offending car. I returned the car, signed an inspection form with the counter agent, left him with a copy of the police report and was nonetheless charged for the damage and asked to repeat the same information I had already given twice. It is clear that Goldcar is not in business to make money by renting cars, but prefers to bill customers for damage to cars, without actually using the money collected to repair the cars, many of which are in pitiful shape. I know nothing about Spanish law, but in other countries, the fact of identifying a driver responsible for damaging your car means that the OTHER driver pays for the damage, not YOU. Why is that not the case in Spain?

AVOID. The car broke down. Then despite returning with a full tank of petrol they only returned half of my deposit. It seems to be there standard policy. Absolute crooks. AVOID.

The worst rental company I have ever seen. Multiple hidden costs and unprofessionals. Do not book! 1 star because there was no option for zero

People need to beware of a company that has made a business out of taking money from your credit card once they have your details. I was scammed out of over e200 from goldcar with no explanation as to why. They should be avoided at all cost. They lure you in with cheap online rental costs and then they load on the charges. Avoid.

Added over 200 Euros extras to my bill. No discussion with me. Hidden on the bill in Spanish. Worst behaviour by any car rental company I used in the last 35 years . Clear cut fraudulent behaviour. Never use their Malaga airport office ever

Alquilé el coche en el aeropuerto de Alicante, recorrí únicamente unos 50 Km, el coche me lo entregaron con 8 daños detallados en la hoja de entrega, al cogerlo veo que tiene 4 daños mas, se lo comunico a la persona que se encuentra en el lugar y me dice que saque fotos de dichos daños y las muestre en la entrega, cuando entrego el coche me dice que 2 de los daños (roce en las llantas) de los cuales tengo fotografías de que estaban en el momento de recogida, los he realizado yo y que se me cargaran en mi fianza, realizándome un cargo de 250€ Realizo la reclamación a Goldcar aportando las fotografías de esos daños y me contestan que "Dichas fotografías no son concluyentes y que no son de las llantas??"., también me contestan que dichas fotografías carecen de Fecha y Hora. Les vuelvo a enviar las fotografías sacadas con mi móvil y con la información de fecha y hora así como de la ubicación de las mismas y no recibo absolutamente ninguna respuesta. Conclusión me han engañado y dejado sin 250€, está claro que van a cazar, te dan un vehículo con múltiples arañazos y pequeños golpes, que algunos no están reflejados en la hoja de entrega, para que en la entrega tengan la justificación "suya, no la tuya" para cobrarte. Adjunto las fotos suyas y las mías.

Gold car I had a terrible experience with this company. They were rude, lazy, nasty bullies. The car parks at the airport are very confusing and I found it very difficult to find my way to their cabin. In the end I parked it as close as I could on the row below and went to ask how I could get my way to their spot. I was suffering with shingles, it was a very hot day, and I had my luggage to cart around with me. As I approached their cabin (10 second walk) there were 3 of their staff idling outside. I was so shocked when they immediately starting shouting at me. ‘Where is the car’. You have to bring it here, you can’t leave it there. I said can’t you please help me but they all just continued being incredibly rude and disrespectful. One particular man said ‘shut up and listen to me!!!! I said ‘don’t be so rude’. He then repeated himself and was barking orders at me. I was absolutely flabbergasted. I was trying to explain and get help, directions but they were all shouting over each other. Then some woman inside leaned around a corner and starting barking ‘there are great big blue directions on the road’ you have to follow them. (there were blue signs on the road, but when it came to the crucial area where you chose which turning to take you were in a queue of traffic and couldn’t see them. She spoke to me as though she thought I was absolutely stupid. Honestly I felt like I was in another dimension. Then a 5th woman joined in. she was also very unpleasant – despite being lovely when giving me the car initially. I was ordered by her to ‘pay for the car park’, I said yes of course I’ll pay the parking fee…., she waited for me to say that and then she then repeated ‘you have to pay for the car park!’ (after paying close to £1000 for the car hire I was hardly going to have a problem paying 80c for parking!) It was like one dog started barking and they all mindlessly joined in. Unbelievable behavior. I was so upset I couldn’t even get out of the car parking lot (also hindered by the fact it was in Spanish). I nearly abandoned the car at the gate. Thankfully a security guard came over and he helped me. After finally finding my way back and returning the car I turned away and walked down to the airport in tears. I couldn’t stop sobbing. In the airport I was so distraught I collapsed to the ground, I couldn’t stop crying and didn’t think I was going to be able to cope with the rest of my journey. I was in such a state and if it hadn’t been for other passengers and some of the staff I don’t know how I would have managed the rest of the journey. I would NEVER use this company again. They are an absolute disgrace.

They added extras to my car rental at Malaga airport (in Spanish!!) without saying one word. These extras ( no agreement by or aby discussion with me even for one second) were only realised by me than I realised they had taken over 200 Euros of my credit car. Do under no circumstances rent a car from Goldcar at the Malaga airport. I had no problems with this company in Faro, Portugal but in Malaga they will try to defraud you. Will never use this company again!!!! Diese Firma wird versuchen dich zu betruegen, extras werden ohne Diskussion auf deiner Rechnung auftauchen. Miete unter keinen Umstaenden von dieser Firma am Flughafen in Malaga. Sie werden versuchen dich abzuzocken. Sein gewarnt. Widerliche Geschaeftspraktiken.

Extra charged were added without any discussion or agreement at the airport. I Spanish ! So this is fraund itsn't it ? I had booked the car via carrental.co.uk and prepaid. I only realised that they had smuggled extras which I never would have wanted when I saw on my credit card whta they had charged me over 200 Euros !! Do under no circumstances book a car with them at Malaga airport in Spain

Second time I've used this company. I'd forgotten I'd used them before during the 'great car dent rip off scam' several years ago where I lost €500. Thankfully, I got it back as the company had a massive fine, and my insurance paid out but back to December this year. Would not accept my third party comprehensive insurance specifically for car hire, charged me a lot of money for their own insurance as they qould kit let me take the car, charged me €150 euros to cross 4 miles away into Italy. Got stopped by the police and fined €60.90 for not having snow tyres/chains. Went back to the airport at the end of the week only to be told that the police were lying to me. I informed them that a: The Italian police told me that Goldcar do this regularly, and b: I drive HGV's for a living and that indeed, the police were right, no snow tyres/chains. The face went white, photoglcopies were taken, assurances were made that I would be repayed. Nada. Complained to Goldcar, email came back to say that they don't provide snow chains etc, that I should have bought them and fitted than in my workshop that I carry in my back pocket. The company knew the rules, and they gave me 2 fingers. NEVER use this company. They have literally millions of bad reviews, been fined etc and are actually owned by Europcar! My Lord Europcar! Sell this bad debt and get rid of the thieves you employ! My fault for not checking and forgetting about this company!

It's a big scam, after the rental period they took another 700 euros from my account when I contacted them to ask why and they should refund this money they hang up for 5 times, promised me e-mail answer for 3 times and told me that they did not take that money. Clearly, my bank statement says otherwise.

Horrendous, deceitful company. Took out full car insurance prior to travel. When collecting my car no mention of charging me extra for travel insurance. Was totally scammed. My credit card company, Nationwide, declined to help and the financial ombudsman was useless. Cost an extra £200 for insurance I had already purchased. Do not use Goldcar in Malaga

Never Ever Rent with this company. If you do make sure you take a full set of photos of every inch of the car. Better still get the insurance salesman commonly known as the customer services agent sitting behind the Goldcar Rental Desk at Malaga Airport to come and inspect the car with you before you drive it away. You must ensure you both agree any damage and get them to sign in blood if you have to. I have just been charged £293.68 for damage that was already on a 15000 kilometer car. Make sure you get an inspection when you return the car to the drop point. Don't do as I did when I asked for someone to sign it off and accept a member of staff telling me to drop the keys in the box and they would refund the petrol charge once they had checked It was returned full. Whilst they took this money from my credit card within 48hours for their pre arranged damage, they have so far failed to return my petrol refund. On that subject of fuel charges beware of their highly inflated petrol charges as although you return the car back full you only get about half of their original charge for a full tank back. Used them for the past 8 years Never Again.

Avoid this car hire company they cannot be trusted at all. Even if you book their insurance and take the car on a fuel full and return with a full tank, they still only refunded around half my fuel cost despite it stating it would be fully refunded when returned full which it was with photos to prove. Having contacting them more than 6 times including through their portal my issue has been totally ignored. Will not be using again. It is not worth considering using them especially if you are not wanting to take their insurance, as they insist on you taking out their insurance.

do not rent Goldcar, if you reserve and do not show up at the exact time, they keep your money and you do not get the car. they refer to their conditions I have never seen. whole story: My plane was delayed and goldcar office in Reus was closed when I arrived. The reservation does not even state the office hours in Reus. I called goldcar. The man said nothing can be done I have to come tomorrow. So I stayed in a hotel 15 min away and I did return next day. The agent in Reus told me since I did not pick up the car, the car is gone. He also said the money is gone and I should call customer service, nothing he can do. He was friendly but helpless. He offered me to rent another car for 1 week and 300 euros. Not to keep up the line with 20 nice dutch people, I left with a taxi. So next to the hotel stay and two taxi rides am I correct to understand that you do not repay the reservation for a car that you did not reserve for the rented period I paid for? I have never experienced such a bad customer service – not based on the agents but on the company policies and conditions. I wrote them and they refused to pay the money back. 500 euros lost, but that is the smallest issue. The experience is awful and traumatic.

The rental itself was OK, however 50 days later I still have not received my car deposit back (over 1200 Euro). There has been no damage to the car, only the company has not paid me back. After 30 days I contacted them and was told they needed my IBAN for the refund (although when returning the car I had made sure it would be done directly to the card used for payment, which they confirmed), 15 days later still nothing and they keep telling me that a payment can take up to 15 days to appear on my account (but 15 days have already passed!!). Absolutely unreliable, I won`t rent with them again.
