Overall, I am happy with Halfords. I buy their own brand car oil, filters, wipers and light bulbs. Their fitting service is excellent and the labour costs are competitive relative to main dealers. Staff are helpful and competent. I try to avoid peak times for obvious reasons.

Purchased car battery early this year and had it fitted at Altrincham branch. Caused major electrical damage to my MC benz resulting in my car being sent back to Mercedes to be fixed. Yes Halfords insurance provided me with a hire car for three weeks but my car has not been the same since. I wrote to the ceo of Halfords by recorded delivery who has not had the courtesy to reply. The battery provided and installed by Halfords was removed by Mercedes as it was unfit and unsuitable for my car. It was replaced by a Mercedes battery. An apology from the ceo would have restored my confidence in Halfords but clearly customer satisfaction is not his priority.

Shockingly poor customer service and communications with this company - the UK's biggest retailer of bikes. I purchased a bike last Thursday and was told in their website it would be available to collect in store on the Saturday, two days later. I received a call from a rude member of staff who said that it wasn't in the store at all. I phoned up the customer service number only to be dumped back on the store to the same guy. I phoned them back again and got through to their call centre staff where I spoke to an extremely apologetic woman but she still could only ask the store what the issue was and got the same response from them. I was then promised it would be in store, built and ready for me today and I would receive a call. No such call ever came to me. I just phoned the store and cancelled the order. Avoid spending your money in this hellhole of a retailer and take your custom to somebody that actually values it. It isn't Halfords.

Have just visited the Folkestone store, where I was helped by Ed who made sure my Halford’s child car seat was fitted correctly. Much appreciated his help and professionalism. He is a credit to your business, and gives me confidence in buying products from you in the future.

so today I went to collect my new bike as I received a message it was ready. I had to wait and watch while some young emo girl tried to adjust the seat by forcing the nut the wrong way!.. after a few attempts and trying a different spanner I had to explain to her the correct way to undo a nut!.. This didn't fill me with any confidence so when I got home I had to check all the nuts n bolts, at which point I realised one of the reflectors was broken!!!... Its only a cheap bike, but even so... come on.. get the fxxxxxg basics right!!...

Worst service ever! 5 hours waiting to pass an MOT even if we had an appointment already booked. We arrived there at 8:30, they said it would take a couple of hours and would give a call when ready, at 11 nobody called so we went back assuming it would be done just to see the car was parked where we left it...then they said it would be ready at 12 but at the end we had to wait till 1:30

Employees attack and assault you beware! I recently went to try a bike for size medium or large before ordering online once in stock. I got permission to try a bike by a staff member then seconds later another employee got right close to me 60cm away and started shouting at me to get off the bike!? He started shouting louder to get everyone's attention?? As I have a medical condition/shielding I asked him to get back a number of times so I can get off the bike to stop him shouting/being abusive, he does'nt listen and carrys on so i had no choice but to push him back to make space. At which point a blonde haired employee with tattoos on her arms starts shouting assault assault and your disgusting! Then she calls the police! Other employees rush to the scene with aggressive and threatening body language. I asked for the employees name but they wouldnt provide it then they began forcing me out of the store bruising my arm in the process. Later after I decided to call the police they then said they were now going to drop the whole allegation of assault!? I honestly did nothing wrong and simply came to check out the bike frame size and I ended up getting attacked/assaulted by these paranoid employees. Halfords will take no responsibility for their out of control employees and they have no processes in place for social distancing within this store and quite possibly others. These employees are simply looking to take out their frustration on customers so please take note, avoid it if you can. I have made a statement to the police who are looking into this criminal matter which halfords is attempting to take no responsibility for! They attack you and then in this case unsuccessfully try to pin it on you. Stay safe people Covid is having unpredictable affects on people especially these lot at Hendon! Good bye and good riddance Hendon store...you are the weakest link!

Rear gear snapped of my Boardman Hybrid Pro a £1000 bike, which I was told was not under warranty. Over a month ago I took it in and was told they were busy so could not service until today but parts would be ordered when I first booked it in. I have just received a phone call informing me that the parts will not be available for another month. If this is indicative of Boardman Bikes or Halfords service don't touch either.

Horrendous customer service at Halfords. Bought a mountain bike end of May. It has had lots of problems. We took it back on numerous occasions but each time they just didn’t fix it properly. They are refusing a refund saying we damaged it ourselves!

I brought a crossfire 2 bike a year ago. Only used about 8 times for short runs. The other day the rear gear just snapped as i was out They say its not covered (unless i take out their extended warrenty). The halfords response is very poor and the quality of the bike leaves a lot to be desired. Not again.

Just a few weeks after buying a new bike from the Waterlooville store for our son for his birthday, we found the front wheel loose. We returned the bike to the store who kept it overnight to repair what they said was an issue with the front wheel. A day after collecting it, we then found the front brake disc bolts loose! I took the front wheel back into the store purely to show them, but refused to leave it with them as my trust had vanished by then... and because I value my son's life! They said they would report the problem to their head office, which suggested to me that they were trying to blame Carerra. Masses of Carerra bikes have been sold in the UK and I have been unable to find any other reports of this issue online. Hmmm. My advice is, please beware before trusting Halford's bike "mechanics".

The team at Halfords Crystal Peaks are so friendly and most helpful. I took my car in fo have Tyre Pressure checked after a warning msg on the Car. They sorted out the tyre pressure in a most speedy time. I recommend Halfords all the way. Thanks so much guys.

Booked a battery replacement for 8am - 12pm slot. Mechanic arrived at 11:55am with the wrong battery (not his fault ofcourse but an error from Halfords warehouse when loading) I then rebooked for 2 days later (Soonest slot they had) for the same a lot time 8am - 12pm. The mechanics (different from first visit) arrived AGAIN with the wrong battery. Surely Someone at Halfords had too much alcohol over the weekend! Thankfully the mechanics went to a local Halfords to get the correct battery and all was fitted by 12:45pm. I paid extra for an 8am - 12pm slot but I don’t see what for. The mechanics did their best anyway but Halfords do need to tighten their methods up. 2 stars!

Very poor experience and a very long saga which still continues. We bought 2 very expensive electric bikes which were due for delivery within 4 days (date of delivery was given at time of purchase). I waited in all day and they didn’t arrive. When I rang customer services they weren’t able to tell me when they would be delivered or by which courier either which was completely unhelpful. When they finally were delivered about 2 weeks later, the packaging was so poor that 1 bike arrived damaged. They wanted us to take it to local store (which is 30 miles away) but as it didn’t fit in our car my parents had to help us out here too. 3 days later the other bike had a battery fault and had to be returned this time by courier. Another day waiting in for a courier to collect the bike and they then refused To collect as the packing was ‘inadequate’- it was in the same packaging as it arrived in. Finally got the courier to take the bike with some persuasion the next day. I then waited in a 4th day to receive the new bike, which too arrived so badly packaged that the bottom of the box had fallen out and the courier had put all loose items into an Asda carrier bag! I hoped this would be the end to it, but in the process of all this Halfords had sent us an apology gift voucher which we used to buy a bike carrier (which is good) but the vouchers can only be used in store and the bike carrier only bought online, so I had to pay by card the full amount to have the store refund it and recharge the amount less the voucher in store. Having just checked my bank details I now realise that my online purchase was not refunded and they have taken instead a second payment in store for the same bike carrier, so I’m now left with this to sort out too. I have now overpaid by £269 as they have not refunded the money properly and only realised due to an overdue bank account. Unbelievably poor all round service.

Had an appointment for halfords to fit a new tyre urgently on my drive. Gave me an appointment slot from 4-8pm. The tech comes at 2.30pm to fit them when we were out. They didn’t leave any voice mail or pick up when I called them back. No one showed up at the scheduled time and I received an email saying the tech waited for 25 mins (way outside of the appointment time) and then left to do the next job. So now I’m left with no tyre and having to wait several days to get my money back to go and get a tyre from somewhere else. Extremely poor customer service. Don’t even know the meaning of appointments or common curtesy. Won’t be using again.
