Booking process was fine, however the cottage as not. The cottage was freezing, the getting (night storage) was nit adequate for the building it cane on during the night when we were in bed. It was also controlled by the owners with WIFI. There was a log burner which warmed the main room but we had soon used the one basket of free logs. I contacted the owner who said it depended on people's confirm levels how hot we wanted it. He told us to buy more logs. I believe a log burner in a cottage is more to make it cosy not to actually heat it. If it is too heat it logs should be provided FOC. I spoke to the owner again who said he would reimburse us for the logs...he didn't and didn't speak to us again. On the fourth day the heating didn't come on at all. The shower was also a problem I'm not fat, but have a 46" inch chest. I could just squeeze into the entrance was so small. Our week away was ruined by the heating. I wrote a review earlier but it was never published. Doubt I'd use Holuday Cottages again.

We left a day early as there was a mouse/ rat. As it was very loud, in the walls. We had very bad broken sleep for 3 nights so will not be returning.

Farmhouse and owner were wonderful. I can’t say the same of the agent though. We asked where we could find a good butchers, logs supplier and a few questions about the house. Their response? Look on the internet. Poor thoughtless service for a 2.7K spend.

We found everything from start to finish was straightforward and efficient, we also booked our holiday last year through Holiday Cottages and almost certainly will do so again next year.

Wonderful cottage second visit. Perfect location in beautiful Cartmel. Amazing Christmas week, ideal for a small family. We loved the fire and just chilling out.

Joke. Cottage in Pembrokeshire was freezing cold - dirty - blood stained bedding - key didn’t work in door - hornet’s hibernating in living room curtains - no welcome pack /info. Review not published by company as they leave bad reviews out.

My son in law booked us a 3 day holiday at the fat badger Bambourgh with this company . 1 day before our arrival the owner contacted him to say that this property now wasn’t available as the testing was broken and that he would swap to to an alternative property and give us an early check in and later check out (1pm entry and 12pm leave ) We arrived at the alternative which was the glass house in bamborough which was being cleaned ! The property wasn’t ready and we were asked to come back later as they weren’t ready for us and didn’t know an early check in had been allocated by the owner. We went back just after 2pm to find the accommodation was absolutely freezing cold and the heating wasn’t working correctly in that only 2 radiators where lukewarm on the first floor and the ground floor where cold . After several tries we got the owner was who very dismissive of this , saying it would warm in time, he told us to go to another property where we collected 2 small oil filled radiators and 2 small electric heaters , these would never of heated a property of this size up ! We stayed at the property for nearly 2 hours trying to sort this out with no heating in below 5c temperatures. We informed the owner that this was the case and we said we couldn’t stay there due to it being so cold the temperatures where do to drip to below 0c overnight. The heating was not working and this properly and the property was never going to get warm . The owner of this offered no solution other than if you wish go and book into a hotel for the night and come back tomorrow! Verbally he said he would issue a refund and then revoked this through holiday cottages . How would it be okay tomorrow when the heating wasn’t working ? This left us with no alternative at 4 pm on a Saturday to try and find somewhere to stay ! We were luck and found a reputable company that had availability and that had their heating on and that would take us at such short notice . We contacted holiday cottages and explained all the above on Saturday night , they said it was unacceptable and that a full refund should be given then lady my son in law spoke to said she would call back , she never did ! The next day we called again and explained again , they said they didn’t issue the refunds it was up to the owner and they would need to speak to him , After many calls Sunday and Monday the owner proposed a one day refund , how can this be acceptable when we never even stayed at the property . Holiday cottage’s have done nothing to support us at all My daughter is pregnant and I suffer with an auto immune disease and there was no way that accommodation was suitable with no heating . We will be seeking resolution to this through the channels available to us and except to receive a full refund and out of pocket costs and loss of pleasure costs for the 3 days we had to chase this , let alone stress and anxiety caused by this terrible company and owner. Do not book this cottage on any web site as the owner doesn’t adhere to his contractual obligations. Do not use this company holiday cottages as they do nothing to support and resolve any problems with bookings they wash their hand of it and leave you with no where to stay !!!

I wrote what I thought to be a fair review of the cottage we stayed in this year in the Brecon Beacons. We booked it because it was rated 5 stars by all who had been there (apparently) Whilst it wasn’t terrible we found it very dark, it had some cleanliness issues, and was not a luxury let as advertised, more a ‘rustic’ one. It had no view to the lovely garden, only through a door at the back of the house. We paid a lot as we thought we were paying for luxury for once. For half the price it would have been more acceptable ( but still disappointing) Clearly this company only publish positive reviews so you are unlikely to get honest opinions on which to base your decisions. When I made contact to ask where my review was, no one got in touch with me. Makes me very angry. All we want are honest reviews and decent companies. Hard to find in this day and age. Wouldn’t trust this company again.

I’m a seasoned traveler. Rented holiday homes across the uk over 35 years and takes a lot for me to complain because I know it’s not an easy business to manage. However, this crowd are con artists & a sham. Charged me full premium for an apartment with a balcony overlooking the sea but forgot to mention the balcony had been removed!! The apartment was very dusty which I complained about and sent pictures. Had emails from their “complaints dept” promising to look into and get back to me. A month later, nothing! I’m now suing them in small claims court for miss representation. Do not use.

We booked Somerset cottage in Ogmore by sea in August 2024. The cottage was REALLY dirty - filthy handrails, stairs, back corridor and we had to scrub the kitchen floor with a metal pan scrubber it was so bad. We contacted the company for a refund and to complain about the state of the property. They did not deal with the issue. Emails went unanswered. When we called, we were told the complaints manager would ring us back, but this never happened and we received no calls. We will NEVER book with this company again.
