Our second visit to Ikea, Lakeside, the first went relatively smoothly bought 4 kitchen cabinets which were ordered and paid for and packed on a trolley ready for our collection, we just had to wheel it to the car and load it. The second visit was awful, we had to return two of the cabinets as they, on reflection, were not what we required, the returns went well and dealt with extremely efficiently by the young man at the desk. Then we went for breakfast at the restaurant, it was very busy as it was a Sunday, how ever having received our food we were then kept waiting at the tills, one broke down leaving a long queue which grew by the minute so we left and joined another queue, only to have that till break down as well, finally we managed to pay but the place was so packed we had to search for a table and our food was stone cold by the time we ate. we had decided to buy a complete unit as a tv Bench? (at more than five times the original price) instead of the two units we originally had in mind, we couldn't find it but finally managed to find the item on the stores internet and an assistant listed the items needed, we asked if they could be collected and made ready for our departure but the staff in the payment section were so intransigent and insisted that we collect the items ourselves, they said the pay and collect facility was only available for kitchen cabinets and not for living room furniture, I told them we were both in our seventies but that apparently made no difference since they were a cash and carry store so I asked what was the difference between kitchen items and living room items and was told that the hinges sometimes went missing from kitchen cabinets so they collected the system was different for kitchen cabinets. I then said that I had retained the hanging rail previously purchased and wished to buy further brackets separately but again was told this was not possible unless I bought a complete Metod unit. I find this incredible that it is not possible to buy these individually as I am sure there must be instances when customers may lose or damage a bracket when putting a unit together and would need a replacement. So all in all not a satisfactory visit to the store and am so incensed and angry and feel that we were fob off because of our age and it must have been obvious to the staff that we had little idea of what we were talking about (sarcasm), therefore we will not be returning again for further purchases, which is a shame as the units are of good quality and after the first build i was looking forward to a lot more purchases in the future. One further observation, the unit we bought apparently is modulated (how I cant imagine as one unit without the others is entirely useless), however there are no indications about in which order the boxes should be opened and put together so it appears that the boxes (16 in number) have to opened randomly until you strike it lucky and find a bit that can be assembled first. ah well ill save that for a rainy day.

their delivery service is ABSOLUTELY AWFUL my order was supposed to come today between 9am & 3pm, its now 5pm and still nothing. they sent me an email saying my order is delayed and would be here before 5pm but clearly thats not happening. why is it so difficult for such an international company to get their sh*t together? its just a DELIVERY. i'm supposed to have someone assemble it too... lets see if im lucky enough to get that today. extremely frustrated with this service. DO NOT pay for delivery. I've wasted an entire day indoors on a weekend for nothing.

New building is not disability friendly for person with disability. The store is huge and has a lot of walking. Store does not provide driving cart. Ikea is my last option to go to.

Went and purchased items totalling £1000+ Realised that i could get a better deal elsewhere asked for refund within 24 hours of purchase and then encountered various obstacles and excuses why I couldn't get a refund immediately from ....it'll take 3-5 working days, 5-7 working days, 7-10 working days and 7-12 working days. I was told this is due to in store backlog, on line payment department backlog and the banks "holding the refund" in their "pending queue! Ikea please TRY and be honest and transparent inform customers that although we have a 365 returns policy , if you want your money refunded you' ll have to wait until we're good and ready !

customer service is the most horrendous excuse for customer service I have ever seen. Hours spent on hold, never correcting any problems no concerns or issues. All IKEA offers is an insincere apology and no correction to the problem at hand, delivery delayed weeks, with no communication. So disappointing, but not surprised that a corporation of this size treats their patrons as such. Don't waste your time with this company, paying more is not worth dealing with such a catastrophe.

Ordered a daubed and three small garbage cans online for our new home. Delivery was set up two weeks for order date. Day of delivery I get an email saying delivery is delayed and some one will call 24 hours before the delivery date to schedule a 4 hour window. Second time around, still no call less than 4 hours before delivery date. I have to plan to take time off of work to accommodate the 'you have to be home for delivery' policy they have. Now I'm on the phone, on hold for 43:02 min. Still nothing. I ordered a daybed from target online, and received it in about 3 days. Totally appalled by this experience, will not be shopping online with IKEA EVER AGAIN.

Twisted wood part on bed frame. Unable to assemble as dowel and screw holes don't line up. Complete run-around from Ikea in attempting to get replacement board. Don't order online from this company and don't assume my experience is the exception and not the rule. In talking to other people, defective furniture parts IS the rule.

Zero customer service. Called New Haven store customer service number several times and let it ring over 50 times - no answer! Called general number and was on hold with no answer for over 15 mins. An executive at Ikea or several need to go- they have squeezed customer service to a negative experience and don't realize their opportunity cost. At this rate, I give Ikea 5 years before they are out of business.

We waited more than 1.5 hours to pick up furniture. Next time I'll just buy from another vendor that doesn't charge shipping

If you live in Alaska don't believe a word they say about shipping time. They think we live in a third word country they will tell you one thing then you find they ship it by barge so three weeks min. Brandcruz.com this website is pretty new for me but still, they took only 2 weeks to arrive my furniture.

I needed help with changing the details of an online purchase with IKEA. I tried calling their customer service number and was on hold for 30 minutes with no response. I then tried emailing them through their website 3 times and each time I got a note that something went wrong and that they did not receive my email. I then tried calling again and was put on hold for an absurd amount of time, again with no answer. I tried calling a third and fourth time the next day with the same awful results. I will never purchase anything from IKEA again and I would not recommend them to anyone else as IKEA is impossible to get in touch with.

I bought a wardrobe and another item from Ikea> I paid for the delivery. we set up a date for the delivery>they told me it would be delivered between 7 am to 1 pm. I stayed at home it did not arrive. I called them to see what is happening. They told me that they forgot to load it in the van and they will bring it tomorrow between 7 am and 1 pm. Surprisingly it did not arrive. I contacted them gain they told me that they had forgotten to schedule it with the delivery firm. IT was so frustrating. they told me they would bring it tomorrow morning the next day. Next day they rang me and told me that unfortunately, they can not deliver it this morning but they would definitely deliver it this afternoon. I waited the whole day but still, the good did not arrive. I called them again and they told me that they do not know what has happened to the good and they have to search for it and let me know. As a result of this, I have lost lots of time and money. Can I take them to court for compensation?

I used to love IKEA. I won't shop there again. WORST customer service I've ever experienced. Can't get through to anyone over the phone, takes them forever to answer emails (and when they do, they keep it vague and unhelpful) and offered me a measly $30 refund due to shipping problems. They need to take a customer service class from Amazon or even Chik-fil-A for that matter...

2 MATTRESSES IN 10 YEARS, HASSELBACK AND HAMNVIK. THE LATEX LAYER WILL GIVE UP AFTER A FEW MONTHS AND IKEA WILL TELL YOU IT IS NOT COVERED BY GUARANTEE. SO THE LAYER YOU SLEEP ON IS NOT COVERED!!!!!!!! UAUAL BIG BUSINESS PRACTICE OF PROMISES THAT WON'T BE DELIVERED. MY ADVISE IS TO AVOID ALL IKEA MATTRESSES.

I ordered two chairs, a table and rug online for my son's apartment across country. Ikea said they were delivered . They were not. . Only the rug and table arrived. It is impossible to get in touch with Ikea, absolutely impossible. The email option on the website doesn't work; I waited for 30 minutes on the phone and then had to go to a meeting. The customer service is abominable. If you are in the UK you can get them using a chat function. Not here. My only option is to context the charge on my credit card bill.

Online order delayed twice, order was delivered incorrectly. Impossible to get thru to customer service for online issues, average hold time is about 50 minutes and nobody ever answers. When speaking with someone in a different department they are helpful but you will always be transferred back to this same extension to where nobody answers. This is the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. You can not return the incorrect items to the store if they were purchased online---so what do I do with 5 tables I did not order, how do I get the items I did order if I can't speak to anybody. These issues start at the top of the company and management. I have waited on the phone for a total of 1 hour 45 minutes between 3 different calls with nobody answering. Once I get this corrected it will be the last purchase I make with Ikea and recommend not dealing with this company.

Ikea furniture still reeks of chemical outgassing. After having the components for a week and airing them out both outside in the sun and in the garage on rainy days, it is still causing me headaches, burning in my mouth, throat, nose eyes and ears, and causing me to have asthma symptoms. This company is far from being ecologically sound.

I bought a bedframe from Ikea and it has been an absolute nightmare. As I have read through a lot of these reviews I realize I am not alone, however, my frustration is heightened by the fact that I am currentlt 8 months pregnant with no supportive bed and have been sleeping on our sleeper sofa. I digress. From the beginning of this ordeal there have been nothing but problems. What started off to be a seemingly easy return is not a week and a half in without any unforeseeable resolution. Daisa was my CSR the first time I called and stated that I had two options. I could return the frame or schedule pickup. We live 2.5 hours from a store so pick up was most convenient. Daisa stated I would have my shipping labels the next day and I would get a phonecall from the pickup team to schedule. No problem. The next day came and nothing. I called IKEA back only to find out Daisa had scheduled FEDEX pickup for the slats but no pickup order was in for the bed itself. The next lady put that through. I got a call from STI the next day and said theyd be in town to pick up between 11 and 3. Told them my hubby doesnt get off work until 2. They said that wouldnt work EVEN THOUGH they said theyd be in town until 3. They called again with the same hours. Told them it wouldnt work. Called again this time with 12 to 4. I told thdm again after 230 pm. AGAIN THE SAID THAT WOULDNT WORK. Do you not provide weekend or late evening pickups for your customers?! I cant be given a refund unless IKEA has the actual piece of furniture. Its almost like they have purposely set it up this way to discourage people from returning their faulty merchandise. I will never buy anything from IKEA out of my pocket again. This has been the most aggravating and frustrating customer service experience ever.
