Very poor customer service. The salesman ran away when he sees a customer needing help. Shouted him down, ordered signed some fine print in order to have it delivered and installed. Installers did a poor job, installed so the units did not line up. Installer said it was my floor, he left, I took a level to my floor, the floor was exactly level. I realized then that the installer lied to me. Calling IKEA is a nightmare, as you will be on hold 20 minutes minimum. I was transferred several times with 1 1/2 hour on phone. The units cannot be cut to fit my baseboard, so if your baseboard is night than 3", don't have them install, because it won't fit together. This should be told verbally upfront at purchase! Returning is an option with a loss of delivery and picking fees. And then they wanted more money to pick it up again! Not my fault! Very poor company!

Bad experience, I bought a big wardrobe with a mirror door so was super heavy. After i and my wife have installed it , when we opened the doors the whole wardrobe fall down on us , so my wife got hurt, it was about to kill my two years daughter. The funny that was a hardware to attached to the wall without screws. The package had everything beside the most important part which is the safety. I called customer service to tell them about what happened , then they did send me the same hardware with noooo screws again. Very very poor customer service. Never again buying anything from ikea store .

The delivery of our order (our new, urgently-needed wardrobe) was originally due on 19 September between 12:30 pm and 4:30 pm. An assembly (performed by a third party, but arranged for by IKEA) was scheduled for the next day. The delivery was delayed with a text giving no explanation whatsoever, just "your IKEA order is now set for delivery on 21 Sep." I called demanding an explanation and I was told there was a warehouse issue. That's fair enough, but 1) IKEA didn't call me me to agree on a suitable new delivery date, 2) IKEA didn't bother contacting the assembly company - and suggested I had to do it! After a surreal conversation with one of their representatives, I managed to reschedule a delivery for yesterday (Saturday 23) and an assembly for today (Sunday 24). I even got a text confirming the delivery for Saturday 23. But they didn't show up. Exactly, a delivery NO-SHOW! I called them demanding an explanation and a kind, but completely clueless woman told me the order was "lost". I managed to reschedule for Tuesday 26 but 1) they didn't tell me the time they will come (not even morning/afternoon/evening); 2) it is a very inconvenient day for me - as my wife will need to stay home and she had planned otherwise; 3) it is unclear to me whether the assembly company was promptly informed or not, and when exactly they will come to build the wardrobe. This is ludicrous and I urge you not to bother with these clueless and incompetent bunch. By the way, the idea of offering "assembly service" but in fact relying on a third party coming on some day after the delivery is silly, as it makes scheduling and rescheduling a nightmare, obviously. These people simply aren't capable of running this business.

Everything is wrong with IKEA. - Poor customer service (long wait time) - Takes 10 - 30 min to get a representative to start talking to you - Takes 1 hour to figure out what's wrong with your order - Doesn't tell you about the case number you can refer to - Doesn't send you confirmation number for order - Wants you to travel in store when they can't solve your problem because they don't know what's going on - Inconsistent system information - Unhelpful employees - Employees that don't know their company policy nor how to actually assemble/fix stuff from the store In short, this company don't know what they are doing and hence their poor customer service. Their only good points would be their cheaper prices as it is a chain store. However, aside from what they have as a catalog, the shipping company and etc don't have any relationship with the company itself. Whatever the company is doing, they can only satisfy their unsatisfied customers with gift cards they refund back to the customers. They aren't able to provide any other helpful resources nor information they have on hand because they don't have anything. If it wasn't for that I had already order stuff there and need to wait for the remaining stuff to be delivered to me, I wouldn't still be having correlations with this company. So much disappointment and discontent. I have never had to get so frustrated or emotional over stuff. Money is no longer the problem but instead how much time they are wasting with the customer service. Don't ever order anything where you require delivery or having to come in contact with their employees.

I ordered an item on 9/2/17 and received an email stating my lamp would arrive on 9/13/17. I called when my lamp didn't arrive and was told that it had been back ordered. The new delivery date would be 9/21/17 and it would be delivered by FedEx. I call again on 9/21/17 for a tracking number and they stated that the date they had given me was just a preliminary date and that the product had not yet been received by FedEx. Once it's received, a tracking number will be generated and should arrive by 10/2/17. If I knew that it would have taken a month to get this lamp, I would've paid more and bought it from a different source.

I placed an order a online order on the 31Aug through Ikea.ca. The info provided at that time says delivery for 13Sep. This is great! I am leaving to go away for the 22Sep. Shouldnt be a problem at all....OH BUT WAIT!! Now 2 weeks later my items have not even shipped, apparently its coming from the states and there is no guarantee when I might see it. Oh ya my packages can be left on my door step with no signature while I am gone on holidays for 2 weeks. What are the chances that it is sitting there when I return?? Oh ya I can cancel but I wont get my shipping charges back on the items even though they havent even left the warehouse in the USA. NO REAL SUPPORT HERE FROM YOUR SUPPORT TEAM. TOTALLY UNIMPRESSED WITH MY FIRST ONLINE SHIPMENT FROM IKEA...PROBABLY MY LAST UNLESS THIS HAS A HAPPY ENDING

We had dinner there, ordered 4 entrees, 2 desserts and 1 bag of Swedish fish. Checked out and ate our dinner, tossed the receipt when returned the tray. We thought the Swedish fish was charged in restaurant. When checked out our stuff 2 hours late, the checkout clerk asked if we had paid for the Swedish fish, we said yes we did, but she looked like "really ". My girls and i all thought we were charged at restaurant. She asked us to provide receipt. Unfortunately, i tossed as i always did. Since I couldn't provide receipt, i didnt want to wast my time argue, i asked her to go ahead and charge it. If a food item was placed in restaurant and we had a bag as we went through the line and paid for our meal, is it unreasonable we assume we paid for it. We opened it and started to eat the candy after we finish our meal, if we had finish the candy during a 2 hour shopping there, the company would loose money!

I drove 1 hour to their store to buy an item that their website said was in stock. Could not find the item so I asked somebody to help me locate it. They said that they didn't have it in stock. I went home and checked online again thinking I had made a mistake. Their online site again said that they had 7 in stock at my store. I called customer service who also confirmed on their computer system that the item was in stock. I asked them to call the store to check and when they did the store said that they didn't have any in stock. I asked them to ship me one from their online store and waive the shipping charge since I drove all the way out there only to find that their system was incorrectly stating that the item was in stock. They refused to do so. I WILL NEVER SHOP AT IKEA AGAIN.

If I could I would give a minus 5 star rating but that's not possible. I have had two failed deliveries, now waiting on a third. Have had to re-arrange assembly and stay in for the third Saturday in a row. My order is over £1500, so you would assume that they would want to give a better standard of service. However ikea lakeside have failed as they have a glitch (basically my items were not there when the delivery driver went to load the vehicle ) this is utterly disgraceful and the compensation offered is an insult. I work in a customer service industry and I would never dream or envisage letting a clustomer down, let alone do it twice. I have said that I want to speak to a senior supervisor let's see how long that will take as a previous email went unanswered until I called.

"I ordered a couple of office organizers online, because I find the in-store shopping experience somewhat nightmarish. Despite the fact that it was going to take 2 weeks to get them and that shipping was pretty expensive, I decided the items were exactly what I wanted, so I went ahead with the order. My order didn't even ship until a couple of days AFTER it was to arrive. Customer Service is kind of a joke: you're on hold forever, or you can send an email that--if it even goes through--they will try to get around to in the next 5 days. Then FedEx (whose tracking site I had to find, because the link I was sent was to their general, worldwide site) said my items were to arrive this past Saturday. They didn't. So now, with the holiday weekend, it'll be OVER THREE WEEKS AT LEAST until I get my items--and who knows what kind of condition it'll be in? Overall, this has been an extremely poor experience. IKEA has made no attempt to make any of it right. I do not recommend ordering from them."

After being told we had to get our desk and table from the separate Ikea warehouse around the corner in warrington, we had to wait a further hour for someone to bring the items out to us, and then to be told that one of the items was infact at the original shop. Absolute joke, will not bother buying from Ikea again.

""Very unreliable. The shipment didn't arrive on the stated/promised day - despite I got a message from IKEA some days beforehand that the items have been shipped to the transportation company. The customer service at IKEA wasn't very friendly nor competent. They didn't really care. Just like "where is the problem? The stuff will arrive a bit later. So what..." Just a big disappointment.

DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING ONLINE FROM IKEA!!!! Terrible shipping and horrible customer service! It's ridiculous! I placed my order on August 19th, waiting for 11 days the package finally came, yet the most important (and heaviest) part of the order, an white desk was missing. I attempted to call IKEA for the issue and was held for 25min before anyone answered. The person asked for Order ID. I found it within 5sec and was just about to announce. I haven't event finished the number, she asked me to hold. And she put down the phone. Followed by another 15min wait. This pattern repeated over and over again. And every time she picked up the phone she only asked about one thing and she put it down again. The whole call was over an hour but the time that was actually on the phone was less than 3min, and accumulatively. I didnt even get the chance to ask why the heck it took so long for her to check my information, from that one order that I had! I wondered if she was picking up several phone calls at the same time, and said one sentence for each call once before she put it down to answer another one so that the customers felt like their calls were somewhat answered. And in the end she told me the desk would arrive another 10 days later - isn't that ridiculous? 3 hour drive of distance takes 20 days to deliver something??? - I asked for cancellation for that part of the order. I got impatient when she said she could refund the desk but NOT that part of the shipping. (Really? The only thing that was heavy in my order was the desk) She got impatient too!! She was almost yelling at me, saying "I said ONE MOMENT please." I can't believe a global renown furniture store like IKEA can have customer service like this. It's just a terrible, terrible experience. I will never order from IKEA.com again!!!

When delivery guys showed up they had half my order. No one informed me that half my couch was damaged in warehouse and delivery drivers showed up with 1 or 2 boxes in the complete set. They just asked if i was contacted - i was not! They asked if i just wanted one box and then i could contact ikea to get the other delivered - i said no because i would have to sign off that i received the full set! Had to wait on hold for 23 minutes and Ikea rep (who was nice) said they were having technical difficulties and would have to call me back...still waiting as I type. I never right reviews but what a shit experience...shouldve stuck with Amazon.

ikea, apparently, thinks they're too big and successful to care about true, quality customer service. i bought 4 barstools online and it said i had to be home on a saturday between 9am and 5pm so we stayed home and waited for the delivery. at about 4:30pm, we opened the front door and found that the barstools had been delivered, in boxes, and they were MAILED to us. so, i wrote ikea an email telling them about my dissatisfaction about that mixup and all they wrote back to me was - it doesn't work that way. no sorries, no give-a-crap attitude, just deny that this happened to me. ridiculous! then, i open the barstools and put one together. i have my 84 year old mother sit in it and it collapsed 1/2 way! and it had nothing to do with me putting it together. it was the stool itself! so, i call ikea and wait the 45 minutes for someone to get on the line (they preface your extremely long wait on the phone by saying that they are very, very busy because their catalogue just came out so, tough luck for you and your wait... like that is a good excuse to be shitty to your customers and have them wait on the phone for 45 minutes). when the chick gets on the phone, she tells me that i have to pay $50-some to have the barstools picked up. when i tell her about the issue and advise her that i should not have to pay for damaged items, she tells me that i have to have a picture to email her right then and there for them to approve before they will pick up the barstools. but then... they would just replace them with new ones. well, i don't trust the quality of them so why would i want new ones? i want them returned because they are crap and i should not have to pay for them! so, she basically says - tough luck - and she refused to set up a pickup date until i can email her something to judge. so, i told her to just set up the pickup date because i'm not going to call back and wait another 45 minutes just to get the shaft again. i told her i'll pay the $50-some and then take it up with them later. so, she gives me another number that i have to call to pay the money and then, and only then, will they pick up the junk that they sold me. so, i call the number and have to go through 3 different cashiers because they can't get their shit together. then, finally, when i'm able to pay one of them, they tell me that the delivery/pickup people will call me in a few days to set up the pickup! what the heck?? all these hoops this company makes ME do because of THEIR crappy customer service and products is obviously from their overly high opinion of themselves. there are SO many other choices out there for furniture and SO many companies out there who want people's business, so that's where i'm headed and i'm taking anyone and everyone who will listen and hear about this cluster with me!

My elderly mother has a home in the country, not close to any big cities. We used IKEA online to order a kitchen item for a rental unit. This item was not shipped in a timely manner and we were unable to speak with anyone at their customer service toll-free number. The hold was extremely long, +2 hours when we did finally speak with someone. We were informed that item could not be canceled as it was already waiting for delivery. This item was not shipped out for at least another 3 days. When we did receive the delivery, item was damaged. The item was not packaged properly for Fedex to deliver it undamaged. Again a 2 + hour hold on the phone revealed no response or answer. We had to drive 2 hours to the local IKEA to return item and 2 hours back. The IKEA store would not refund the delivery charge and said we had to receive that from IKEA online. After that, we gave up and vowed never to deal with IKEA online again!
