DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING ONLINE FROM IKEA!!!! Terrible shipping and horrible customer service! It's ridiculous! I placed my order on August 19th, waiting for 11 days the package finally came, yet the most important (and heaviest) part of the order, an white desk was missing. I attempted to call IKEA for the issue and was held for 25min before anyone answered. The person asked for Order ID. I found it within 5sec and was just about to announce. I haven't event finished the number, she asked me to hold. And she put down the phone. Followed by another 15min wait. This pattern repeated over and over again. And every time she picked up the phone she only asked about one thing and she put it down again. The whole call was over an hour but the time that was actually on the phone was less than 3min, and accumulatively. I didnt even get the chance to ask why the heck it took so long for her to check my information, from that one order that I had! I wondered if she was picking up several phone calls at the same time, and said one sentence for each call once before she put it down to answer another one so that the customers felt like their calls were somewhat answered. And in the end she told me the desk would arrive another 10 days later - isn't that ridiculous? 3 hour drive of distance takes 20 days to deliver something??? - I asked for cancellation for that part of the order. I got impatient when she said she could refund the desk but NOT that part of the shipping. (Really? The only thing that was heavy in my order was the desk) She got impatient too!! She was almost yelling at me, saying "I said ONE MOMENT please." I can't believe a global renown furniture store like IKEA can have customer service like this. It's just a terrible, terrible experience. I will never order from IKEA.com again!!!

When delivery guys showed up they had half my order. No one informed me that half my couch was damaged in warehouse and delivery drivers showed up with 1 or 2 boxes in the complete set. They just asked if i was contacted - i was not! They asked if i just wanted one box and then i could contact ikea to get the other delivered - i said no because i would have to sign off that i received the full set! Had to wait on hold for 23 minutes and Ikea rep (who was nice) said they were having technical difficulties and would have to call me back...still waiting as I type. I never right reviews but what a shit experience...shouldve stuck with Amazon.

ikea, apparently, thinks they're too big and successful to care about true, quality customer service. i bought 4 barstools online and it said i had to be home on a saturday between 9am and 5pm so we stayed home and waited for the delivery. at about 4:30pm, we opened the front door and found that the barstools had been delivered, in boxes, and they were MAILED to us. so, i wrote ikea an email telling them about my dissatisfaction about that mixup and all they wrote back to me was - it doesn't work that way. no sorries, no give-a-crap attitude, just deny that this happened to me. ridiculous! then, i open the barstools and put one together. i have my 84 year old mother sit in it and it collapsed 1/2 way! and it had nothing to do with me putting it together. it was the stool itself! so, i call ikea and wait the 45 minutes for someone to get on the line (they preface your extremely long wait on the phone by saying that they are very, very busy because their catalogue just came out so, tough luck for you and your wait... like that is a good excuse to be shitty to your customers and have them wait on the phone for 45 minutes). when the chick gets on the phone, she tells me that i have to pay $50-some to have the barstools picked up. when i tell her about the issue and advise her that i should not have to pay for damaged items, she tells me that i have to have a picture to email her right then and there for them to approve before they will pick up the barstools. but then... they would just replace them with new ones. well, i don't trust the quality of them so why would i want new ones? i want them returned because they are crap and i should not have to pay for them! so, she basically says - tough luck - and she refused to set up a pickup date until i can email her something to judge. so, i told her to just set up the pickup date because i'm not going to call back and wait another 45 minutes just to get the shaft again. i told her i'll pay the $50-some and then take it up with them later. so, she gives me another number that i have to call to pay the money and then, and only then, will they pick up the junk that they sold me. so, i call the number and have to go through 3 different cashiers because they can't get their shit together. then, finally, when i'm able to pay one of them, they tell me that the delivery/pickup people will call me in a few days to set up the pickup! what the heck?? all these hoops this company makes ME do because of THEIR crappy customer service and products is obviously from their overly high opinion of themselves. there are SO many other choices out there for furniture and SO many companies out there who want people's business, so that's where i'm headed and i'm taking anyone and everyone who will listen and hear about this cluster with me!

If you purchase an item from from IKEA that requires assembly, good luck! The instructions are not all that clear and they appear to have been written to confuse rather than help you. I will never purchase another item from IKEA that requires assembly.

Had to go in store to order same day delivery (seems a bit silly, wish you could do this online). Due to the in store workers not inputting the order before the cut off time (despite ordering and paying 3 hours prior to the cut off time), the order never arrived and we were never told when it would actually turn up. Very frustrating, but after explaining why it was so important and why we were so angry and disappointed (the trek for an hour and a half to the store, no furniture in our flat at all, the trek back, multiple assurances it would be delivered in time, etc etc etc) they arranged delivery next day and gave us a £30 voucher to refund the delivery charge for the issue. Very happy with the order (despite how long it took to get here!)

Ordered 5 piece set for bedroom July 11, 2017. Delivery finally arrived 2 weeks later than the anticipated date they said. Only 15 of the 17 boxes were delivered, could not finish the storage bed frame unit. After 1.5 hours on hold, they said they would ship out missing items and I would have the end of the week. 2 weeks later I called IKEA again (on hold for a little over an hour), said there was a delay in shipping out, should be there the next week. The next week I called the shipping company (phone # from my previous shipping sheet). They had not yet received the missing items. It is now August 22. I have not heard from either IKEA or the shipping company. This was after paying $300 for shipping. Nearest store is over 2 hours away. I can't believe the horrible customer service. I like the items after assembly but I don't think I would buy from them again or recommend them to friends.

Had a VERY bad delivery experience. North American Logistics, contracted by Ikea, made a near-zero effort "attempt" at delivery, claiming that a non-existent gate prevented them from delivering...without even calling me to find out how to get to me. Complete incompetence. HOWEVER......IKEA customer service was OUTSTANDING in handling my issue. The representative made sure I had written confirmation from NAL for the next-day delivery and refunded my delivery fee. NAL gets -1 star and IKEA gets 5 stars, for a total of 4 stars. Bottom line: IKEA should dump North American Logistics immediately and find a better shipping provider. NAL is tarnishing the reputation of a company I have patronized for many years.

My elderly mother has a home in the country, not close to any big cities. We used IKEA online to order a kitchen item for a rental unit. This item was not shipped in a timely manner and we were unable to speak with anyone at their customer service toll-free number. The hold was extremely long, +2 hours when we did finally speak with someone. We were informed that item could not be canceled as it was already waiting for delivery. This item was not shipped out for at least another 3 days. When we did receive the delivery, item was damaged. The item was not packaged properly for Fedex to deliver it undamaged. Again a 2 + hour hold on the phone revealed no response or answer. We had to drive 2 hours to the local IKEA to return item and 2 hours back. The IKEA store would not refund the delivery charge and said we had to receive that from IKEA online. After that, we gave up and vowed never to deal with IKEA online again!

ABYSMAL!!!! One word - HORRIFIC!!!! My pregnant future daughter-in law sat on the floor of her unfurnished home for 8hrs awaiting her £900 delivery. Apparently the vehicle on its 50min route was stuck in congestion, nothing reported on traffic news. Delivery rearranged for today, driver ran out of minutes. By the way, they start their deliveries from the furthest distance, meaning they carry excess weight increasing fuel costs to customers. i spoke to a manager & explained i was now dealing with the complaint on behalf of my son & his fiancee as she is not in the position of knowledge that i am, having ran an haulage company & teaching retail management & customer service skills. I was informed on thursday, friday & today that i would receive a call on sunday. Today i have been told i am not allowed to because i am not the account holder??? They knew that & have agreed they have put my number to be called tomorrow. Would never shop here again! Edit

There is not a single thing, there are several issues with ikea and there furniture 1. The information provided with large furnitures is not enough 2. The furniture comes with parts those if you by mistake attached wrong place then you have to through it and buy the other expensive one. 3. Ikea furniture is one time assembly furniture, once you assembled then you can not dismantle. If you try then everything will be useless. So its a fully wastage of money. 4. The assembling all the parts need lots of patience, time and use of your full of the brain. 5. If you are not comfortable any technical assembling, then do not buy since you can not return the ikea stuff 6. Ikea delivery sucks. The illiterate people will deliver your stuff and if they count it wrong then its a nightmare to get those stuff from ikea using there customer service. 7. To get customer service, you have to wait on the phone not less than 30 min. They will force you indirectly to listen there all ikea stuff. 8. I spent $4000 on kitchen furniture and ended up to through about $2000 stuff in the garbage due to incomplete delivery, certain things were beyond my understanding because of complicated guide book was provided. I realized that better to pay extra $2000 to local shop and get everything what you like. If you are middle class and has a limited budget then dont buy anything from ikea otherwise you will also end up writing such review.

Ikea Smaklig induction hob. We wanted to replace a broken ceramic hob, a chip on edge of glass slowly spread across whole hob. We decided to investigate induction hobs and chose an Ikea Smaklig induction hob. We have had it for around 6 months and I have become a bore wanting to tell anyone how wonderful it is. Induction is quicker to heat up (compares well with electric kettle) and stops heating instantly when you switch off. Very much easier to clean than ceramic since hob doesn't heat up just gets warm from the saucepan. Induction hobs are expensive yet the Smaklig hob is relatively cheap causing some concern, but it has 5 year warranty and is made in Germany. The Smaklig hob has separate controls for each of the 4 heating areas unlike many more expensive hobs. Two disadvantages, you need induction compatible pans and you can become a bit of a bore - I am told this wears off after 12 months.

Ok world, you should know, and tell all your friends. We saved up for a mattress and at IKEA we asked about their mattress return policy. This is because my husbands back is not great on certain mattresses. The salesman led us to believe that if we purchased a mattress we could try it out for 90 days and return it if it didn't work. That was the extent of what he explained to us even though we asked him thorough questions. That is a standard policy for many mattress companies. After one night we both knew quickly that there was as no way our backs would adjust and so we returned the mattress. We were a little surprised when they would only give us a gift card but figured we could try another mattress and if that didn't work maybe buy a chair. We needed one anyway. Well after a couple nights that second mattress also put us both in pain. So we went to return it. Then and only then did customer service tell us that they won't return a second mattress and that their new policy (instated at some point in the 8 days we had exchanged the first mattress) would not allow any exchanges. I was frustrated that in no way does the store, return policy or salespeople make this clear. I even had an online chat with customer service and asked about the return policy on mattresses. The quote she gave me also did not make it clear that only the first mattress may be returned and only exchanged for a mattress that then cannot be returned. This is very different from the policies of most mattress suppliers which usually have some sort of 90 da trial offering a full refund. Any good mattress advisor will say to always and only go with a company that offers a trial and full refund. IKEA also was not clear and a bit deceptive in their way of stating their information. It came across that their policy is like most suppliers but it is not. I just thought if I can save anyone else making this mistake I would post this online as somehow, even after asking them personally, they managed to avoid answering fully until it was too late and then they simply refused. Personally I wouldn't buy a mattress from a company that does not offer a full refund in a 90 day trial as that is pretty standard now. I could understand if you are buying a mattress that you have already slept on and know you like, or a simple foam mattress for a child's room or guest room. But if you want a decent mattress that helps you sleep well and you want the freedom to trial it I wouldn't go with IKEA at all. Once you spend the money you are locked in and that money will never be returned to you.

They have the worst customer support, and their customer supports have no customer service in mine, but only try to push all the responsibilities to the customer to rip off the customers. I ordered the products (Coffee table, side table, etc.) from Canadian website, and they only gives me a single shipping window option from 9AM to 9PM. And they gave me shorter window only day before the delivery date. The shorten window, they gave me on previous day of delivery, was 3PM to 7PM which is unacceptable by my building manager. (My building manager doesn't allow the delivery after 4:30PM) So I called to request if they will be able to deliver before 4:30PM or I have to reschedule. IKEA said they will request it. On the delivery date, the delivery was not coming 3:45PM, so I called to make sure the delivery is on time. The customer support just threw out the number to the delivery company as they don't even care. I called the delivery company but the operator said he is going to call the driver and put me on hold over 10 minutes and never got back. As they never came till 4:30PM, I called IKEA to reschedule and they charged me another $49 for reschedule where I did nothing wrong but tried my best to delivery to work out. I called IKEA to get help or some waive as I thought this is little bit unfair to put every responsibility and charges on me. And their customer support is arguing that my request was just request not a promise, and tries to teach me about what the fairness is. From that time, I just gave up talking to them. It was just waste of time like talking to the wall. Their customer support is not there to help customer. They are only there to defend the company and push every responsibilities to the customer and rip off every part of you. The WORST Experience EVER and never buying anything from IKEA ever again!

Do NOT buy anything online for delivery. Waited in all morning, no driver arrived but we received a text stating our order had been delivered!! Phoned IKEA apparently Driver couldn't find address! IKEA has delivered to this address on numerous occasions so it sits on their sat nav system- just a lazy driver who couldn't be bothered on a Sunday to deliver. Heartbroken 4 years old no new bed etc., had arranged for her old cot bed to picked up this morning so no bed for 4 yrs old to sleep in tonight. IKEA could only deliver in 5 days time or maybe at a push tomorrow but IKEA couldn't definitely confirm that; I would have to wait a couple of hours for the next phone call....... We WILL NOT ever purchase from IKEA again. Off to buy a bed from John Lewis their customer service can never be faulted. They care about their customers.
