I thought she/he made some very good points, especially regarding clarifying the main goals with both the protagonist and antagonist as these develop through the story. The earlier drafts were a bit dialogue-heavy and I think in my haste to correct this some of Henri's goal definition got lost eg there was a line in the first act which I removed in consultation with the director 'as soon as I inherit my shares there will be big changes at Kingdom'. So her points are fair and fairly easy to work up. I also agree that his psychologkcal conflict can be explored more, especially in relation to the'vision'. I will certainly do this. The ghost originally talked and we thought it was all a bit scooby-do so we lost the dialogue here but she's given me some good ideas to show Henri's madness more. Where I take slight issue with the report is in her summation that the plot's too descriptive. She makes the point on several occasions that its visual and the pace is fast and supported by punchy action sequences and some witty dialogue so to summarise that there is too much expo is many of the relationships seems contradictory. I do agree that the corruption plot development can be shown more and maybe told less but apart from that, most of the relationships are developed through action. On the corruption development, expo can be useful sometimes to move things along with brevity and I didnt want to get caught up in all the detail of how money passes through accounts electronically. The secret account is basically a mcguffin so I want to paint the picture with very broad brushstrokes. Thereis a place for exposition if it can be relayed in the context of action and so I do not feel this is as much of a problwm as she makes out. However, if I'm showing him as more active then we can overcome a lot of this anyway. The script was originally based on hamlet and i'm glad this wasn't picked up on in the report as I've been moving it away from that. But it does help explain why Henri is perhaps al ittle passive in the 2nd act. Blame it on the Hamlet overhang! I also inderstand her point about the WAG stereotypes. This is difficult to overcome without a lot of subversion as you have to deal with audience expectations to a degree, especially in satire. However, I am going to make Gabrielle a bit more switched on amd elsewhere do the opposite and make Wagdom even more OTT. She misreads the Henri/Jessica arc, its not about materialism. Essentially, what draws thwm to gether is that they have their own private world they create together as evidenced by their opening exchange which prorects them from 'planet football' and the public glare. This is then torn apart by Henri's feelings of madness and isolation and the fact he no longer feels he can trust anyone. To get back together both of them need to come to terms with the world they inhabit. Henri does this by challenging Lord and saving the club. She does it by giving up the band. Of this isn't coming across well enough though I will do more work to clarify. The car he gives up is symbolic of the glitzy life he is prepared to give up for her at the end. Finally, I have to say I don'tagree with her summation of the ending.Henri does save the club at some cost to himself. He saves it because it doesn't go bust and survives the scandal and can now renew itself (symbolised by George) rather than be obliterated in the fall out. Also, there is essential expo in the resolurion scene because that is the purpose of a resolution scene, to tie up thw loose ends. Therefore the radio dialogue is useful because it quickly outlines some of what has happened in the intervening period. All in though, some very useful points and I've got a lot of ideas springing from the report to help me build on what's there.

The report on my script arrived in time and the consultant even went slightly above-and-beyond the call of duty, delivering additional pages of analysis to those promised. The comments were very helpful and I managed to improve my script considerably. Though the rating page was missing, I didn't get a 'pass', so that was good news.

Highly detailed, honest report of my script. Delivered on time, and at length. The reviewer spent a great deal of effort highlighting issues with my work, although I had hoped it would have scored better I can understand why the apsects of plot, dialgoue and my character did not work for the reviewer. It was insightful, honest feedback, and the explanation and reason behind why the various plot lines and characters failed was logical and now much clearer to see as a writer, from the readers perspective. The reviewer also spent additonal time outlining how the script could be improved which was most useful. Think I'll stick to the day job. Writing a compelling script is NOT easy!

I was hugely impressed with the thought that went into the feedback. I can see what the flaws are and I feel inspired to make the changes. I always got a sense that the script consultant was on my side, even when pointing out what wasn't working in the script. I would recommend this service.

I did the Effective Script Reading course recently and was really impressed with the detailed information they provided as to how to assess scripts. Their tips on how to get work as a script reader were invaluable. I would highly recommend it. Joe Solomon

This review, impartial and well informed, helped me avoid spending many months writing a script that COULD have succeeded if only its author had commissioned this review! It got straight to the glaring points, both in terms of commerciality and plot. Fantastic. Olly

This course was really effective for anyone interested in developing their skills as a script reader. Not only does it cover the basic elements of a script report in a good amount of detail, it also focuses on the industry itself and where a script reader sits within the world of production and development. The pre and post course assignments are also very useful and a great way to showcase what you have learnt on the day. I would definitely recommend.

This was my first attempt at a screenplay and was looking for guidance about whether I was heading in the right direction. The detail of the report pinpointed the flaws and development areas I need to work on. I especially felt the page numbering and quotations from my screenplay within the report supported the analysis and helped me understand. The delivery of the report was 4 days ahead of advised deadline and I can't fault any of Industrial Scripts services. Thanks for the great feedback. Will use again!

I am very pleased with the analysis I received using the Idea Screening Service. The report arrived on time, in a little over two weeks. I am brand new to screenwriting and this was extremely helpful for me in getting started. The feedback suggested that I had a potentially engaging story, but a major ingredient was lacking (newbie mistake). I was glad to learn this and have revised my story to add the missing elements. The points were empathetic and well supported. The reviewers also gave me some suggestions, which were helpful. Having never been reviewed before, I can’t say how this service compares to any others. However, I am very happy with it. It helped me propel my project forward and I would definitely use this service again.

Really happy with my feedback report. The consultant really seemed to know his or her stuff, and it was great to have some critical feedback on not just the script, but the saleability of the idea. Really glad I did it.

When you put a lot of efforts into your creative endeavours, it's always a tricky moment to hope for and receive a sound and professional analysis. After getting rid of an hour or two of emotional ups and downs, my neocortex decided – on its own – to take a step back. Clearly, the analyst did a really meticulous job to spot the weaknesses, the strengths, trends and I'm inclined to say DNA strands worth noting in this project. Also, it's the first time that I receive as a conclusion, a plan of action. It should have been obvious to me from the get go and yet it was an eye-opener. The problem with ideas, you can't just touch them on the surface nor stay for a long time in mid-water, you have to dive into them, in depth. If you want producers and an audience of any kind to follow you, especially in this day and age. It's the unexpected realisation with this process. And for that, you have my deepest thanks. If the occasion presents itself, I'll work with you again.

The report I received was very timely (under 2 weeks) and very detailed. The writer clearly had gained a comprehensive understanding of my script and offered insightful feedback. The analysis of the script's marketability was very interesting, though perhaps more immediately useful to a commissioner than a writer developing their next draft - having said that, it'll no doubt be a useful perspective to have at the pitching stage. Definitely recommended!

I have just completed the How To Write A Great Novel course and I can only describe it as excellent! It is packed with information on everything from structuring a story to finding a publisher. It is a completely immersive experience which really challenges you to get on with your work and produce a novel that you can be proud of. I learned so much about characterisation, genre, setting and dialogue - the book I always dreamed of writing has finally become a reality. Many, many thanks!

The Effective Script Reading course was intensive, as advertised, and gave both a general introduction to the development industry and in-depth instruction in the technical side of writing script coverage. I came away with much more confidence as a reader, and I look forward to putting the skills I learned to good use.

The Effective Script Reading course was a very useful intensive course packed with helpful tips. As a screen writer, it has given me an added advantage to look at a script from an accessor's point of view. The many invaluable scripts given to us are good examples to follow even though they are not the most current films. Cant wait to read their feedback on my homework to see if I can be a good accessor.

Having previously studied Film at University and worked as a script reader, I booked the course as a refresher before starting an Acquisition role. It really exceeded my expectations, and I have since recommended it to many colleagues.

The Effective Script Reading course was incredibly informative and provided a thorough set of notes and sample reports to go over once the day had finished. The course leader was very knowledgeable and got the class involved in an engaging group discussion. I am looking forward to putting what I learned into practice.
