“I ordered a recliner on JCPenney online never got the first one had to wait two months to get my refund ordered the second one never got the never got the recliner that time so I've cancelled it and I'm going somewhere else”
“I recently placed an online order. I ordered a mens belt and they sent me baby clothes instead. I requested a return and sent the baby clothes back. My return was received but they charged me an $8.00 return fee. I have called customer service 3 times and have been put on hold for close to an hour each time...conveniently they close about 45 minutes after being put on hold and disconnect my call every time. My problem can't be solved online, I need a human. I have had so many other issues in the past with out of stock orders. It's sad but sorry JCP, I am done, you have struck out with me. I will not deal with the hassle ever again.”
“I ordered 2 pairs of exercise Capri and a women exercise shirt from JC Penney. I paid almost $ 4 dollars to ship to store. I tried on everything at the store before I left. Unfortunately all were to large. Had to return all. Not only did I pay the 4.00 for shipping ( TO THE STORE!) but prorated ??? almost & dollars. Wont be shopping there any more.”
“I have for 50 years only shopped at JCP for all my bedding, drapes, blinds etc. only place to buy and offer the best quality and prices for Petite women and big and tall men. Their clothing line still remains quality. I would not purchase anywhere else. Even today received my husbands shoes which the sale price was so great on line that I bought him 3 pairs.

“I placed an order for a canvas art piece that was on sale with better pricing that buying direct from Big Canvas or ICanvas. I requested cancellation with 1 day of placing the order as it would not be fabricated and shipped with arrival for 2 weeks. JC Penny refused to cancel the order stating they had a 30 minute policy for cancellations. This is absolutely ridiculous, and I will not be shopping with this retailer in the future.”
“JCPenny is the absolute worst place to shop. I purchased a high-end mattress and used my credit card. However, I did not receive a purchase receipt with an order number online or in my email. I phoned to get clarity of my purchase and once I received the order number, I asked why we had received a notice from the credit card company stating JCPenny had canceled the order due to non-payment.
Needless to say, I was livid! I then spent, and this is no lie, 5 hours on the phone trying to find out why JCPenny had kept my almost $2,000.00 then canceled the order. I spoke with 5-7 customer service representative, 2 supervisors, and 2 managers who sounded as if they were in a crazy loop saying the same thing over and over.
Long story short, I ended up putting the credit card company and JCPenny on two separate phones so I could get to the bottom of where the money was that I would expected to pay back. JCPenny stated that they had charged my credit card and then placed a hold on the funds; so now, they said I had to use another card to make the payment to get the item and my original payment dropped off and returned to the credit card.
As long as this complaint is, JCPenney did not attempt to make this situation right in any shape or form. I encourage everyone, to please stay away from JCPenny and do not, please do.not try to use credit cards so you can be charged twice for high end items.

“Garden toile comforter set, literally garbage . Came with hem out of curtains. I mended comforter tore right away and don't wash It . All lumpy just threw it in trash. Only had a few months. Actually penneys clothing is going down hill . Very poor guality”
“I am a retired JCPenney employee and have worked in 2 JCPenney store locations. I spend my winter months here in Naples & shop at the Naples JCPenney. In the past 2 years I have had the pleasure to be assisted by Maritza Martininez in windows and mattresses. I would like to commend her on her excellent service, friendly additive over and beyond. “Placed an order on 2-7-22, around 12:00pm eastern time. Called back and canceled the order a little later the same afternoon because it was no longer needed. The customer service representative told me that she was canceling the order. I received an email right after that call thanking me for my order and with an expected shipping date and sure enough my credit card had already been charged.
I made two more calls to customer service to no avail.
They(JC Penny) has my money and I have no item yet. It's been 7 days to date. I have not received the item so I can return it.
I have shopped at JC Penny for more than 45 years,
but I will not shop JC Penny.com again. There are many other options
Once I receive the item I will return it and expect my refund back into my account as quickly as it was taken out.”
“I ordered a pair of sneakers January 4th on their website to pick up in store. When I opened the box at home, they sent the wrong shoe size. The store is blaming the online department and customer service is blaming the store. I have sent countless emails to get the issue fixed and to this day I still have the shoes at my house. They refuse to send me a ups label and I’m unable to use the return portal on their website because the item was a final sale. This is utterly frustrating to have to deal with coming from such a huge corporation.”
“I ordered an item January 24, 2022. Paid Express shipping now February 3rd 2022 still no item. Called they blame the shipping carrier. Excuses instead of finding solutions for there shipping. I ordered an item from Chewy it was delivered the next day. JC penny staff just keeps blaming the carrier. I will not shop at JC penny's, I do not recommend the Express shipping. If I could I would give them 0 stars. I received an E-mail from JC penny's requesting information on my order stating they would get back to me, well they never did.”
“I ordered a mattress and box spring from JcPenny's got the song and dance along with it 3 months later I finally get it delivered from Ryder not even a month later and I call Pennys to say its defective they says oh I'm sorry let me see what i can do. After talking to 3 different people and one is a manager, they say I had 48 hours to call and say it was defective. Ok after having a new mattress and box spring I'm suppose to know that its defective???? Now to get another one I have to pay for it and a 15% restocking fee to return the mattress and when they get my mattress and box spring back they will credit me the other mattress fee I had to pay up front. They are out of their mind. So much for warranty.. "Do not order a mattress or box spring from them they will give you the shaft." I will throw this out before I give them more money!!!!!!!!! So much for customer service”
“I just bought a dress short and pens for my husband at JCPenny in the South West plaza in Colorado. I want to share my good experience. Last summer I was shopping in men’s department and it was messy. This time I was pleasantly surprised how clean and organized department is. Everything by sizes and easy to follow. I’ll definitely come back to the store again.

“I have been very happy with the clothes, bedroom and bathroom items I have purchased over the years. What I am not happy about is the pricing differences in store and online. For example today I found just what I wanted in store for $36. I check online and it was on sale for $24.99. The cashier said she could give me that sale price. But, she couldn't give me for the limited time Flash Sale price of $16.24. So I leave the item with her, find a chair, get out my phone and purchase it online. I then had to go home and wait for an email to say it was ready for collection which came about an hour later. What an unbelievable waste of time, energy and gas? It is also so unfair for those who don't have the know how to do this and go in a pay the full ticket price. I will continue to shop online but I feel like JPC is trying to cheat me when I shop in person.”
“I totally do not understand these bad reviews I'm seeing for JC Penney. Why is the title here spelled JCPenny when it's Penney? Anyway have shopped at Penney's for decades and for years online (only because my local store closed) and have never had an issue that was not corrected. They go above and beyond to make sure the customer is satisfied, especially when the error was made on their part (which for me was once). As far as people having no patience and being annoyed that a register was closed and they had to go to another one, that is everywhere, including Macy's during these times. Times are rough for these stores. One day you'll all be sorry when none of these stores are left and there is only Amazon and Walmart because you're all acting like a bunch of Karen's.”
“An online order was marked "Delivered" but it was not. Contacted JCP "support" to have them re-send my missing items but they ignored my e-mails so I gave up. J.C. Penney lost a customer over a $34 order.
Contrast with Amazon, who replaced a missing order within a couple of days, no questions asked. I guess that's why Amazon is thriving. They know what "customer service" means.”
