“Do not choose Octopus! I completely agree with all the negative reviews seen here. Absolutely appalling company - got moved to them from Shell (who I never signed up with either!) Was not informed when I transferred. Did not receive a bill for months and now doesn't make sense as they have me registered with two gas meters! I have lived at my property for ten years and been with several energy companies and nothing like this has ever happened before. No one phones back, or makes contact from the UK offices, and problems are not resolved by the South African offices. Absolutely furious and will be moving elsewhere.”

“Really good company for customer service. In comparison with British gas and Scottish power, octopus energy are far better. Awhile ago they made a mistake, and they admitted it, and gave me a nice lump of compensation that went towards my gas bill. Now British gas all I had was headaches and trouble. “As a landlord of multiple properties I was looking to switch number of accounts to a decent provider. Octopus exceeded all expectations.
Easy to switch.
Very clear terms from the Starr.
Competitive (if not the best) rates.
Web is easy to navigate and has all information needed to manage accounts.
Customer service 5* (recent experience of installing CT meter was stress free).
Billing s always correct (which s unbelievable after years of messy accounts with British Gas).
I m surprised seeing so many poor reviews...

“I'm really happy to be a customer of octopus energy and always give good reviews regarding their service. But I have since had my review taken down as trust pilot are adamant that my last review had somewhat breached their rules which is absolutely nonsense. My last review was regarding a customer service employee named Travis who was so helpful to my husband and I about how the octopus points worked and was merely acknowledging the fact that octopus are customer friendly in every way. But unfortunately my review was removed from trust pilot which really upset us both as we've used the service times and have never encountered any problems whatsoever. But on this occasion they removed my review which in my opinion didn't breach any rules at all. So to everyone at octopus if you fail to hear from me it's only because of trust pilot in not letting me give you the reviews that you so truly deserve. Thank you and best wishes from us both.. “Dreadful response, as a loyal customer I asked advice on how to set up a new Direct debit.
After serval,text backwards and forward .
I received a text to say the DD had been set up.
Without my consent, without my permission. I was horrified to think that a person an employee, from octopus has the right to go into my own personal bank account and take out a Direct debit ,to set it up for monthly payments without my or the banks permission...
They have no right whatsoever to take money from my account with out my authority, to get details of my account ,which I haven't given them any details whatsoever, as I only wanted advice by text on how to go about setting a DD up.”
“Got coned at the door by utilita changed from octopus to utilita biggest mistake I’ve ever made far more expensive said I’d be fitted with new meter and smart meter when I phoned twice conveniently they couldn’t get through to the right department. I phoned octopus this morning have gone straight back to them spoke to Kieran on phone he was professional polite and sorted it in minutes. “Had a problem with a ev charger installed by Octopus and although it took some time to resolve the charger has now been replaced. I am very happy with the result. Octopus supplies my gas and electricity and i am very happy to have them as my supplier. I have recommended Octopus to friends and family and recieved £50 for each referral.”
