I have placed claims and final received responses and someone called me and when I asked a question they hung up. I have been trying to get to someone since they didnt answer my questions or call back. I am sitting on hold for 45 minutes now and no one picking up.

I’m sure they’re just like any other pet insurance company in this way, but they constantly deny my claims stating that they are pre-existing conditions. My dog has had allergies since the day I got her, so I would have needed insurance for her since before I got her for that to be covered, apparently. And she’ll get an infection in her lip folds due to saliva build up (brand new thing) and that’s apparently part of her allergy. I know they aren’t in the business of just paying out for everything, but they barely pay out for anything when it comes to my dog. And dealing with appeals has been a nightmare and has never once turned out in my favor.

Sometimes they ask for more things that are already on the invoice to take longer to pay you back. Another thing I dislike is that when you sign up they tell you you will be able to make changes in your renewal period but that's not true they didn't let me change my deductible because I had claims during the year.

Trying to get ahold of someone is horrible. Twice in the last week I’ve called and waited 45min first time and 66 minutes second time. Earlier in 2020 I’ve called and same thing, waited 45 to 60 minutes to talk someone. Why does it take so long to get reimbursement. Don’t take that long for you to take my payment

Took over a week for them to respond to 2 claims I filed. Once they responded, they combined both of my claims which were separate occasions and decided to reimburse me for $96 total in another 5-7 business days. That includes the spay, rabies shot & wellness exam I had payed for. In the policy it’s says they reimburse you certain amounts, so I was expecting to get around $215 back, considering I spent over $400 total. I’ve heard other pet insurance companies approve claims almost immediately- with little to no waiting time & give 90% back no questions asked. I would not recommend this company. I will be canceling my policy

I feel like I never get money back every time I take my dog to see the vet and I submitted my claim is so unfair I already pay a lot every month thinking about switching to another insurance sorry but is the true

They will find something to deny payment. We had wellness and tried to use it, they didn’t pay anything on a bill. Surgery to extract infected teeth and cleaning. No reimbursement.

Very upset with the quality of service. When I first got this insurance I could not have been more happy with service. Now the service is poor. Cant get anyone on the phone and multiple claims denied why is not explained well enough and cant get anyone on the phone to ask why and what needs to be done. With the price so high on this insurance i would think service would be better. No I am not happy about the service now.

If there is a way to mess up your claim forms, you can count on PB to be the best. I have had numerous appeals due to the initial processing department's lack of attention to detail. It's cheaper to pay for your pet's bills out of pocket than have to deal with all this aggravation, which could have been avoided had they processed the claims correctly the first time.

When it comes to wellness care, these plans are meant to offset the cost of what you will be spending to keep your pet healthy and are not designed to cover the majority of your vet bills. Claims turnaround time is ridiculously long. Prices are quite high also.

First time submitting a claim and expected it to be processed a little quicker so that's why the low review. Once the claim was approved I was paid within 3 days of the approved claim.

I received a $5 reimbursement for a $50 bordatella vax. Having spent my career in medicine I’m well acquainted with insurance “allowables”, but this is borders on the ridiculous.

Hi Peg, yes, thats because you had already used the majority of the benefit for vaccines for the year. All that was left was $5. My dog went to the ER recently and his visit was not covered. I thought that my plan covered the cost of emergency procedures. Now, I'm out of 200 dollars.

I was recently advised that mu claim was completed. I was surprised that I had to pay a deductible and co -pay. I think thats an over extension of the pet policy. Sam

Hi Samuel, a deductible and copay are selected by you upon enrollment. Coverage does not begin until your copay and deductible is met, much like any other insurance product. We are happy to explain how the policy works. Please give us a call!

Their online system is efficient, but watch for 40% increases annually after paying (and barely using) the policy with a healthy pet. Like most insurance, they are happy to take your money for years and then suddenly increase premiums and push you out once they estimate you may start needing to use it. It’s a shame, but a 40% premium increase for the same policy in one year tells you everything you need to know about this company.

Hi Lance, yes, prices will tend to go up as your pet ages. Much like in human health care, an older person is going to be more expensive to insure than a younger one. Similarly, a pet's chances of becoming ill will increase as they age. The insurance premiums are designed to reflect this increased risk of illness. Rates are based on pet's age, breed, and cost of veterinary care in your area. You'll be happy to know that prices do not go up because of your pet's personal claims filing activity. We notify you 40 days prior to renewal to let you know what to expect and renewal is 12 months from your enrollment date. We have a lot of options for a more budget friendly policy. Let us know if you are interested in more affordable coverage.

The simplest of claims not approved and a horrible wait on the phone for an appeal form. Work on your customer service please.
