Pets Best has been a literal life safer for our pets. Our cat needed life saving surgery when he was just 3 years old. We could never have afforded it without insurance. Later, our dog was diagnosed with cancer and needed surgery and chemo. Having pets best allowed us to give her the treatment she needed and have more time with us. Claims are simple to file and payment is quick. Best investment we’ve made.

Pets best takes forever to process claims. At first I had no problem speaking with an agent but after they denied my claim and I appealed it, the phone number was suddenly hanging up and I could not reach someone until I tried about 10 times later. They denied my PUPPY’s claim for her retained baby teeth because her vet noted that she had baby teeth present when she was 10 weeks old. Their appeal takes 90 days and they state it’s voluntary according to their email. They claim to reach out to your vet for documents but they never do then they just deny your claim. On another unrelated issue, their agent cancelled the wrong claim when I requested to cancel one of my claims. Stay away from this insurance, buy a policy that understands a PUPPY with PUPPY teeth is normal.

I wish I could leave a more positive.review! But the website has been down for several days, really more like at least 10 days, with no warning to customers. The last two claims I submitted took a long time to process, most recently I finally found a customer service number and called. It was then I learned the website was being worked on and they were very sorry my claim had stalled out somewhere in the 3 weeks since I had submitted it. So, I am hoping things improve shortly, however, I have also started to research other pet insurance options.

I've been really happy with PetsBest. I recommended to friends. Both of my dogs got into rasins this summer and had to be hospitalized for 48 hours with IVs. I was able to confidently say yes to the care they needed because I had pet insurance for them. I'm glad they offer accident and illness insurance. PetsBest also covered a mass removal on one of my dogs back in April.

Every time I look at an EOB and then my monthly premium, I ask myself ”Now why was it that I thought pet insurance was such a good idea?”

I love having pets best for my pet. Lately it takes longer than usual to process claims. 3-4 weeks I think is unacceptable. Should take in my opinion 2 weeks tops.

I had the best customer service when calling and asking questions about my coverage. The lady was so sweet and caring on the phone. The only complaint I have is it would be nice to get reimbursements faster. It usually takes 3 weeks to get an email and 4 weeks for a payment. Thanks for the great customer service!

They do what they say they will do. Have been with them for a few years now and find the costs comparable, the claims process very easy and the claims results just as expected. I have no complaints (well this recent system upgrade has not gone very well.......locked out of system for days...that's fixed....but still can't submit a claim)

I've had good customer service, however the cost has almost doubled in this last year! I have 2 (now) senior cats and the cost for accident/illness policy increased a lot this last year, with a new cost of $250/month, which is not affordable for me. I had to drastically change my plan and it's still a lot of money. To be fair, once your cat is over 11, all pet insurance is close to $100 a month per cat. I didn't like, however, the almost manipulation of the policy rules. Once I changed my policy from unlimited to a $10,000 a year cap, I was informed I could never, ever change it back. Like all insurance, it's a gamble and kind of a scam.

Coverage still seems decent but my premiums have shot up in the last couple of years due to Pets Best being bought by private equity. Private equity ruins everything. They say premiums aren't allowed to increase due to use but I don't believe that for a second, and other pet owners on this insurance don't either (one person had 2 dogs covered, 1 who had claims and 1 who didn't, and guess which one's premiums increased more?). I'm scared that the premium will keep skyrocketing as they're trying to force us to either pay through the nose or give up a high level of coverage. Buyer beware: Pets Best is not what it used to be.

Great service. I thought we’d never use it but it’s proven to be very useful. We initially got it for our newer cat who turned out to be a little troublemaker. He’s never needed it but shortly after our older cat developed bladder stones. The claim process was easy, although it took some time. When our vet didn’t submit the documents in time the PetsBest rep helped us resubmit and guided us on what to ask the office. All in all we’ve had a great experience with them and we highly recommend them.
