The time to process these claims was unacceptable. Other carriers do it within days. PetsBest took over 3 weeks.

Coverage for medical is not that good..wellness is ok. My policy covers vaccines&take home prescriptions but it will not cover flea&tic med. Beware…ask LOTS of questions before you buy! When your pet gets older & really needs the coverage it gets sketchy . And the premium sky rockets!!!

This is my first claim with pets best and I was a little bit, disappointed in how long it took to have a claim. The reason why I went with you guys is because of the ease of submitting a claim, and it took almost 3 weeks to get an answer.

Having high pet bills and being denied reimbursement due to a timeframe rule makes no sense to me. If I am paying monthly for insurance but still end up covering the cost myself, I might as well put that money into a savings account and use it for bills. For this reason, I’ve chosen to leave this company.

I don’t appreciate you guys raising prices every year. I got the insurance when my dog was a puppy. There should be an advantage of having the insurance to reduce costs but soon the cost of the insurance will outweigh its benefits.

Like all insurance companies, Pets Best looks for questionable reasons to deny claims. They are slow in processing claims, and only to then tell you why they're denying it. I'm not getting my money's worth. (BTW, this survey is silly; I'm reviewing whether or not I was satisfied with how they paid my claims, not whether some item was delivered to me.)

They take a long time to process claims and don’t accept the receipts that the online companies provide, so it’s a hassle to provide proof of purchase.

I took them at least 15 to 20 days to claims done and now I still haven't gotten it into my checking account yet

Overall, I've had a really good experience with this company for the past 8 years. But on my most recent claim, they did not handle it well at all. I received multiple emails from them, stating that there was a delay on their end because they were needing to contact my dog's vet for additional information. Turns out that was not true, AT ALL. They denied my claim for particular wording on an invoice. And instead of contacting the vet for clarification, like they implied they were, they just flat out denied the claim. I'm super disappointed in the situation because now I have to go through the appeals process for something that absolutely should be covered under my dog's policy. The 2 customer service representatives that I spoke with honestly sounded like they didn't want to be at work that day and couldn't provide any additional assistance other than telling me I had to go through appeals, which can take up to 60-90 days. I think it's absolutely absurd that they would deny my claim under some impression that my dog is pregnant when she is 8 years old & spayed. Make it make sense. That info has been documented on every single piece of paperwork that has ever been provided to them. So the lack of care in claim handling & to finalize a decision without actually reaching out to her vet to clarify wording on an x-ray is just baffling to me.

The reason for this review is: in order to drop the Well Care portion of the policy which we find to not be financially beneficial Pets Best cancels the existing policy and creates a new one which then considers any ailment your pet has as pre-existing. How is this ethical when you have been paying for coverage and have never had any major claims???

The insurance is horrible. Almost all claims denied as not covered or when they were a very small amount. I spent more every year on the premium than I even claimed. Year 2 my rate went ups $100/mo and the 3rd year &150/mo with no claims. When I did file a claim it would take a month to get either an approval or denial. When it was approved it took 2 weeks or more for a deposit into my account. I would not recommend pets best to anyone

I am still waiting for my refund check. I’ve received an email that it’s delayed with no follow up. I plan on cancelling my policy.

Pets best provides good coverage. The claim process is easy to navigate. Processing of the claims vary but is generally prompt and within a week or two. When I initially purchased Pets Best insurance the price was affordable. I have been a member for at least or almost 7 years. The price increase over the last 2 years has been ridiculous. Last year my monthly price increased by almost $30 which is why I am rating it so low. When I inquired why such a huge increase when normally the increase is like $5-$8, I was told it was because they had an increase in their members submitting claims. It was not based on the amount of claims I made but from ALL of their members submitting claims.

Price is reasonable but the claims process is terrible. I have a cat with a chronic condition and have to submit claims regularly. It always takes at least two or three tries before the claim is processed correctly, usually with me having to call customer service and explain what they did wrong. It’s a huge pain.

Now that I have a sick dog, I realize the numerous exceptions. The vet visits to see a sick puppy are not covered, even though the insurance is supposed to cover illness. What??? And for the things that are covered, only 80% of that costs is applied to the deductible instead of 100%. Insurance for people does not work that way, so why is pet insurance following a different--and therefore deceptive--model? I have continually tried to add my credit card for reimbursement, and I continually receive an error.
