I used to brag about pets best to all my friends looking for pet insurance, but lately claims are taking weeks to months to process which even as a veterinary professional this seems unacceptable. People get pet insurance to cover expenses that they can’t afford to keep out of pocket. Not only that but my premiums are going up even though it’s taking longer and longer to get paid back. Been very frustrating.

We switched from embrace was a nightmare for us as far as our animals were concerned over to Petsbest and we have been very happy with everything. When you call on the phone, 90% of the people you talk with are very pleasant and knowledgeable. If there's a problem with your claim, you get an email explaining what the problem is. We will definitely stick with pets best and recommend them. The only thing that I'm waiting for is to see what my increase will be in May when it's time for renewal. I had seen some other people complain about the increase but I can't comment on that right now. I can comment on that later. But I would highly recommend pets Best for your fur babies.

I have been with this insurance almost 7 years and I honestly say it’s been great. The turn around for the claims is short, the submission is easy and when I have called the help line or customer service they have always been helpful.

I’ve been happy so far. Thankfully our pup has been healthy, but it good to know I have insurance. Help with wellness has been appreciated.

My pet turned 5 years old and my policy went up over $30 a month. They continue to have issues with payment- taking out monthly payment as well as months to get reimbursed from a claim. Their app is also down frequently. I’d recommend searching elsewhere for another pet insurance.

Pets Best is priced right and the coverage is very reasonable. We find it to be a great value, and reassuring that if our pet has a big problem, they will be there for us!

It is beyond frustrating that 95% of the time you can’t log into the app or their webpage! You can fax them over a claim, but then it takes forever and you can’t follow up with it because you can’t get onto your account. This is a persistent problem that they are quite aware of and can’t seem to get a grip on it. For this reason alone, I would not suggest this insurance.

I highly recommend this company. It is great. They always process my claims promptly and hassle free. The customer service staff are superb, knowledgable, polite, and very helpful anytime I need assistance.

I signed my two younger cats up for Pets Best after our older cat was diagnosed with cancer, treatment failed, and we had to let her go. Not wanting to suffer the financial strain of that situation again with the younger cats, I solicited opinions from other pet owners and heard good things about Pets Best. Up until October 2025, everything seemed good, but after the update they ran in October 2025 it's been a real struggle to get any claims processed in a timely manner. Pets Best says they will process claims within 21 days, but I have multiple claims that still haven't been processed for over 4 months now. I have had to call every week for the past month and spend over an hour on the phone between the hold time and finally getting to talk to someone but having to explain everything all over again and try to figure out what progress has been made, if any at all. I've had multiple claims closed due to "missing medical records" despite both our vet's office and myself uploading and emailing the medical records multiple times. When I get someone on the phone to acknowledge the correct medical records were sent, the new automated system creates new claims with the medical records and invoice they already had, then says the new claims are duplicates because the files attached are the same and closes the claims so I have to call again and get a human being to reopen the claims and mark them to be manually processed by a human being so the automated system does not reject them again. I believe the only reason our most recent claims were processed was because I threatened legal action with my attorney for breach of policy because Pets Best was not processing claims in a timely manner and was advised to file a complaint my state's Department of Insurance if the claims remained unprocessed still. I am still waiting on 2 more claims that are nearly 5 months old to be processed. The only reasons I'm not giving a worse star rating are the following. If you can actually get the claims processed with their new updated system, the coverage is decent and will help with major illnesses and accidents and the wellness coverage is useful for vaccines/dental exams. When you call, these poor customer service reps are clearly trying to help within a bad system that private equity has ruined with automation, which isn't fair to them either. Pets Best does have a legally binding contract and obligation with every customer to actually honor these policies, process claims in a timely manner, and have a system that does not falsely reject claims due to automation that doesn't work. It's incredibly frustrating to be paying for a service you have to spend hours of time over weeks fighting with to just fulfill the legal agreement you have with the service provider. I suspect many other customers don't have the experience or bandwidth to fight these falsely rejected claims to Pets Best's benefit, but unfortunately for them I was the wrong person to do that to, and I was able to claim over $2500 of payouts legally owed to me by Pets Best per the policy documents regarding the claims I submitted. I can only imagine how much they've shorted others by trying these tactics and those people being unable to fight back for what is rightfully theirs. If you are shopping around for pet insurance, I currently would not recommend this one even though I would have in the past given how they are operating now. Unfortunately, one of my cats now has a condition that would be considered preexisting and would not qualify for coverage with any other insurance provider, so we're stuck here.
