I have been with Pets Best since January 2024. I pay $68 a month for my 4 year old cat. While the claim process itself is incredibly easy and the user interface is straightforward, the actual "Explanation of Benefits" was quite anticlimactic. For a recent $315 wellness visit, I was only reimbursed $140. Between the "Wellness caps" on labs and exams and various non-covered administrative fees, the math just does not feel like it is working in my favor. I have paid in nearly $1,800 over the last two years and have seen very little of that returned for routine care. The problem is that because my cat is now 4 years old, I feel stuck. Moving him to another provider would likely result in higher premiums or anything in his current medical records being labeled as a "pre-existing condition." I recognize the insurance is there for the "big hit" emergencies. Thankfully, we have not had to use it for that yet. However, the day to day value for a healthy cat feels very low. If you are looking for a plan that truly offsets the cost of annual care, the Wellness add-on may not be worth the high monthly premium. It provides peace of mind for a catastrophe, but for everything else, it feels like a lot of money for very little return.

We have had our rescue dog for about a year and a half. She’s approximately 2 1/2 years old at this point. Normally a young dog does not have many health issues, but we have had a couple of things crop up and Pets Best has been wonderful about reimbursing.

am extremely frustrated and disappointed with this company. The annual price increases are becoming completely unreasonable. As someone who works in the veterinary field, I fully understand that the cost of veterinary medicine is rising, but it is simply not increasing at the same rate as the premium inflation I have experienced here. My rate should not be doubling year after year. It feels excessive and unjustified. I am also very dissatisfied with the claims process. Even for basic medication refills, refunds take an entire month to process. Waiting that long for such straightforward claims is unacceptable and adds unnecessary frustration to an already expensive service. Unfortunately, I feel stuck with this company. Both of my dogs now have underlying conditions, which means I cannot switch to a different insurer without losing coverage for those issues. If that were not the case, I absolutely would have moved to another provider by now. As a veterinary professional, this experience has significantly affected my opinion of this company. I would not recommend Pets Best to clients, colleagues, or friends, and I would not choose to use this company again for any future pets.

Very happy my claims for a foreign body surgery and then all following complications were covered without any questions! My only complaint is the 3+ week turn around time. When you're spending 3k+ at the vet and having to use multiple credit cards, waiting that long for reimbursement is nerve-wracking.

Pets best has always been great to work with! Timely with reimbursement and if any issues customer care has always taken care of me. We have been wit them for 4 yrs

Claims service time is hit or miss as a rule. Recent claim was done in a very reasonsble time and no issues as to what was covered and what wasn't.

The only complain is that Pets Best didn't tell me that the vet did not provide my dog's medical records until like almost a month that I had submitted my claim. Once I was able to get it from the Vet, Pets Best processed the claim fast. Second, chat is never available to reach you, only via phone. That should improve being able to get help and chat with an agent.

WHEN I ASKED MY ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON WHICH INSURANCE SHE USES, SHE REPLIED, PETS BEST. I SAID, THATS WHOM I USE.

Pets best has been quick to respond to claims in all ways. If required info to process they advised right away and when all questions answered they paid out claim immediately. Have been fair in their coverage and premiums. Excellent organization....

Processing times vary greatly; either immediately or long delays. Vet record submissions go unanswered and have to be resubmitted multiple times and are still never acknowledged. Once processed claims reimbursement is accurate.

My dog got a toe nail infection more than 6 months after the plan's effective date. Pet's Best took 2 months to tell me they couldn't get a hold of my vet for more information and closed the claims. I was told that if I uploaded my pet's medical records, it would initiate the closed claims to be reopened and reassessed. I uploaed by dog's full medical records. Nothing happened for more than a week until I called customer service to get the claims reopened. And then my claims were denied the same day because the determined the toe infection was a preexisitng conditions. It was not a pre-exsting condition (if my dog had a toe infection for 6 months that I waited to address, he would hace lost a limb or worse.) When I called to address this issue, the estiamted wait time was 5 minutes. I waited for over 45 minutes before I needed to get on with my daty. I was told Pet's Best was one of the best pet insurance companies. If that's true, I can't imaging how bad the other companies are.
