I wanted to order a small briquette maker (price about £12) to be sent to Spain. At check-out, this had grown to almost £90 with freight. As you can imagine, Power Tools will not be doing much business with Europe at these prices, Brexit or no Brexit. That is a pity because I would like to support a British firm but this kind of pricing makes it a non-starter.

If I could leave a 0 star review, I would. I paid extra for the delivery to arrive earlier, a week and a half later, it had still not arrived. I had to email the company due to their phone lines not being available, I finally had an email reply that my order would be dispatched the next day. 2 days later it arrived, with one item missing. No update to say it was to follow or why it was missing. Asked if a manager could get in touch with me, but apparently this was not an option. Would never use again, and would not recommend.

Ordered newly £100 worth of screws on April 1st. By April 12th they had not been delivered though I had received a message and refund for one box that was out of stock a few days before. On April 12th I had an email from PayPal saying that I’d had a full refund from Powertoolsdirect though no communication from the directly. In a effort to try to understand what was glowing on I sent an enquiry email. I received a shirt and barely apologetic email saying that they could not fulfil my order. Why did their system accept my order if the items were not in stock. Mail order no whets near as good as buying over their trade counter as I’ve always been impressed. Hope it reopens soon.

Ordered 7 items, one was delivered as expected, the remaining 6 items have still been delivered (now 8 days late). Very disappointed with the service....

I purchased a hand cultivator, while the tool is fine, the packaging was not. It arrived through the post in an envelope with 2 prongs sticking through with no protection on them. It was very dangerous to anyone who had to handle it on its journey. I would not recommend buying tools from this company again as the packaging was inadequate and could have caused injury.

Paid for 2 day delivery 10 days later still not received goods and had to pay another £2.99 as not enough postage was added by power tools direct. Very disappointed

first order and after week ( albeit Easter ) and paying for early delivery - advised not in stock and refund would be made . this is poor as we have to pay painter We should have been told out of stock earlier Gosia was very helpful tho

Normally very good - but not this time. After 3 working days (express delivery) no despatch notification. The only company I know that won’t take phone calls and after a slow response by email with a promise to look in to it - no reply. Good prices but as someone wise once said, ‘we sell ‘em for that price when we don’t have any’

Very poor service. Accepted an order and payment for an item (a Scroll saw) which they didn't have in stock . I ordered three items - the other two being blades which were compatible with the scroll saw. Despite cancelling my order for the saw they intended proceeding with the remainder of the order. I therefore had hassle of having to cancel all the order and seek a refund. This was the second time this happened to me in the space of a week - the first company I had dealt with was called Building Supplies Direct. I discovered later that these were the same company! Will not use them again.

Placed order with 2 to 3 days delivery and it took 2 weeks i had to keep emailing to find out what was going on and could never get a straight answer

Not worth a single star, but had to give one star in order to leave a feedback! Nobody answering the phone line, making excuses because everyone is working from home and why cant you answer phone calls by working from home? Item arrived late with extra shipping costs for 2-3day delivery slot which nobody kept to, then once receiving the packaging, its all poorly packed with no bubble wrap when the item clearly is very sharp with 3 sided bladed ends, and one corner was sticking out of the packaging. In this pandemic, nobody expects to have pubic hair in their item, when I clearly did! Quite unbelivable when the item is not brand new and damaged and this seller refuses to give me a free returns label. the tool is scratched all over the item, on the wood and metal parts. There is no worth of using Kent and Stowe's 15 year warranty when the product was already sold damaged. Not sure now that this is a genuine seller of this stock.

Unfortunately, we have placed many orders with this company and on numerous occasions they have damaged our goods in transit, we have then had to wait for long periods of time for a response and for our goods to be replaced. We would not recommend this company.

Don’t trust stock levels when ordering. I received an email alert saying something I’d been waiting for was back in stock, and so I ordered it. The next day o got an email saying it wouldn’t be back in stock for a week. My brother then got another stock alert, so ordered immediately for me online (again, website said ‘in stock’ and they took the payment). Waited 5 days and chased (at the time of ordering it said delivery would be 2-3 days). Only after chasing did PTD send another email saying ‘sorry it’s out of stock, won’t be back in for 3 months’. The prices are OK, but for the hassle and disorganisation it’s not worth it.
