“Preston branch eye test incorrect hence lenses incorrect. Second eye test no better they dont seem to have heard of astigmatism Told me they couldn't try three times so that confirms there just profit orientated.Left glasses on counter-"unfit for purpose". Avoid Specsavers”
“Caught out lying.
Bought some specs, as you do, at the Sleaford branch in Lincolnshire.
After a few days the right-hand lens popped out and the lens fell out hitting a concrete floor and cracking a little bit off the lens so, after a while, took them back.
Lady in there 'fixed' the problem by using a self tapping screw but couldn't snip the top of the screw off which looked horrible and, as these were mid range glasses, and only a few months old I said I wasn't happy so she said she would change the frame.
She made a big show of looking through a cabinet and, after a few moments of studied searching smiled hugely and lifted up a new frame.
I went back later to collect and took them home after thanking her for the excellent service.
However, later that evening I picked the glasses up to use them and the other side popped out so, out came my magnifying glass and... You guessed it, the self tapper was intact on the right hand side and the hinge on the left had simply failed, pinged open and, it was only because I was at home with a decent carpet that this lens didn't chip as well.
Absolutely shameful, I shall be back there tomorrow, hope they won't lie to me again.”
“Went in for safety glasses and was very impressed with the range and the knowledge of the lady helping me choose. She made sure that it fitted well and would provide the right protection, advising which frames were suitable and which were not. The optician was also very good, he was freelance and covering for someone else so reassuring to know that even when the main optician needs to be covered, there are good people to back them up. Overall a good, friendly and helpful experience.”
“Specsavers Sutton surrey branch.
Most of the staff are rude and unfriendly,
At reception they never listen actively,
They make mistakes when they fill the form.
Down stairs when choosing the frame, customers are forced to get whatever they give.”
“Previously I've always been happy with Specsavers. However, my new glasses (less than two months old) are faulty - one leg is damaged. These are the varifocals I use for VDU use at work (so not cheap). I've been told that my local branch of Specsavers cannot order in a replacement pair of frames specifically, and that I will just have to take pot luck and wait for 2 to 3 weeks until a delivery happens to have the correct pair of frames in.
This strikes me as totally unacceptable; I spend up to 7 hours a day at work using a VDU and need the correct glasses.”
“I went into my local secsavers to buy a £25 pound pair of glasses. Ha ha ! Up sale up sale. All the dearer glasses came out. Now I am up to £100 pounds . 1 hour later and refusing all there offers I stood my ground for a £25 pair. But then another £10 for a thinner lens.. NO !!!!!!!!! Please stick to your budget”
“I had my face measured etc by the " Experts" The glasses at home broke quickly as they were to small and the arm length were to short. Very disappointed. Took them back twice for repair.”
“Been a customer at Spec Savers Isle of Man for many years, last pair 2016, customer. Service had changed to 3 strikes and you pay, Ie: glassess need amusement first responce: we have already ajusted them and if they need doing again there will be a cost
So this year I change to an optician who confirmed no cost for adjustment and I could call n any time”
“I bought the most expensive glasses of a certain type, and I spent quite a chunk of money but one starting wearing them they appear to be a very low quality and will last too long. Going somewhere else to buy something better now but they have lost a future customer.”
“waited well over appointment time not once did anybody from the store
approach me and said they were running late
store phoned 2/12 hours later to apologise and try to get me to reschedule
customer care left a lot to be desired”
“We have always gone to spec savers for our glasses always been happy with the service but not this time the glasses frame isn't very good very cheap and nasty even though there from the Twiggy range plus I can't see my laptop screen so not happy at all this time round I think next time I will be trying somewhere else”
“I drove over my glasses and they were completely mangled! Booked appointment for 4pm today and by 5.30 walked out with my new prescription glasses soo impressed, all staff delightful particually Paul and Lauren”
“Asked for glasses with thin lenses like i already had,the
Sales assistant assured me they would be the same.
Waited two weeks for collecting new glasses vision slightly blurry as expected till my eyes settled ,then my wife noticed how thick the lenses were NOT what I was told by sales assistant
Returned next day to told to make them thinner pay another £50 pound felt i was misled product no effort to try and keep my custom
Sales staff not trained properly to explain products they sell shrugged her shoulders returned my money to card told it would take a week to go back in my bank WHY they took it out same day useless !!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
“Took my daughter after her teacher said she may need an eye test as her vision is blurry.. They fit me in the same day (today) and it turns out she needs glasses to read the white board, do her work etc.... Lovely and professional and helped pick out her glasses which suited her.... Well done Hornchurch specsavers.”
“Total incompetence at Bury shop. Prescription for reading glasses and distance. Ordered two pairs of each but all four were made with the same prescription. When informed that the reorder was ready I went to collect and found they too had been remade wrongly again. Expecting a full refund.”
“I went into Specsavers to find a decent pair of glasses. The staff found me a pair they said would fit but wouldn't let me try them on. Took them home, they didn't fit.”
“Absolutely appalling treatment at Morpeth. I have had my prescription increased for no reason other than they told me my eisight had changed "by two steps", She changed my prescription to take into account my reading glases (which is a wholly seperate prescription and is kept completely apart from my distance glasses) and then said my eyesight had changed to such an extent that I needed a new set. The young woman in the shop tried to take my photograph before I had my eyesight checked and said oh you will be needing new glasses (this was BEFORE I had my appointment with the optometrist) and I proceeded to tell her that I would not be buying such bug ugly Penfold style black plastic vile looking glasses. She then did an appalling "puff" test on my eyes which she did six lots on my left eye. I left my prescription in the shop because frankly it is not worth the paper it is written on. I have since had another paid for eye test at an independent optometrist who stated that there had been a small change in my vision but nothing worthy of note. I then prceeded to tell him about this shower and he said there is no way that there is a two step alteration in my eyesight. I am livid hopping mad furious. I am absolutely disgusted by what is no more than a cynical attempt to get me to purchase a new set of glasses when none was needed. This is frankly repugnant behaviour; screwing around with peoples vision all in the name of driving a profit. They have lost my business fully now and I will be informing everybody about what has happened to me.”
