Specsavers Scarborough . My direct debit to supply me with contact lenses was cancelled as I hadn’t been for an appointment with them. I hadn’t been for an appointment as they kept cancelling my appointments. Vicious circle which found me short of contact lenses. When todays appointment was cancelled I gave up and went to vision express! Horrific service! Will never use them again

Where do I start? Absolute rubbish throughout. My eye test was so rushed I was never asked to confirm that I was comfortable with the final prescription the optician chose for me, and now I’m afraid to buy new glasses. Don’t know what I’m going to get. The optician seemed desperate to scare the life out of me listing anything on earth that was wrong with my eyes, and then sold me some useless products. During contact lenses test I told the optician I had blurred vision, he didn’t care, still sent me home with the test lenses, which are different specs from what I had been using successfully for 10 years, so the test lenses of course turned out to be completely unsuitable for me. What a waste of my time! Everything at Specsavers seems to be aimed at quantity and sales, not quality. Next time I'm going to a proper doctor. I’ll pay more, but will get reliable and trustworthy results.

Avoid!! Bad customer service, wrong prescription, couldn't see out of glasses, have tried specsavers 3 times over the years, has not improved in that time, bad quality frames, and eye tests not done correctly.

5 weeks ago I was in need of having glasses repaired, unfortunately due to Covid-19 i was unable to, 3 weeks later I was allowed an eye test no problem even though we were in covid-19 lockdown, and they were happy to receive £320, although the lady wasn't helpful the gentleman was, I was told they would be ready in 2 weeks due to covid-19, Monday 8th June I received a text message saying to call for an appointment to have my glasses fitted. I made the appointment for today Friday 12th, knocked the door and was greeted by a fully masked PPE young lady who asked my name, locked the door & came back with a bag with my glasses in, I asked why they weren't being fitted and quess what I was told due to covid-19 they are not fitting. I fully understand covid-19 i work for the NHS, but surely after receiving your money they can fit your glasses, i have come home and they are too big, called up and I have to wait for an appointment approx 2 weeks. Disgusting and after many years going to specsavers will be the last.

Wellington Telford store - told me my eyes had really depreciated badly since visit one year prior - and sold me 3 pairs of glasses accordingly. Went back as I felt they were far too strong - was told to use them for an hour a day for couple of weeks and get used to them. I suffered from headaches, dizziness and sickness after forcing myself to follow their instructions and eventually my doctor sent me for a brain scan - ended up having two as symptoms persisted (both clear). Went to another optitions in Oakengates who discovered I had been wearing glasses way too strong for my eyes - no wonder I was ill. Specsavers are wriggling and indicating my eyes might have improved since my visit to them - miracle? I don't think so, they just will not apologise and offer refund so I am seeing solicitor as I am angry they get away with this (having read these posts) over and over again. It is about time they were CQC regulated. I have not left a name other than JenS as I will be taking them to court and I do not want to gie them anything to moan about. Will update you all very publicly when I win. Again not had refund but going to court and fully anticipating one.

Unprofessionals taking care of your eye readings and executing tests after test just for the result to be unsuitable for my eyesight. 3 times they managed to release an issued pair of eye glasses and still resulted horror.

It's the upselling that gets me. You start off with a basic prescription and then they pressure you to have loads of extras and get quite rude when you refuse them. It's all about money here and not about the customer. They wanted me to pay extra for better lens clarity on a £100 pair of glasses, I thought glasses were to help you get better clarity in the first place. Too many tricks to con you out of your money and I won't be using them ever again.

It seems to be a well organised marketing ploy by specssvers to lure you in with a “Free Eye Test” and then offer you 2 for the price of 1 spectacles - then your processed with no mention of overall cost - then your brought to a counter in the middle of the floor to be given the news on what you are expected to pay. You then have a waiting public audience looking at you. Most people put on a brave face and pay with a smile when they really are shocked inside. There then is a sudden switch from your debit card to pay with the credit card. All begins with “Free Eye Test” ends with you paying hundreds of Euro or Pounds.... Am I the only person that thinks this?

Specsavers Hillsborough, Sheffield to be avoided. New varifocals received on trying on I advised assistant that it was not possible to read small print, but distance fine. After holding a conversation shouting across the shop with a colleague, in front of other customers, it was my fault as I had had an eye operation. That was why I was getting the new glasses. Besides as she pointed out I did not need to read small print. When I said I did, she was not interested, did not bother adjusting the frame to fit properly and got me out as quick as possible. I now use these new glasses for distance and have to use my old ones for reading. They just want your money and that is it. The frames are very good design and friends comment on them, but I do tell them not to go to Specsavers.

Preston branch eye test incorrect hence lenses incorrect. Second eye test no better they dont seem to have heard of astigmatism Told me they couldn't try three times so that confirms there just profit orientated.Left glasses on counter-"unfit for purpose". Avoid Specsavers

Went for eye test. They forgot to do my field test. When I went for glasses I told young assistant that I had double vision. She replied well see how it goes! I eventually went to the hospital and they diagnosed cataracts and early glaucoma and increase pressure on one eye.......which was NOT picked up by Specsavers. The specialist was very surprised. When I said I had double vision I should have been immediately seen by an optician not told by a young trainee see how it goes on! Very poor from a store where there are a few familiar faces but most appear to be trainees and youNEVERsee the same optician....lots of locus. Not good enough at all...just like a conveyor belt as long as they get your money. Time for a change which will include my wife who spends hundreds of pounds there every year. She has just been back and a senior assistant immediately spotted that her new glasses had been made up incorrectly! Say no more!

My spectacles from Specsavers were great. I had high value lenses fitted in 2015. The sides had broken away so they needed replacing. On visiting the Specsavers store I was served by, (as I later learnt an apprentice) who advised me they could not be repaired on site. They would be sent away for up to 6 weeks and then they may not be able to repair them. I knew they could be repaired so I took them to be repaired elsewhere and they were able to repair them immediately. The service I received on this occasion from spec savers was utterly appalling which I conveyed to a supervisor and the Director who telephoned me. The situation was so bad, I have had to suffer unnecessary additional cost in order to keep my spectacles. I have since been trying to obtain reimbursement from specsavers for additional costs incurred. So far despite intervention by the OCCS I have not received a satisfactory resolution, just an empty apology and a reluctant offer of a credit note for £48. I have also written to the CEO Doug Perkins about a week ago but so far not received an acknowledgement or response to the issues outstanding. I live in hope? From adverts, I expected far more understanding than I have got to date.

Lenses were blurred, first appointment 6 weeks ago, still no word from them after the manager said they could lower the lenses, totally unfit for purpose, very patronising staff trying to adjust the nose rests and ignoring me saying i couldnt see,,,full stop!!!, and staff kept saying varifocals are different and need getting used to, then changed their tune when i said i had been wearing them for ten years, avoid the Ammanford branch at all costs! Have emailed a complaint and asked for a refund

Very poor customer service. No consistency with the information given. Only focused on up selling products. Gave me the wrong lenses. I will not be using them again.

My Husband has visited your Chepstow store this morning and had a very pushy seller instead of an optician. He was robbed. We will never use Specsavers again, we being my husband, myself, my Son and anybody else I have chance to share my opinion with. I am disgusted with Specsavers they are daylight robbers.

In July /20 i went to specsavers for eyetest as i do biannually. I know i now need reading glasses. Been wearing glasses from a very young age. The frames i was interested in where not even on show in store (Nuneaton branch). Dispenser said she would order them in and give me a call to come in and try them out and choose lense style. I got the call a week later whilst i was driving so could not answer. Later that day i returned the call, which I recognised as the branch number with the local dial code- put me through to a call centre which had no idea about my issue. They said they would get the shop to call me back before the end of the day, because i wanted an over the phone quote for frames and lenses (covid requires an appointment to see shop staff and i felt this was not needed for mearly a price quote). Guess what? Over 4 weeks later im still waiting for that call. Its a good job its only for readers and not my main everyday specs i need to replace. Not happy with the follow up service one little bit! When i took eye test i was in the shop for 1h 15mins and came out wondering why it took so long. With covid, i understood that customers where being fast tracked through the eye tests. 1h 15m is not what i consider fast tracked and if i didnt have to remind staff i had a parking time limit, i would have been in store much longer i believe. Take from this what you desire, but whether i use specsavers in the future- im not so sure. PS. The day before eye test appointment, which i knew already. I recieved an email, a text and a phone call to remind me. The only thing i didnt get was a pigeon with a note attached to its leg!!!

Satisfactory experience at the Stanmore branch of this opticians on Church Road having my first eye test, although made to wait about half an hour longer than booked. Frame selections are okay, but a little more variety would be welcome! Staff service was fine but again could be bettered with a little more listening and understanding of customer needs.

Letter sent to Specsavers waiting an answer. On 6th August 2020 at 8.30am it was my idea to have my single pair of glasses with a more cheaper frame of £69 more than spending £129 and the information previously received from you were enough to make such decision to get at Fitzroy Brunch in Cambridge the single pair of glasses. Unfortunately a very shabby member of your staff as he had the shirt very untidy with no tag’s name acting as manager calling himself as Mr Sha.... said to me that I was coming in the brunch too often and it would take me in the shop if I was prepare to buy something . I called this kind of behaviour the cow boy of the retailing forcing people with abuse behaviour and attitude. Clearly I felt after this arrogant behaviour no particularly happy to deal with the continuity of purchasing the glasses and I left. Is this the way you are training your staff? No I do not think so, so put right now before this element is getting over the concept and philosophy of Specsavers with a more damaging result If requires more details please let me know, I do not think everybody needs to be punished for an element where should not be in the medical retailing at all. Please note that if you buy a prescription glasses at Spec you get one nearly free as 2 for 1, but if you want only a pair of glasses you get 20% discount and here it is not making any sense wondering the value of the frame as the lenses when you can have another for free.
