“Went there for a pair of glasses. Was offered 2 for the price of one. Ended up paying over £200 for one pair, not even a good brand and they wanted to charge me £198 for the second pair due to me having to have thinner lenses? They say that the lens deal is NOT in the offer? Paid to have scratch resistant lenses and lense became scratched, visited shop and now they want £120 to replace just one lense? What a rip off, totally disappointed with the so called two for one offer that proved to be more expensive. Avoid this place and go to a small independent opticians that are willing to provide a good service and where they value a client as Specsavers certainly don't. Very dissatisfied.”
“Just had the most amazing service by Kanta @ Wembley branch, she was enormously helpful, friendly and funny! Opticians is normally a bore but I was laughing and smiling throughout, brilliant customer service and professionalism, kanta is a true asset x”
“I cannot recommend Shyrose at the Specsavers in Brixton enough!
She has a wonderful eye for how glasses fit the face shape (and is honest about it!) and is determined to make sure customers leave the store with a great deal to match the great glasses. She is truly amazing.”
“2 years ago I spent £325 for a new pair of glasses at Specsavers Romford. One “leg” broke off recently, so I went back to the store to see if they could fix it. They said they could replace the frame but because my frame is from discontinued stock I would have to pay £39 for a new one, which I thought was a great offer! When I came back the next day I was told by another sales person I couldn’t get this done for £39 because I have verifocals

She kept saying I should go for 2 pairs for the price of 1 deal since I have a new prescription. I repeated a few time that I DON’T NEED 2 pairs but the assistant just wouldn’t listen. When I said I prefer my own frames instead of theirs as I couldn’t find any I liked, I was told I will have to pay extra £40 to fit lenses in those, which I said was ok. I did buy a frame that I really like, that sits perfectly on my face, and looks good, a few months ago. To proceed with the order now the 2 sales assistants wanted to see a sales receipt for the frames I had. Obviously, I didn’t have it with me, and it’s been a while since I bought them, but they suggested that without the original receipt the order can not be processed. Unbelievable! I have been Specsavers customer for over 12years, I was about to spend £270 on the lenses to be fitted, and to be treated like this?! I AM NEVER GOING BACK TO SPECSAVERS! Outstandingly bad customer service and too expensive!”

“Having waited in store for nearly 45 minutes, we left not getting the specs my nan wanted. People were being seen before us. Also the lady on the shop floor knew what we were looking for why couldn't she have told us they can't do it, instead of making us wait. It's a big trip for my gran to make as she is 90 years old. And not only was it hard for her but a waste of my day off too! I would recommend avoiding specsavers Swansea at All cost.”
“Had a hearing test at Kettering branch a year ago and purchased 2 hearing aids which never worked properly it has been very difficult to get appointment to have them checked, Managed to arrange an appointment 2 months ago over the telephone, turned up and no one had recorded the appointment at the shop so nothing was done. They offered to rearrange the appointment for 1 month later. At that time adjustments were made which in the quietness of their office seemed ok, as soon as i went outside into normal life they were worse than before. Managed to speak to them today (16th May) they were looking at July for an appointment which was disgusting, so the person i was speaking to said that they were available now, so i said it would take me 10 minutes to get to the shop and was told "what a shame i will be with another customer then" £2000 down the drain”
“Had eye test here, got the prescription wrong in both eyes! When I asked for a re-test, was told I'd have to pay if I was wrong! Now just been back with prescription sunglasses which are unwearable ... was told that I should have chosen a smaller frame to avoid distortion at the edges of the lenses! Why wasn't I told this when ordering them? Absolute rubbish service and goods, won't go there again. AVOID!”
“I have never left a review before - on anything. But after the experience I had at the Tottenham Court Road branch yesterday, I had to leave feedback. I arrived on time for my eye test appointment, yet waited 20 minutes in the waiting area, while I watched other customers arrive after me, and be attended to for their eye test, before me. Eventually I had to mention this to staff, before I was then seen. Once with the member of staff, they proceeded with the eye scan, which had to be re-done 6 times, because their machine wasn't working. I then went into the eye test itself, which was completely fine; except the person I was with, continually forgot my details -
asking me the same questions over, and over, and over again, with me having to remind him of my previous answers. I have a DD monthly lens subscription, and have done for years now. However, they had no record of me on their system, or what type of lenses I use, and once the eye test was completed - I was asked in the lobby area, to pay £10 on the spot for the test. Which I had to embarrassingly argue in front of other customers, with the fact that an eye test every two years, is under my package subscription. Eventually they told me "don't worry about it then", and I left. I have never, ever, ever, experienced anything like it.”
“I wear varifocal lens glasses and picked a pair from your Bolton store when I received them I found that i physically could not see through them at work and when I raised this to staff for the fourth time they informed me that the glasses were to big for me so the varifocal was wrong - something that should have been raised before the purchase was made. I have to pick a new pair of glasses and I am having to pay an extra £50+ for a mistake that could have been prevented weeks ago if the staff had told me beforehand. Lesson learned I will not purchase glasses from Specsavers again.”
“I visited Birkenhead. Supersavers today I had a problem with a large floater I had a thorough examination by a lovely lady called Chloe I was Very impressed with the Service thank you”
“My names Dave Hall, had my eye test at Wulfrun Centre Store Wolverhampton on the 6th May ‘19. Adriana was excellent, very thorough with her testing, very professional, a credit to Specsavers. Lovely personality, she explained and answered all my questions in detail. Excellent customer service.”
“I had a very unpleasant experience with Specsavers (Harrogate) recently. Having booked an eye test which went well. I was then hustled down stairs by an assistant who had been sent for by the optician. At no point was I actually asked if I wanted a new pair of glasses, however I stated that I would have the same frames but again pressed into looking at other frames (even after the I-pad suggested a similar frame to those I had). The price was then calculated without any explanation of what I was actually getting. I know I should ask however I suffer from anxiety and it was a very harrowing experience.
After two weeks of discomfort I return to spec savers to find I have been given the wrong type of lenses. Apparently this was due to a “typo” during the initial visit and charged £30 more than I should have. I am now waiting for the new lenses.”
“Eyetest 3 years ago. Left eye :+1.5 Right eye:+3.5.
Eyetest 2 weeks ago: I wanted a test as things getting blur. She said Yes! Its got a bit worst seens the last eyetest. Left: +0.75 right: +2.
Is it worse????? ???????
Ok got new glasses and see f##k all with it. Great service. Or maybe not.”
“Went to Specsavers in Bishopsgate to get varifocals put in 2 pairs of glasses (which I had originally bought in the Lewisham branch) one of which had reactor lenses, collected them two weeks later (Bishopsgate is nearer to where I work)when I tried the reactor lenses last weekend they didn't work. Went to Specsavers this morning to ask to get them changed and i was told i would have to pay AGAIN. Why should I pay again for something I had already paid for!!!!!!”
“I have had contact lenses from Specsavers for many years. I receive them by post. Replacements have, until recently, always arrived before I’ve run out of previous supply. For the past couple of months I have run out before the next delivery even though I have not used more lenses than normal. So what’s changed? Not happy.”
“Bough glasses got a free eye test and was twice as cheap as boots opticians , and for vision express please dont go there , £400 for the same product specsavers sells for £250”
“A customer for over 30 years; over 20 years on a contact lens lens scheme with my wife and my daughter added over 5 years ago. My wife went for a lens check (16/04/19) after which the store staff stated her direct debit had been cancelled. Furthermore new scheme members were required to pay 3 months in advance for lenses and as hers were due in April requested payment of £54. They also stated that my direct debit had also been cancelled and that I would need to make a similar payment. However upon review of my account I found all direct debits active and payments had been made the previous month and were not in fact due until 6 days time. I contacted the store and queried but they insisted I had cancelled the bank instruction and would need to pay the fee which she, as an up-front and honest individual didn't question so paid. The timing of my wife's appointment we are given to understand was purely coincidental. Question: Is it reasonable to ask a customer to pay in excess of £100 up front 20 years into a contract because someone, somewhere cancelled the bank instruction. End result, we are potentially over £100 out of pocket and Specsavers have over £100 of extra cashflow in the system and we have no discernible benefit? Personally I find this completely unreasonable having paid on a monthly basis for in excess of 20 years. I am seeking legal advice for breach of contract and on principle have decided to walk, seeking an alternate provider. Shame on you Specsavers!”
