“I've been going back and to, to Mold Specsavers saying my prescription is wrong. Jack the manager didn't believe me, I had an eye test and the optician agreed with him nothing was wrong. I visited another optician last week had an eye test and found my prescription had improved, hence that's why I was sliding my glasses down my nose and my eyes were very irritated wearing my contact lenses.
In the past years I've had congenital fourth nerve palsy successfully corrected at Walton.
Earlier this year Jack blamed my eyesight changing on not having height measurement in my glasses and decided to incorporate this into my lenses. This also I've learnt to be incorrect, then he proceeded to ask me if I was diabetic.”
“Due to vision problems in one eye (to include a shadow), I paid for a consultation during which my eye was scanned. Optometrist informed me that my eye was healthy. I did not feel confident with what I was told so the next day, with my vision still the same as it was, I went to my A&E who referred me to the eye clinic to be seen the next day. The eye clinic sent me straight away to Moorfields hospital where I underwent surgery that day. So much for specsavers diagnosis of my eye being healthy. It was pointless complaining to specsavers. If in doubt about anything with your vision, get a second opinion.”
“No answer to telephone calls or emails, failing to notify when glasses are ready for collection. Disgraceful service and pathetic apologising shall not be visiting in the future”
“Booked home test.Got date for 4th November 2022 rung up 4 times to say i had not been given a time .Reply was will get a time 3 to 4 days before appointment. Have not heard anything rung again 3rd November to explain still know time and got cut of.Rung back still could not give a time.Really very poor service.”
“Test at the branch was ok although some of the staff not too friendly. I was told my glasses are going to be ready by Monday but still no sign of them. Apparently they haven't arrived yet , which is 8 working days after my visit. I wonder if they were even ordered. Lack of empathy towards customers is beyond me. You might wait for your glasses for ages without a word from Do yourself a favour and avoid this branch as it's such a waste of time, money and your energy”
“Arrived for contact lenses check up today - 15 minutes late - went into room for test - the guy asked 'are you new to contact lenses' I've been wearing them for 45 years! Then he cannot access me online - waited another 10 minutes. Decided to leave as was fuming - went to desk 6 people huddled round chatting whilst one on the phone - I said I was unhappy and leaving to which the lady at the desk said ' well he is a trainee'. I told them the last few times I have been with specsaver for my lenses it has been a farce - issued wrong prescriptions as no one updated the screen. For my glasses I had a good experience. Lenses rubbish experience and have now booked in at VISION EXPRESS .”
“I had my glasses done 1 month ago. The temlpes fell off and had to go back to store to get them fixed. The employees told thus is only a little thing. I wouldn't say so as the fell apart right after I bought them. I also asked to check the lenses as I do not think they are right for me. The employees were looking at me as if I were going something wrong. At the end they said my glasses are perfect and don't need changing. I certainly wont buy from them again. Go to an eye doctor and pay the price for a better check, then go to another company to get proper glasses. You are likely to end up wirh good glasses. Highly dissatisfied.”
“Yesterday I ordered two pairs of sunglasses from Specsavers Didcot. I wanted them to be polarised and photochromic and was told, in no uncertain terms that no company produced this combination. This is not true as Transition Lenses would have been suitable. I paid £330. At least 2 other companies could have satisfied my requirements. Specsavers staff should not lie to customers just to make a sale.”
“The Telford store made me feel dirty and infectious, and staff were unhelpful due to company protocol and policy. In order to get to the Telford branch you have to walk through a busy shopping centre where everyone is interacting normally without masks and getting on with life. Less than 2ft away through the shop door..and it's like going back 2 years to a nationwide lock down! Queuing to get in..People bathing in hand sanitiser..and masks everywhere.
I was "told" by 2 members of staff to "put on a mask", the first employee I told I was medically exempt.. I was irritated at being demanded a second time..so I simply said "NO" to the second employee, who in turn huffed at me and walked off.
Specsavers is the ONLY shop in the entire town centre to behave like they have an infectious disease in store.
Instead of making me feel "safe", it made me feel sick.
Then despite my son having worn contact lenses in another store, and gone through a trial period..they refused to give us his lenses, because he didn't repeat the process in store again.
I have now had to re-book yet another appointment to return to the "house that covid built" again.”
“Avoid. My eye test was completely wrong, and whilst they have refunded me the glasses, they refused to refund the eye test itself, even though I have done a 2nd eye test confirming the first test was wrong.
Initially I was promised I will be refunded the whole fee, eye test + glasses. But in order to help them identify what the problem was, I was asked if I would be willing to do a re-test?
I could've said No, and just go with the refund, but then I thought, ok, let me help them, let's do another test and see what the problem was. And then of course, if it turns out the test was the problem, I will still get the refund. That's what I was promised.
Ok. sure, why not. I've done the 2nd test, which indeed proved that the first test was wrong, and in fact I don't even need glasses.
However, when it came to getting my refund, they refused to refund the inital test which was completely wrong, even thought thats what I was promised to start with.
They started arguing that even though the test was wrong, the time was still spent to do the test, booking of the room, etc.
. Hello? When the eye test are advertised, they do NOT say.. "Hey pay £25 to book a room", you book for an eye test, and you expect accurate results. You pay for those results, NOT for the room, and if they have failed to provide good results, at least have the decency to refund the costs.
If you buy any goods or services, if they are broken, you are entitled to a refund. I don't see why this is any different. How can such big company refuse to refund knowingly and proven that the results they provided were wrong, therefore I was NOT delivered the service that I paid for.
The optician/consultant was great, really nice. However, the customer service was NOT. At some stage they even had the audacity to say that these test are very subjective. And the initial test, even though was wrong, it was still close enough to the 2nd one.
NO. How can you even say that this is subjective considering I look at something at a certain distance and its crystal clear, yet when I put the glasses that were prescribed from the first test, things become blurry? How can you call this subjective.
Subjective is when you either like something or not. Providing a pair of glasses that make you see worse, that is NOT subjective.
In fact wearing glasses with the wrong prescription can actually damage your eyes. yet, they still refused the refund.
Absolutely disappointed, and I will never ever use Specsavers again. This will also be reported to various health authorities.”
“Tried to get an appointment at Spalding Specsavers as I’ve got problems with my hearing aid. I am 91 years old and will have to wait nearly 3 months for an appointment.
Appalling service. Will never go to Specsavers again!”
“Optometrist and salesperson both say multi-focal lenses not necessary then proceed to explain why they are necessary. Do not purchase multi-focal lenses, they are a waste of time (three-weeks waiting time) & money (oddly expensive). The multi-focal lens is designed to be looked through straightforward. For someone who is not constantly looking straightforward as though he has a stiff neck, the new glasses were put away and are immediately being refunded. The range of frames in-store is a let-down, and they don’t tell you your prescription so it isn’t like you’re able to just order online. The optometrist wrote down a prescription for reading, saying there was some difficulty focusing at close-range. Do not need reading glasses, holding things close to read is just a bad habit. Your best bet is to see a practiced optometrist for a prescription and then just order glasses online.”

“have had an awful experience with specsavers in Middleton, Manchester. Last year was the first year my glasses havent been right. I had to go back for 2 more eye tests and get my prescription altered. This still didnt correct my lens. I didnt go back as i had enough. A year later i was due my eye test again! I went again and the same thing happened. I had to go back twice for an eye test. I also changed my glasses as these were giving me headache and know one knew why. They changed my glasses and still my vision was not correct. I went back again. I was saw by a consultant. She told me with these exact words 'its because of your age and there is nothing we can do'. Iam 35 years of age! What a joke! I gave them my glasses back and got a refund for it. The place is awful i wouldn't recommend anyone to go there. Absolutely shocking!!”
