My experience with TURO rental car during my recent trip to LA was nothing short of a nightmare. After renting a car, I encountered a flat tire the very next day. I immediately called the roadside assistance number provided, hoping for a prompt resolution. Little did I know that this would mark the beginning of a day-long ordeal. From 3:47 PM until past 8 PM, I waited patiently for assistance that never arrived. With no alternative in sight, I had to foot the bill for a towing truck myself. By the time I retrieved a replacement swipe car from the rental location, it was nearing 9:40 PM—effectively wasting an entire precious vacation day out of my four-day trip. To add insult to injury, not a single person I interacted with during this ordeal offered an apology. Instead, I was met with consistently poor attitudes. Some representatives even resorted to pretending they couldn't hear me, repeatedly saying "hello" until abruptly hanging up. In summary, my experience with TURO was utterly abysmal. I strongly advise anyone considering renting from them to steer clear. This company's disregard for customer service and the resulting impact on my vacation time was wholly unacceptable. Stay away at all costs.

With just one day remaining on our BMW reservation with Kyrylo Pierov through Turo, we encountered a flat tire while merging onto the freeway. Surprisingly, the flat occurred on the one tire without a recognized brand, simply labeled "Made in Ukraine," while the other three were Pirelli Run Flat tires. It took a lengthy 2.5 hours for roadside assistance to arrive and retrieve the car, resulting in a day lost from our rental period. Turo recommended to have the BMW towed to the owners garage, hence I will be out my last day of rental. Upon contacting the host about this issue, we received no meaningful assistance. We informed them that due to the flat tire, in which the car is being towed back to him with his already approval with Turo, we wouldn't be able to refill it with fuel since to now have possession of the rental. To our dismay, the host then sent us an invoice for a full tank of gas along with a refueling fee. This situation is unacceptable as the rental failed to provide a properly maintained tire, yet expects us to bear the cost. We refuse to pay for the extra gas charges, and also requested a refund with Turo for the day's rate that we were unable to utilize the car. I received an email from Turo saying they would reach out to me, but the next morning, they charged my credit card for the extra amount. I immediately contacted my credit card company to dispute the charge. My advice to everyone is to steer clear of Turo and opt for reputable car rental companies like Enterprise Exotics. It's just not worth the hassle.

Rented my vehicle out through Turo, customer brings the vehicle back without replenishing the fuel. Filed a claim with Turo, the claim was denied without any explanation. Renters beware, they are not a company that cares about ethics or ensuring their renters are treated with fairness.

I was told by the co host I could return the car earlier but he didn’t know what I was talking about when I mentioned that he had to go in and approve my change request. So I called an agent and they made the change. I returned the car less than 24hrs after picking it up. Then they charged my card $1000+ and wouldn’t return it cause the host never went in and approved the change …..cause he didn’t know how!!!!

I'm giving one star because I'm unable to give ZERO stars. I am being scammed out of $165.00 from Turo. My host lied on me and Turo will believe them even if they don't have proof of their claims. DONT USE THIS DISSERVICE

BEWARE OF UNFAIR CANCELLATION FEES! Needed a vehicle for holiday aboard in Canada, car rentals were booked out so decided to give Turo a try. Was able to get a 7 seater at a price higher than car rental but had little choices. Decided to book immediately and the following transpired. Selected car and date, uploaded license, reservation was made and credit card was charged. Messaged host immediately to confirm time of earliest pickup and he responded immediately. Turo asked me to upload the drivers license again and with the driver holding it and I did. After a 10 mins, I received a message from host that my trip was cancelled due to concerns related to license. This whole process took roughly 30 mins in total. So what happened was that I was suppose to upload my own license and not somebody’s else. My family member who lived in the country I am visiting was willing to drive us around so I decided to submit her license. Apparently this was not allowed and against Turo policy. Fair enough but the kicker was the cancellation fee. My trip cost a total is 150 CAD and the cancellation fee was cost of 1 day rental cost plus cancellation fee which adds us to a sum of 97.45. Now tell me if this is fair? Why am I being punished so severely for a simple process such as uploading wrong license? The Turo app could have easily prompted me to upload my personal license and I would have gladly did it. So of course I tried contacting Turo customer support and after they bouncing me around different departments for an hour and spending additional fund on international calls, they basically say hard lucks, is policy. They say the fee charged was to compensate for the host’s time. That makes no sense, the first thing the host has to do is review the license to confirm if everything good before he even approve the booking. Which he did and the trip was cancelled. Again the whole process took place less than 30 mins and now I am down $100 CAD. I like the ideal of airbnb for cars but i totally despise these business practices. Traditional rental companies won’t even bat an eye if you don’t show up for a reservation but Turo out here charging an hefty funds for such basic and simple mistakes. Please provide super clear and critical warning when customers has to upload id or do some basic image recognition when a license is uploaded to determine if it’s the owner of the account before allowing the reservation to go through and taking people money and providing no service.

Pretty bad experience in Anchorage. Was my first and last trip with Turo. You are not protected in any way from fraudulent damage report, or from paying all damages that show up on a 100K car during the trip. Not for me, too risky for a tiny discount

Really bad experience. Car broke down because of bad maintenance and we had to pay for the repair. Bad after service. Our side of the story was not heard. Would NOT recommend to anybody

Worst experience, we rented a car that had mechanical failure. Did the claim process on their own without consulting us, now have to pay more than 10K for a car that was not safe to drive. Worst experience, never again.

Min Cheng (goes by Gary) of Las Vegas ran a scam on me, and Turo did absolutely zero to hear my side of the story. After Min saw I left a 5-star review (knowing that Turo would not allow me to alter it), he filed a "collision report" for "bush scratches", even though I never hit anything while using his car. There was an extremely windy day while I had the car so I can't guarantee that every single scratch did not occur while I had the car, but if you look at the pictures I submitted, you can't really see any of these cause they're so small no one would notice them, just like I didn't pay much attention to them when I picked up the car. Turo decided to charge me over $1400. Min took the car to a dealer who decided there was more than just superficial damage (cause his car is from 2011 and had taken a beating before I used it), and now Min is trying to get me to pay for over $1400 more in addition to what I already paid him. If you've also been the victim of Min's scam, spread the word! People need to know about this criminal! I'm interested in taking legal action against Turo for allowing him to behave this way, always assuming the host is right, and for demanding to be paid within 24 hours of determining the cost without any consultation of evidence provided by the renter.

Be careful or get the premier insurance. As a renter you are better protected by the big auto rental companies. They will take care of you if you get a flat. Turo is all about the protecting the host, not the consumer.

Rented for the first time. Customer brought my truck back who clearly smoked (marijuana) in it. They cleaned up the evidence but the smell is nauseating. I reported it to Turo with proof of ashes in the truck, and reporting the smell. They told me they can’t Do anything about it, regardless of having a non smoking policy. BE AWARE! Turo will not fight for you or support you. Now I’ll have to spend a few $100 trying to get smell out. Be aware!!

Rented using Turo. Day one had to add oil to the car. Day 5 pulled over for an ambulance got a flat tire and host is charging me $560 for two new tires. Probably wouldn’t happen with Hertz and they would have sent someone to change the flat. I wouldn’t rent again. Disappointed

Rented a car for a family trip in California with my family to visit my extended family. After picking up our mini van the key fob could not operate any of the doors electronically. I had to open the doors. So we couldn’t lock or unlock the car by pressing the lock or unlock button. Contacted the host and he said battery may have died. That’s fine. Minor hiccup. We get to our destination and the key could not operate the car at all. Every time we tried to unlock it manually the car alarm would blare.A Turo dispatcher came out to try and fix it but he was useless. I had to rent another car from enterprise (which I should have done in the first place) and drove to the airport. Enterprise was amazing! The most disappointing thing is that when we got back home I get a message from the host claiming I damaged the car. All of this is a sham. Dont use it. Ever. Whatever money you think you’ll save, you may get hustled out of it in the end.

I have rented several cars fromTuro now and have found that they protect their host and not too much thought for the driver. Its like they are a team to make money off the renter ( of course) and they dont care about the renters input or questions. They add charges as they please if the host says any little thing as just a hairline off the full line or a crumb in the car. I would take pictures of everything with all host. The biggest thing that rubbed me wrong is that they allow the host to hide air tags in the cars and track your moves. I rented a Ford Fusion from " Mina's Ford" in San Mateo California , It had tint peeling off the four windows and damages all over the car. ( This should have been an alarm already and I gave her the benefit and still rented) And it had a airbag in the car and made me feel very uncomfortable. I wouldnt rent it again. At the end of the trip I filled the car and up and my mistake didnt take pics to protect myself. She took a slanted pic from the passanger side to make the needle look not on the full line and over 24 hours later added another $40 bucks of gas and charged me for it. No way if it was a tad off the line, would it have taken $40 bucks. They didnt listen to my side and only hers and charged me. Im not upset of the charge, she needed more than me thats fine. Life,,, just that no one would discuss with me and not even the owner would respond to my text after she lied. So just make sure you take all the pics and photos.

Horrible horrible horrible. I would never use this again. We booked a car and when we arrived the car was dirty inside and out. The driver didn't even wash or vacuum the car then we got a cleaning charge of 150 cause he said it was smoked in. It was already a smell when we got the car and we explained this to him but he basically got the money for the cleaning bill from us also. Turo didn't even try to understand or look at the proof sent in that the car was dirty.

I was out of the country, flew back to Fort Lauderdale and wanted to rent a car from Turo. Mind you I have rented from them before…. check this out: I agreed to a rental car for $119.95. I contacted the owner through the Turo app. The owner told me that I can use my iPhone or android to get the key once I get to the car. Unfortunately, my iPhone broke when I was out of the country and I had no iphone!!!! The owner was nice and told me that I can’t get the car without having a working phone, so he gave me Turo customer service #. I called them and I spent 45 minutes with customer service and they couldn’t do a damn thing. NEXT THING YOU KNOW, MY CREDIT CARD IS CHARGED $119.95 AND THEY REFUSED TO RETURN THE CHARGE!!! So I called Wells fargo and it’s now two months that we’re fighting with them, and just today, Turo credited my card back. They absolutely suck when there’s a problem.

My host has been very good to me.. I bring the car back for inspection and re-rent.. The host saw the trip fee go very high so they gave me a discount. The trip fee took my discount.. I paid for 3 days what a conventional rental cost for a week… They fact is the only the only good is was how great my hosts are.. But Turo and its trip fee can suck it..My hosts they love what they do and are great at it.. I pray that Turo is at least fare with them.
