Turo acquired a car rental company called Kyte a few days before my scheduled rental on July 18. Kyte (now Turo) abruptly canceled my confirmed reservation without any prior notice, explanation, or offer of assistance—leaving me completely stranded on the day I needed the car. I had booked well in advance and was relying on the reservation for an important trip. Because of the last-minute cancellation and total lack of communication, I was forced to scramble for alternate transportation and spend over $1000 out of pocket—nearly triple the original cost. The refund for the canceled booking was processed, but my request for reimbursement of the additional expenses has been met with vague, evasive responses and zero accountability. Turo has shown an alarming disregard for basic customer service and responsibility - which is consistent with other Turo customers experiences with cancelled reservations on their original platform. Their support team has failed to acknowledge the financial harm caused, and after multiple attempts to seek resolution, they have become unresponsive. Based on my experience and the wave of similar reviews, I would strongly advise others to avoid relying on Turo for transportation. The risk of being abandoned without support is real—and expensive.

I recently booked a one-month trip with Turo. Due to personal reasons, I had to return the vehicle 3 days early, which was approved by the car owner. I didn’t ask for a refund, just arranged an earlier return. To my surprise, on the return day, I was charged an extra $827.46. Turo told me this was because the monthly discount no longer applied after the change in dates. So just by returning the car 3 days early (with owner approval), my total trip cost jumped from $1,685.38 to $2,512.84 – a huge and unfair increase. Please double-check your bookings and bank accounts if you’ve made any changes to your Turo rentals. This kind of pricing change without clear warning is shocking.

Terrible experience!!! Returned the car 9 minutes late and receive an email the next day that I was 37 minutes late and additional charges over $70. This was my first time using Turo and will be my last. I recommend going through other membership to rent a car with more certainty and complete service, like Costco or travel credit cards. Turo car owners expect you to vacuum and wash the car, unlike a rental car agency. All around poor experience and absurd expectations, never again!!!!!

I booked a car on Turo for a special occasion, but the original vehicle was unavailable due to issues on their end. The replacement didn’t meet the original terms, and despite clearly stating I didn’t wish to proceed, I was still charged. It took nearly two weeks and several follow-ups to receive a refund for the trip, and I’m still awaiting reimbursement for Uber rides that were necessary only because of the disruption. The situation caused financial and emotional stress, and I’ve had to absorb losses due to miscommunication and misrepresentation throughout the process. While I appreciate the partial resolution, the overall experience left me frustrated and disappointed. I expected more accountability from a platform like Turo. Going forward, I’ll be using Enterprise, where I’ve consistently found clarity, professionalism, and reliability.

Owner claimed I damaged his car and even though the pictures very clearly showed I did not, Turo charged me $1500. There is absolutely no recourse according to the contract you “sign” when you rent the car. Dealing with this company has been a Kafkaesque nightmare. Rent from Enterprise and AVOID THIS APP.

Instant booking is a really bad idea for turo hosts. You will lose money by hosting.

The worst customer service. When you get a vehicle that is trashed and try to prove it to Turo they will ignore you and the worst car owner ANDREW will try to charge you for his own cleaning $150 because no one is physically there at pickup. At least Enterprise has a person there.

Turo is great until you have a problem. In my case I got a customer service representative with severe mush mouth, a dismissive attitude,, and poor English. I won't be using Turo again.

This was a good company until the price to rent in NYC skyrocketed. As an example when I started using them a car would cost me about $180 for three days with no deposit. That same car for the same amount of time is $400 plus $500 deposit. No longer a good alternative.

No!!! Please don’t use Turo. The worst experience followed by not great customer service. It’s not worth it. I think it’s about 50% which is not worth it. Ended up having to rent a car last minute which cost me 3x as much bc the host didn’t want to sit in traffic for my arrival time so cancelled after the cancellation window and I spent an hour on with customer service basically telling me if I cancel then I won’t get my money back and he wouldn’t cancel. Nightmare! Soend your money elsewhere and preserve your mental health!

I rented a convertable fiat with the only reason renting this car specifically was that the top goes down. An hour before getting to our destination the renter notified me that the top wasn't working and couldn't come down. I was very upset, but I also understand. The owner of the car did not offer a discount just basically said sorry. We got the car because we already paid for it and we needed it that night. Turns out the cars AC also did not work and it was 100 degrees that weekend. We also learned that the car couldn't lock which is a big problem because we were in Minneapolis and theft is high there. I told them to take the car back because I don't want to be responsible for the car being stolen. The owner told me they have no way to refund me and that I would have to call Turo. I called Turo and they only gave me $100 credit so that I could get a new car for the remainder of my trip. There were only a couple of cars available last minute so we got a car out of our budget and in the end spent way more money than we anticipated and had a horrible experience overall. Turo needs to let the owner of the car they are renting out to refund you. The owners need to have the cars in peak condition or be ready to offer a full refund or partial. I use Turo because it is more affordable, but after that I will not use Turo again. If turo immediatly offered to pay for a new car for the remainder of the trip and partial refund from the Fiat I would have been very pleased and continued to use their service in the future. I practically had to beg for the $100 credit for the new car.

Do not rent vehicles from them. The vehicles are lemons and not properly inspected. I rented one from them at unity car sales at 2601saw mill run blvd in Pittsburgh pa 15227 from George and John. The brakes squealed and the front end rattled and the air conditioner blew hot air. They would not let me return it the same day so they could keep my payment and I would not get all of my money back.

Terrible experience with Turo! Never again! I rented a car through Turo and, unfortunately, I was the victim of an act of vandalism while the vehicle was parked. I did absolutely everything right: I contacted immediately, filed a police report with the Fort Lauderdale police, provided all the requested information and the car owner's insurance has already paid for the repairs and the vehicle has been fully repaired. Even so, Turo insists on charging me improperly for something that is not my responsibility and that has already been resolved by the insurance! It is completely absurd, unfair and disrespectful to those who are acting with transparency and good faith. I've always liked Turo's idea, but after this experience, I never use the service again and I don't recommend it to anyone. If anything unexpected happens, get ready to be held accountable, even without guilt. Here is the alert for those who travel: think twice before trusting Turo. Terrible customer support and zero consideration with the user!

Awful, incompetent customer service and owner responsiveness. A reservation I had for months was canceled the night before without anyone reaching out. When I tried calling to fix the issue, their customer service people were utterly useless. Ugh! So irritated.

Most disappointing thing is the description says you can drive up to 280 miles and reality is the owner set the max charge up to 85% and you have to charge it up very often. And you have to use specific charging stations because the car doesn’t have any adapters. If you pick up from airport you will have to pay parking fees. If you return the vehicle with 4% les like i did, you will be charged $16.65 please be careful

I had an extremely disappointing experience renting a car through Turo with BIMKA LLC. I booked the vehicle several days in advance for a trip to Hawaii, and the full payment was processed on July 6th for a rental from July 8th to July 10th. Despite being in my city, I communicated with the host via message, and they responded kindly. On the day of the rental, we woke up early to pick up the car at 7:30 am. I received a message from Turo asking me to submit my driver’s license, so I sent a photo of my husband's license, as he was going to drive during those days. I left my phone briefly to get ready, and we ordered an Uber to the designated pickup location. When we arrived, my husband, son, and I were surprised not to see anyone waiting or approaching us. I checked the Turo app for messages or contact details for BIMKA LLC, and to our shock, I discovered that our reservation had been CANCELLED! 😡 The reason given was "lack of clarity" regarding the license. The truth is, I mistakenly sent my husband's license instead of mine — which was an honest mistake, not intentional. The profile on Turo is in my name, and I had no malicious intent. However, BIMKA LLC, unprofessional and inconsiderate, canceled the reservation just an hour before the scheduled pick-up time, after already having been paid. Instead of reaching out to clarify or notify us, they simply canceled and kept the money. We were left stranded in a parking lot with our belongings, my son’s skateboard, and no car — ruining our plans for the day. I contacted Turo customer service, but the response was useless. They told me that the host (BIMKA LLC) had decided the cancellation was valid because I didn't send the correct license, and there was no solution offered. Yes, it was my mistake, but a professional host would have simply contacted me to clarify or remind me to send the correct document. Instead, BIMKA LLC chose to cancel the reservation, keep the money, and leave us stranded. We ended up paying for another Uber and wasting over 45 minutes trying to resolve this with Turo’s customer service — with no resolution. My advice: do NOT rent from BIMKA LLC in Honolulu Hawaii on Turo. There are many other hosts who are professional and respectful. This experience was frustrating, disappointing, and infuriating — a total lack of professionalism and customer care. ZERO stars for BIMKA LLC. 👎

I booked a reservation through Turo a full four months in advance of our 10-day trip, but then had to cancel due to a change in plans just outside of the 24-hour cutoff. I honestly never saw the no-refund warning when booking, but I've learned my lesson. When it was clear from repeated messages that I could not receive a refund, I appealed for the ability to re-book the same car for the same dates using my previous payment, but that was also denied, even though that car remains available for those dates. Very frustrating, and I can now understand all the negative comments and poor ratings. Never again, Turo!

I was in a terrible spot after being unable to recover my lost funds. It felt like no one could help me — until I met Mr. Erin and his team. They were calm, clear, and incredibly supportive from the first message. They had a real plan, and their instructions were so easy to follow. What I appreciated most was their constant communication. They made me feel heard. And in the end, I got every cent back. I’m beyond grateful.
