I’ve had issues with this company twice now in the same year. Both times, I booked a car over a month in advance and was later told right before my trip that they couldn’t deliver the vehicle. The first time, they worked with me because I had proof. This time even with proof it wasn’t my fault, not so much. I originally connected with an agent through chat but got disconnected, and from there it just went downhill. I spoke to four different people and none of them followed through on what the last person said. The owner let me know just a few days before my trip that the delivery to my address wasn’t possible, even though the app let me book it that way. I followed up via text and didn’t get a response, so I had to message through the app. Because it was so last-minute, there were no good one-day rental options left without paying extra either more for delivery or cars that were further away. I was told I’d have to either pay the delivery fee to be delivered or go pick it up myself, which defeats the whole purpose of having the car delivered. Then I was told they’d only cover the difference in the car rental, not the extra costs when none of this was my fault. Which again was different from the original person saying I would only pay $68 and Turo would cover the rest. A supervisor was supposed to call me back and never did. I’ve rented from them several times and even have upcoming bookings, but after this experience, I’m thinking about canceling. It’s not just the car it’s the lack of follow-through, accountability, and real customer service.

A listing that started at $234 ended up to be $472 During my trip, 2 small rocks hit the window causing cracks. When I didn't respond in a few hours (because I was in a plane), I received a late night, threatening text from the host Never again!

They suck, pure and simple. My application was rejected, and when I tried to contact someone (anyone) at Turo support….crickets. None of the rejection criteria fit with my driving profile. The only thing I can think of is they didn’t want my business because I am 60+, with great insurance, great driving record, and excellent credit. Oh well. Based on the reviews here, I guess I should be glad I didn’t waste a dime on that company.

Turo is litterly a hit or miss depending on the host I found a really good one who was reliable, respectful, and understanding, but sadly total customer service is pathetic. Recently I was in a car accident where I was hit by a cyber truck on the police report. It states that the cyber truck drove through the red light and also states that there was an eyewitness who happened to be the sergeant that was driving right behind him and witnessed him drive through the red light and hit me. Keep on me. I told us Toro gave them the police report but they lock my account because they say they’re doing an investigation to see who’s at fault how ridiculous is that after giving this company $4000 they should look at the police report and see clearly who’s at fault and it wasn’t me

I had a terrible experience with this rental car company. They canceled my reservation at the last minute without any proper explanation, leaving me stranded and scrambling to find an alternative. To make matters worse, they blocked my account immediately afterward, preventing me from even contacting customer service through the app or website. This level of unprofessionalism is completely unacceptable, especially when you’re relying on a confirmed reservation. There was no communication, no apology, and no resolution offered. I strongly advise others to look elsewhere for reliable service — a company that treats its customers this way is not worth your trust or your money.

I've spent 1 and half hours trying to get my wife as an additional driver but this can not be done by their system because her phone number is not USA. 1st staff said it can be done to get approved manually but the 2nd staff said not possible after many times to verified the phone number. So disappointing !!

I was excited at the possibility of renting a car through Turo, I completed the profile after downloading the app, inserted all of my information & selected the car I wanted, only to receive notification that they were unable to rent to me. I called customer service and was told someone would get back to me within the hour, they were going to escalate my application. I mentioned that as I was filling out the profile and uploading my ID, The app stated that the name on my drivers license did not match the name on my account which is not true & the exact same thing happened to my daughter. Once she uploaded her drivers license it stated the name on her drivers license did not match the name on her account (false). 1.5 hrs later I get an email stating that the reason they cannot rent a car to me is because I failed a background screening and they could not confirm my identity which is bizarre. I’m 60 years old. I have never failed a background check in my entire life and they don’t have my Social Security number. Also, it said that I had 1 or more Major motor vehicle violations. I have a perfect driving record and I went to the California DMV website just to pull my driving record to see if there was something there that I wasn’t aware of so I sent them an email with a copy of my driving record, letting them know that their technology was seriously glitching, and as a Vet who has lived in the Los Angeles County area since 1990 verifying my identity, should’ve been relatively easy. No one got back to me after that. My daughter tried to rent the car. She chose a car within the Culver City area, which was 10 minutes from us. The app says you have up to an hour to cancel the reservation for free, once my daughter selected the car and paid. She discovered the car was not in Culver City but it was over 45 minutes away so she canceled the reservation which was $94. They took over $300 of my daughter’s money for a service she didn’t receive get and was told it will take 5 to 6 days for a refund, when the app says you can cancel for free, yet the app selected a car NOT in Culver City. Rent from anybody other than Turo. Also they told me I could use their service as a host, meaning that they are willing to make money off my car, but as a retired vet with a perfect driving record who has lived in the same area since 1990 I am unqualified to rent from them. Don’t waste your time. Don’t waste your money don’t download their app.

I would give zero stars if I could. Was stranded at the airport for 2 hours because the car I rented on Turo canceled at the last second. Customer service is the worst I’ve ever experienced. They refuse to give me my money back or compensate me for ruining my vacation and wasting countless hours talking to totally incompetent service agents. I’m disputing the charge with my credit card company and now they are threatening me to never be able to use Turo again. Seriously? Gladly.

My past 2 trips with Turo. 1) Owner cancelled my reservation the morning of my trip, leaving me scrambling for a replacement. 2) I needed to cancel my reserver THREE WEEKS prior to the start of my trip. Turo said I'm SOL and kept 100% of my money. Avoid this company at all costs.

I used to be a repeat customer but I won’t be again. I had requested a car weeks before the date. The morning that I was supposed to pick up the car, I spoke with the owner to pick up a hour before & he agreed. So called Turo to see if I could pick up 1 hour earlier. The customer care person told me that the car is not safe to drive & was canceling my request.I feel like it’s unprofessional to cancel request after they had charged my credit card & not notify me of what was done. I have even told friends & family about Turo. Now I will go tell them how unprofessional they are.

I’ve never used Turo before, yet my account was restricted immediately after signing up — with no explanation. Instead of providing a specific reason, they sent me a vague list of “possible” causes, none of which applied to me. I combed through the list and there was absolutely nothing that justified this restriction. What’s worse? They told me I could reapply in two years. TWO YEARS — for an account I never even had a chance to use! That is absolutely absurd and unacceptable. I’ve never experienced such poor onboarding or customer treatment from any other platform. This kind of practice makes me seriously question their credibility and how they handle customer data. I will never do business with Turo and strongly advise others to avoid this company. There are far better and more transparent car rental options out there.

I am writing to formally dispute an unauthorized charge associated with my recent rental under Turo, Rental #45092764. I was recently notified that I am being charged a fee for allegedly smoking in the vehicle I rented. I want to state unequivocally that I **never smoked inside the vehicle** at any point during the rental period. This allegation is entirely **false** and deeply offensive. The charge was applied **without my consent** and **without any prior communication or supporting evidence**. As such, I consider this charge to be unauthorized and demand its **immediate reversal**. This situation is not merely about the amount charged. It is about **false accusations, damage to my personal integrity, and a serious lack of transparency**. I take great care of any vehicle I rent and will not accept being held responsible for actions I did not commit. Additionally, I have attached photos taken the day I returned the vehicle, which clearly show the condition it was left in. I request that Turo provide **specific and clear evidence** to support this claim. **Where exactly is the evidence of smoking inside the car?** Furthermore, as a resident of the State of Florida, I am aware of my consumer rights under the **Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (FDUTPA)**. Falsely accusing a customer and charging them without proper evidence may constitute a violation of these rights. If this matter is not resolved promptly and appropriately, I am prepared to pursue legal action through the Florida Attorney General’s office and/or small claims court for damages and legal redress. I request that this matter be resolved immediately, and that Turo provides a written explanation, as well as any supposed evidence that supports this accusation. Please confirm receipt of this letter and provide a timeline for resolution. I can be contacted at:

Turo in the past, was great. Now, the host, Clay in Pueblo Co, charged toll fees, that he had paid, waited to notify, charged 309.00, had to dispute with my bank. Turo customer service is awful. They lost a repeat customer. No more Turo.

I was just on the phone with Berny and Sebastian about an unresolved issue with my account and was just hung up on and told my issue was unproductive. The people on the phone had no supervisor or answers for my questions. This has been the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I will make sure no one ever uses this company seeing how they do not care about their customer. All I needed was my account closed. No one was able to help me. No supervisor # provided to contact next morning no nothing. Terrible run company.

The absolute worst customer service ever. My account was blocked and i was told i was banned. I contacted them several times through the app and they over the phone and no action was taken to fix it. The representative informed me to just keep waiting or make new accounts.

Rented the Host's car the night before needing it on the Turo app. Show up to the vehicle in an industrial complex the next morning. No Host and no information on how to unlock the car. Called the Host and was told to "look around on the ground" for the key. Finally found the key on top of the rear tire. Opened the door and the interior reeked of stale smoke. The interior was coated in a thin layer of nicotine tar. Because we were in the middle of a vacation, time was precious (and we were dropped off by Uber in an industrial complex) so we took our pictures and completed the process. My mistake was not turning the vehicle on until after accepting it. The check engine light came on. I tried calling the Host. He now did not answer his phone. I told him in the Turo app that we could not take the car due to safety reasons and to cancel the trip/refund our money. I further filed a claim with Turo about the issue. After a number of hours, we finally managed to rent an Enterprise car (for less than the Turo car) and went about completing our trip. Return home. No refund. No communication from Turo (except daily messages to "rate my experience"). I call Turo and am told that I'd receive a response in 2 business days. No response. I call a week later and -- after being passed to various representatives -- am told that I'll soon receive a response (they had to speak to the Host). Two weeks later, no thing. This is after having documenting everything in the Turo app in near real time - meaning Turo could quickly review its logs to know the car was returned within less than 15 minutes of acceptance (and the Host agreed to the return). I've had a prior good experience with a Turo host. I expect the occasional bad host. But the company's failure to timely address customer concerns means that I will never use the service again. You can decide for yourself, but if you are on vacation where your time is precious, please beware. Good luck out there everyone
